View Full Version : Tiny Hellions!
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 02:30 PM I am about to start a new game on a tiny world with Mauiduck, Joespaniel, and anyone else who responds to this in the next five minutes. Let's try and keep it people who will be able to roll along for awhile this afternoon/evening....
I have Mauiduck as claiming Germany.
I claim Ottomans for this one.
Joe?
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 02:34 PM I'll take the Mongols (for the nice leaderhead  ).
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 02:35 PM Got Germany
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 02:36 PM Gotcha. Im gonna wait another few minutes to see if there is one more otherwise we keep to three and get quick development....
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 02:39 PM I will have the ugliest leaderhead. :mischief:
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 02:39 PM Okay I am lowering the boom. Three players, tiny world, maybe an extra random AI civ. Arrrrribbbba!!!!
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 02:46 PM Sultan Bhargash, you are an "absolute blahdy shah".
;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 02:49 PM The game has been sent on to Maui duck, then will go to Joe. Then the AI gets a turn as Russia (I imagine that you just mail it back to me, Joe, rather than mailing it to the AI...).
Hopefully we can do the one thing I have always wanted to do - bash the AI.
When I was in charge of my country, I was considered an Absolute Bloody Shah!!!!
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 02:52 PM OK..sent to Joe...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 02:58 PM It's also at http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/TinyHellions.sav

Why? Is anyone else having attachment problems?
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:10 PM Karakorum founded! :mwaha:
A good starting position, nothing spectacular. :|
The Sultan has been e-mailed.
mauiduck, you dont have to upload it if you prefer. I check my e-mail every few moments, and take it from there. :)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:16 PM I just got kicked offline, but I'm back.
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 03:17 PM OK great the only reason I did it was because there was a big lag when Joe tried to recieve my first e-mail...Germany has established Berlin along a river with nice mountains and with buxom Germanic frauleins scampering in the meadows.

frickin' hilarious...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 03:22 PM Need game resent...It says it is Ottoman's turn when I load TinyHellions2 from Chris
Richard III Nov 02, 2002, 03:23 PM Occasionally that happens. You just have to go back and re-load - for some reason, that works. My last turn in pioneer worked the same way.
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:25 PM Originally posted by mauiduck

