View Full Version : NBA... the season has started and does anybody care

My Chicago Bulls have sucked since MJ left. We've gone through years of bad teams under a bad coach. For once, they are interesting to watch again. If we can win 30 or 40 games, it will be a big improvement... and you add the "they will get better" factor on, and things are FINALLY looking good in Chicago for a change.

Does anybody really care about the NBA anymore...?

I don't but then I never did. Basketball is the poorer cousin of netball.

Well that's your opinion MrPresident;)

All I have to say is, I hope Yao Ming isn't a huge dud, Game 1 was really bad.

Yes, and mine too. I'd rather be a basketball than be forced to watch it. :p

b-ball rulez, too bad it isn't broadcasted here.... I think it'll be the Lakers again though, unless Sacramento beats em to it :p We'll see. Western champion will be NBA champion.

The NBA, in its present form, is unwatchable.

College basketball is much more exciting and a better game.

Basketball

Hooray, we scored! Oh look, they scored. Yay! We scored again! Oh, they got one back. But we've scored again! Repeat until final buzzer. How boring.

Gee... kind of like the opposite of soccer... look he kicked the ball, look they kicked the ball... look they didn't score... look, nobody scored... repeat until the referee makes a bad call and hands the game to one of the two teams ;)

You missed out the inevitable violence in the stands, and inane comments from the commentators. Plus fights between the players and the general rubbishness. :D

Fortunately, I dislike both football (soccer) and basketball. :p

Mordheim sums up the latter very well. :p

In football a goal is an event in itself, that is what makes scoring one so special. Watch the difference in reactions of both fans and players between when the Lakers score a slam dunk and when Spurs score a goal, complete opposites. I don't know how you could get so excited over something thats guarenteed to happen 50+ times in a game. Mind you, you should have seen Grimsby v Burnley on Wednesday...

both games rule, football and basketball. I love both games.

I like both football(soccer) and basketball. The high scoring in basketball doesn't make it less of a game. A game tying score with the final score 104-102 is just as exciting to me as a game tying goal with the final score 2-1.

Well lets re-thread jack the thread here and talk basketball.:p

I have a interest, following my fantasy team.

As for the Knicks, they were bad, now they are horrible, lottery city once again.

But we got the Nets, AoA. And they played amazing last year.

I have stopped watching the NBA that much more. When MJ as around I loved it. Ewing was on the Knicks at that point. The Lakers weren't that good. But it was Jordan and he made the difference whether I was rooting for the Bulls or not.

Now it isn't any fun to watch. I hate the Lakers, and I hate their arrogant players, Kobe and Shaq.

It just isn't worth watching.

So, I guess you only are allowed to cheer a couple of times a game... sounds boring to me ;)

When MJ was in his glory, the Chicago Stadium would just ROCK every time he scored or just did something that you thought was impossible. The NBA is non stop action... compared to VERY RARE moments of excitement surrounded by pure boredom as you get in soccer.

The NBA was worth watching in the 80s and early 90s, now it's just one-on-one with a bunch of guys standing around watching everybody else.

Someone should tell these guys making $10 mil a year that it's perfectly legal to move without the ball once in a while.

I love the NBA, even when my team does suck.

Basketball is the only sport I can get into. I'm not sure why; maybe it is because I played it when I was young, or because its full of tall black men.
...uhm, probably the former...

Anyway, the Magic look great this year, but like every other team it depends upon health :goodjob:
Keeping my fingers crossed...

How 'bout them wizards?

I think the NBA is loosing a lot of it's magic of about 5+ years ago. They need something other than drugs to spice it up. fantasy b-ball is fun though :)

It allows us to develop our supporting skills. For example, the Mexican wave. And we get to sing terrace songs (technically they are no longer terrace songs) such as my personal favourite, "You're not singing anymore, you're not singing anymore, repeat several times" and of course the variation when you are playing Preston North End, "You're not famous anymore, you're not famous anymore". As far as I can tell such delights are not present at America sporting events, your loss.
compared to VERY RARE moments of excitement surrounded by pure boredom as you get in soccer.
I would advise you never to watch a cricket match.

In other words, the games get so boring that people have to figure out how to entertain themselves

Most of them figure that out quickly anyway.[pimp] or

Otherwise, they are blowing the whistles or singing at the top of their lungs.

Soccer is only cool when it's World Cup soccer. Even then it's only marginally cool.

Basketball is only cool when it's playoff basketball. But then it's at the very least pretty cool.

College basketball is always cool.

And basketball as a recreational sport is also WAAAYY cool.

That's alot of cools in one post. Perhaps even a record.

Upon Edit: The original post asked a question. My answer is "NO, I don't really care."

Lakers... I'm a Lakers fan really, but this is just ridiculous. I think they're 2-5 now right? 0.286?

Don't worry... the Lakers will still be there in the end. As Jackson has said, the regular season is only there to get you to the playoffs... as he as proved the last few years ;)

Go Zen Master ;)