Its a-ok now. ;)
I offer you warrior code and 10 gold for a few of those fraulines... :satan:
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 03:26 PM Yes, when I got it it said "Mongols turn" but I opened it (I'm not shy) and it was actually ready for my password prompt.
I think it thinks because it ended on the previous players turn that it is going to start there but no problem.
Well, Istanbul is nicely situated with a mountain and a river etc. The worker was sent to "go see what that hut wants" it turned out they had a nice map for me of the surrounding area.
So we shall see. I'm almost sure the huts in the distance will belong to rowdies...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 03:27 PM need Ottoman password..tried my password and then tried no pword at all and both times it gave me the invalid password message...
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 03:27 PM oh crap, I did send you the wrong file. Hold on. My bad....
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:32 PM No prob :smoke: Relax, have a cigar and some vodka, we talk...
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 03:33 PM I had accidentally saved my game the way they set it up (Sultan Bhargash 3950) instead of renaming it back to Tiny Hellions2 so that when I attached it I attached the game I had been sent.
What is the protocol going to be? Do we have to rename the game each time or could just keep overwriting TinyHellions.SAV in our files when we load/save? I'd prefer the latter (save space in file, keep consistency) but will agree to the former if there are good reasons/vehement objections.
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:37 PM Sultan - overwrite it.
ONLY I will rename it, ...3,4,5...etc., since it goes back to the top of the order, when I send it to you. :)
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 03:39 PM OK got it,,,thanxs Sultan you are the Ayatollah of Rock-n-Roll-ah...on it's way to Joe now. Strapping Germanic youth have been sent to mine the medows and our council is confident their Arayan seed will find purchase in their fertile valleys... :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 03:39 PM Okay. So you are the last player of the round, so you rename it and I will keep it to your new name when I send it back to Maui and he will keep that name when he sends it to you and you add the new turn digit, which will be three when you send it back to me after choosing to research the wheel (just a guess, that is what I would do...)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:41 PM Yes, you two just overwrite it. :)
Back in 5.
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 03:47 PM Sultan has been mailed.
I am scouting, and seeing too much jungle. Perhaps one of you gentlemen will loan me a machete?
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 03:58 PM I'll sell you a worker when I see you, probly just cost you a couple of techs and a map.
My warrior congealed, I moved the citizen out of the woods, started building Top Secret Next Project, sent the warrior off to earn death at the hands of infidels, and look forward to turn four, by which time I will be on my second glass of Mullah-approved Wine...
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:00 PM I'm cracking a beer.
Anybody want one?
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 04:03 PM Hmm, very dangerous if we start the drunken PBEM club. We might end up playing the same turn over and over and over, or losing to the AI...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 04:03 PM Off to Joe. We have sent our first warrior group out to the mountains to lay claim to new lands for the Fatherland our wise men talk of a strange new elixir called "Beer" that will help us spread the empire far and wide by bringing all women up to our lofty Arayan standards... :)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:08 PM
Off to you, your Highness. :D
More scouting, more nothing.
KaNick Nov 02, 2002, 04:09 PM Hey i'll take a couple Joe.
How about a restart so i can get in;):D
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:14 PM Sorry! :p
You CAN have a beer though, I'll mail it to ya'.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 04:19 PM Grandmasta, it might be possible to set the AI Russians to be you, I am not sure how administration works however (has anyone tried to change/boot/add players in game?), and of course you would have all those AI bonus units/techs that appear from nowhar...
My warrior, approprately named MadMullah 1, is just outside of some huts. One of our Imams says he believes the new tribe will bring us knowledge. Most of us agree they are going to be angry fools who bring us veteran status. Either way, the plan is to be caught up on glasses of wine per turn by turn 7...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 04:22 PM As far as I know, you can only do it to the scenarios not to the saved game. I think we need Gramaphos to update his SaveGame Multi-Tool for PTW, unless a copy is already on the CD...
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:26 PM Ah, we also have come in sight of a minor tribe.
First unit completed, second unit started. :p
I am curious to see what happens when contact is established...
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 04:27 PM Okay so we ignore the Grandmasta. Sorry G.
Meanwhile turn five brought a surprise. MadMullah 1 opened the hut to reveal... another map! I can now see for quite some distance, and have spotted those red and blue luxuries, I think it is silk, at the edge of a mountain range to the north. Trust me, I wont be half this forthcoming once the wars start...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 04:31 PM Off to Joe...Germany seeks peace with all neighbors EXCEPT for Russia who is our sworn enemy across the sands of time...The high strong mountains surrounding Berlin have given our warriors a view at the expansive acreage and it looks to be more fertile frounds for future German cities...
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:34 PM Originally posted by Sultan Bhargash

Huh? Me no warmonger, me friendly Khan... :mischief:
I got it. :)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:51 PM Forget the gamecatcher thing, I got back on. *phew*
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 04:52 PM I have the save, from maui.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 04:54 PM Hurray! I am loathe to visit rival sites to the mighty CFC.
Turn 6 was dubbed "the uneventful" as our worker hammered away and our warrior moved toward the shadows.
Does anyone know if it is possible to leave PTW running while checking in email and loading new games in? It would speed this up even faster. But dont say "use the windows key" cause I dont have one on my Dell...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 04:57 PM check my e-mail Sultan

KaNick Nov 02, 2002, 05:01 PM Okay so we ignore the Grandmasta. Sorry G.
Don't worry about it I wasn't serious anyways. Check out the new tribes thread:)

Leave your Internet provider on when you start PTW then you can just ALT + TAB in between screens.
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 05:01 PM LOL@joe. No I sent him an e-mail telling him how to keep PTW open and do other things at the same time. Paranoid little Mongols aren't we... :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 05:06 PM SecretProject 1 is complete!
I have set production to one thing but might switch it to something else. How is that for vague?
Our warrior nears the mountains when hopefully he would get a view.
My buzz expandeth - I had to email Maui Duck twice last turn after forgetting to attach!!!!

WHAT??? Thats it!!! :ninja:
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 05:07 PM *tee'hee* Cut and paste is fun. :D
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 05:14 PM I'll take one more turn, and then its break time for me guys.
mauiduck - the pioneers are going to meet up about 10pm EST (3 hours from now), can you make it?
Up for some late-nighting? :groucho:
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 05:15 PM Okay all it is off to Joe. Germany has discovered a hut and we feel since our capital is strongly defended that our warriors should try and ply whatever gold or mysteries it might hold. Our leaders hope it is a fraulein settler with strong child bearing hips that wants to join our Despotism rather and not a bunch of deserted shacks...:)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 05:18 PM So Joe if you are breaking till 10EST does that mean we can also resume this game then??
I am up for as late as it gets...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 05:33 PM Off to Joe again...German warriors wwre sadden to discover that the village had nothing to offer but a m ap although it did point the way to another village over the horizon our warriors will set off as our military begins to hit high gear in Berlin. A strong Germany is a secure Germany...:)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 05:33 PM My last turn:
Still no contact = bad luck, since this map is small.
Spot another hut, going for it.
Got a settler from the first one! :mwaha:
2nd city goes down next turn.
See ya in 3 hours. :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 05:35 PM I've had two goody huts but only got maps from them - you are the lucky one, Joe. Hope to see you all in 2 hours, 40 minutes.
Guess I'lll watch Gators vs. Bulldogs...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 05:44 PM See you all then
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 08:27 PM Let's get this one back up and running!
I have had a nap and a shower and should smell good for another 3 hours easily...
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 08:58 PM Who was after Joe?
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 08:59 PM I am after Joe. I am after Joe to mail me the game! I have been sittin about for forty minutes jonesing for some more play!!!
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 09:00 PM You got it.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 09:04 PM Nice, back on track, still nothing much doing but we are closing in on our next mountain view. Mailed off to Maui.
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 09:11 PM OK it's off to Joe..I I am wrong lemme know here...I'm blanking... :O
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 09:13 PM Hmm, "blanking" is what we used to call it in New Jersey when utilized that Maui treat that makes you forget who to mail the game to! But you are right, Duck, Joe goes then me then you!
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 09:17 PM Scouted further, still no contact.
25 bucks from goody hut. Founded Ta-Tu (???) with settler.
I have a scout near the center of the map, is anyone near there?
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 09:22 PM I think I am in the Northwest Corner, our warrior is headed your way.
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 09:37 PM Uneventful turn.
Moving scout toward dead center of map, find me, I am lonely. ;)
KaNick Nov 02, 2002, 09:38 PM Hey guys, how about some screen shots?
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 09:40 PM Not much to see yet, but ok, next turn I'll make one.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 09:41 PM Our borders expanded because of our HIGH CULTURE!!!
I am indeed on the Northwest Isthmus of the continent, warrior slowly making his way down from the tippy top to try and rendezvous with the Mongrels;)
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 09:42 PM LOL @ Sultan from Post #959

joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 09:48 PM  Youre both picking on the mongols again!!!
;)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 09:58 PM OK, its about to get exciting. :D
Scout is north of map-center, and is on a brown border...hmm, who could that be?
Settler leaves Karakorum to found 3rd city, and other stuff is going on too. ;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 10:00 PM A city ahead of us and the first to meet the Russians, whom you will no doubt poison against us! I see we gang up on him Maui! Maui?
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 10:03 PM :p Yeah, but my UU kind of sucks.
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 10:06 PM Germanmy is growing strong militarily but that is about it..the Germanic people are not reproducing fast enough we need WINE...:). We alo disocvered the lost tribe and picked up anotgher mysterious art. What could it be..nod, nod, wink, wink
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 10:08 PM We would love to take on the Russkies we are hopefully in a position to run into you soon...we are pretty far out in the weeds...:)
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 10:13 PM Contact with Russia! Catherine is annoyed (as usual).
She has nothing to offer, and has no cities besides Moscow yet.
Scout heading to dead-center of map, which is south of Moscow.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 10:19 PM JOE: that was your turn you sent me, it opened on to a view of your world. I closed it quick, honest, before emailing you. Maybe because it was called turn 12 you picked the wrong one to mail me. You can play the turn over and send it on.
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 10:24 PM I tried to save & exit, and must have hit the x instead of the checkmark.
No biggie. :D
Its all yours.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 10:36 PM We are sending a massive contingent inland , and only five more turns till we develop our first tech.
If I remember right, corruption is pretty high on tiny maps, in another few turns I'll found my second city and see...
joespaniel Nov 02, 2002, 10:46 PM Nothing much to report here, the mongols are expanding, and scouting.
This will be it for me tonight guys. :)
I will be on-line tomorow, and we can continue then .
Good luck with the new PBEM, sounds very cool. :)
-goodnight
Sultan Bhargash Nov 02, 2002, 10:54 PM Our final turn involved walking along our river to the southeast towards a new settlement site. Still haven't made any contacts, but have mapped our whole northwest peninsula.
The Mongols are going to be tough!
I will see you guys tomorow, I expect play will be slightly more "intermittent" since I have alot of crud to take care of but I will be reasonable diligent with checking the thread/email.
This is fun. My first ever MP Civ game.
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 10:57 PM Reply same to what Sultan said. I'll be around intermittently so just send it on and it will get done, just not at a lightning pace...;)...this is alot of fun and hopefully my sterile Arayan nation can get something going tommorrow..GNA
mauiduck Nov 02, 2002, 11:06 PM Reply same to what Sultan said. I'll be around intermittently so just send it on and it will get done, just not at a lightning pace...;)...this is alot of fun and hopefully my sterile Arayan nation can get something going tommorrow..GNA...Oh and BTW, I sent the game to Joe already
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 12:12 PM I am more or less around for awhile, cheering the Eagles on against Chicago.
PTW is fun after all. The PBEM is fun, and the solo player is unbelievable (see my Ansar warriors thread in General... those Arab dudes kick serious arse)...
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 12:55 PM th15 to you SB :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 01:18 PM About to found a hill harbor city. Still no sign of the Russians. Our forces grow slowly. If I hadn't got the maps out of those huts who knows how boring things would be for the Ottomans?
The game is with Maui duck, when he recovers from yesterday's activities we might get a nice roll on...
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 03:15 PM I am back..sorry guys but my IPS went down...I have discovered soemone...who it is we shall see but we are in a insteresting avenue to say the least.... ;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 03:45 PM The next round is back to Maui. Founded our hill harbor city and increased our glorious army.
It is funny, with the Ai opponents I always worry first about getting barracks, but I am so edgy with humans roaming around I'm pushing out regular defenders...
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 03:51 PM Edit: I am monitoring my e-mail.
Having a HELL of a time getting onto the forums.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 03:52 PM No, I mean that I sent the next round to Maui, Joe. After you go you send it to me, remember?
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 03:54 PM I mispoke. I sent it to you SB, but you already know that. :D
Wow, this is the best the forums have been all day for me.
2 posts!
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 03:56 PM Which means Maui has round 16 and will send it on to you. And I am going to hit a thousand posts today, what a big help these PBEM forums are!
KaNick Nov 03, 2002, 04:01 PM No kidding, I went from like 80 post to over 210 in 3 days!
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 04:09 PM Who cares. ;) You dont get a prize or anything. :D
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 04:12 PM Its Off and away...:)

Au contraire mon frere, I'm about to be made Emporer! And should I reach Diety level, I will be able to stop coming up with catchy titles for myself and just go on as a Deity!:king:
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 04:37 PM Hmm, I tried that once, but I keep coming up with new ideas for titles.
Exploring everywhere EXCEPT where you guys are, apparently.
SB has it.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 04:48 PM I found Maui Duck! Bismark was on the diplomacy screen. I wish it were possible to write messages within the game, but I emailed you my terms of a deal Maui. And don't bother expanding to your north - unescorted or barely escorted settlers will be dealt with most harshly...
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 05:03 PM Off to Joe...
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 06:43 PM I got it, and I see that the esteemed Sultan's next post will be his 1000th. ;)
Choose wisely. ;)
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 06:53 PM I got sidetracked exploring around Moscow, but I am now heading to where I think you guys are.
See ya soon, I hope. :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 07:05 PM Nice. I can see the Russian borders on the other side of a bay to my east.
Unfortunately, I disturbed some barbarians, one of whom is going to make it to my second city before I can get a defender in. I wish I had something to do with 43 gold before it goes away.
I noticed when dealing with the Germans that they are ANNOYED with me. What's the deal Maui?
(Can we set mood in the PBEMS?)
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 07:18 PM Show me where...I didn't realize it...
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 07:28 PM
Be nice! :hammer:
;)
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 07:41 PM I am trying to find you guys...:crazyeye: No luck.
SB, Bizzy is always "annoyed". ;)
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 07:58 PM I'm going to grab a screenshot from the next save, because this thread is boring to read. ;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 08:12 PM Damn it is hard to get on this server some time! As I wanted to say, it is half mast flags in Ottoman country. A hut containing barbarian raiders was opened and they will walk into our city next turn... the spearman who entered the huts tried to kill a barb and was ruthlessly gutted and eaten.
Barbs threaten our capital from the north as well...
KaNick Nov 03, 2002, 08:29 PM Damn it is hard to get on this server some time! As I wanted to say, it is half mast flags in Ottoman country. Attack now, while he is weak;)
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 08:32 PM This (http://www.vickysjokes.com/funny/elephants.asp) song was just on the radio. :D
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 08:36 PM Okay the German army continues to build as tword of the barbarians has forced us to hold of on our religous endeavors and produce archers and spreakmen like crazy. This damned barbarian activity also forced me to recall a overeager group of settlers in order to wait for protection from a group of speamen before setting out. We haven't seen any barbs yet but when they appear we will be ready for them...:) Oh BTW save is on top Joe..sorry about the delay but I got caught up watching the game...(Man, Fred Taylor sure does suck..anyone want him for 43 gld?...;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 08:46 PM My brother is at that game, Maui!
Meanwhile don't listen to Grandmasta, we have plenty of reserves hanging back. The fierce Ottoman people willnot be cowed...
KaNick Nov 03, 2002, 09:01 PM This song was just on the radio
:rotfl:
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 10:00 PM Round 20: my warrior has made his way in to the undefended city in time to ward off further barbarian attacks (barbs trashed our production and left stains all over but the gold was saved by smart negotiation! )
Things are progressing with the development of our cities, the biggest threat is rampant barbarianism and a perception that the Germans are a dangerous neighbor - plenty of arrowheads have been recovered on our southern frontier but Bhargash assures the populace we are "safe for this and every age".
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 10:19 PM Game to joe...
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 10:21 PM Game to joe...Germany moved north and prepared to start her second city after being delayed by barbarian hordes that also pester the Ottomans. Germany continues to train more and more young men for archery and defense. Our chief says we will secure the lands to the east of us for German expenasion while holding the settlement on the west at its present location for world peace and peace with our Ottoman neighbors.
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 10:52 PM What did you do, give your gold to maui to hold while the barbs raped you?

KaNick Nov 03, 2002, 11:00 PM Keep the cash Maui. Lie cheat and steal;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 11:04 PM AFAIK I sent round 20 to Maui. I thought he sent that on to Joe after his last post.
Joe you recently sent me your turn of round 20 (the last round you sent two times before), which I accidentally opened figuring it would be my turn. SO I KNOW WHAT YOU DID WITH CATHERINE!
Joe you should have/ be playing a turn 20 sent you by Maui, which should be renamed round 21 after you finish and then sent to me. Unless Maui never sent you his 20...
mauiduck Nov 03, 2002, 11:06 PM I sent TH20 to Joe a while ago, I have resent again...

SOOOO TRUE!!!!!:mischief:
Not much happened on my round 21. The barbs are balking at attacking my defended city a second time.
Defense has to take priority over expansion for now...
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 11:30 PM I have the save, and am sitting on it. Lets do pioneer first, ok?
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 11:32 PM Yes I think since you are before me you can do both and send me both, I will send them on and then go to bed...
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 11:40 PM Doing TH now. Maui AWOL.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 11:42 PM Cool
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 11:43 PM Maui back! I will send Pioneer first, then TH. :D
Sultan Bhargash Nov 03, 2002, 11:44 PM Dude, play both turns in the same session then send them both to me, that is what I did last time, it saves time loading the game.
joespaniel Nov 03, 2002, 11:58 PM I didnt see your post, but thats exactly what I did.
Edit: "Dude"
Sultan Bhargash Nov 04, 2002, 12:05 AM Sorry bout the "Dude", guy. ;)
Okay I am done for tonight, TH22 is in the hands of mister THC!
Y'all get some rest!
joespaniel Nov 04, 2002, 12:07 AM Thanks, "guy".
I'll see ya tomorow. :)
joespaniel Nov 04, 2002, 02:45 PM Played this morning, mailed to SB.
Here's some news: I may be on a totaly seperate continent from you two guys, alone with the Russians! I sure hope not, but unless you can make contact with Catherine from the west, it is certain.
mauiduck Nov 04, 2002, 03:51 PM No, we are all on the same continent I beleive....:(...one of my archers has just spotted a brown border belonging to none other than the Queen of all Horse Lovers...Catherine... :)
cgannon64 Nov 04, 2002, 04:52 PM I have a question: how the heck are you guys up to turn 20, when you started after us in Pioneer? You have about the same players...
CG
Sultan Bhargash Nov 04, 2002, 05:13 PM Three players, gannon, all of us hanging out on line for a long time Saturday and Sunday while Pioneer festered.
Joe, I am alarmed to read that you mailed me the game this morning, as I have not got it in any of my inbox/junk mail/etc. Send it again, and don't write the words "erase your debt" "diplomas online" or "horny Asian girls" in the subject line because these are all blocked in my hotmail...

OK, sorry, I'll stop spamming now. :D
CG
joespaniel Nov 04, 2002, 07:35 PM Sent again SB.
Get rid of that crappy e-mail you have!
I prefer an outlook express type program, very reliable.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 04, 2002, 07:58 PM The game is on to Maui.
I have outlook express, it doesn't work though because it was keyed to our old cable provider when we lived in New Orleans and I have never figured out how to fix it.
In case you haven't noticed, I am not the world's most adept computer guy. The red and blue text in my signature (which will change over at midnight) is the most elaborate programming I have ever done...
mauiduck Nov 04, 2002, 08:06 PM Off to Joe...German archers move to the north towards the Russians, while our scouts move to the south east. Germany is gearing up with another city and more military as we expand south and east of Berlin.
joespaniel Nov 04, 2002, 08:14 PM I am waiting for Pioneer 17, so I can do both in one shot.
Should be soon...

joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 01:21 AM I have made contact with Chancellor Mauiduck of the Germans!
And he is bald.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 05, 2002, 01:22 AM Well we will all be in contact soon, then. At which point the games begin!
Please dont make me use a chat room for this game!
joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 01:23 AM Go to the chat room now. :)
Link at bottom of page.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 05, 2002, 01:26 AM See my pm. Just the message netscape provides when offering to install this software scares the bejeezus out of me. I'm just not ready to take the next step...
joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 01:31 AM Go to the bottom of any page, and click the link to the chat room.
No install needed.
mauiduck Nov 05, 2002, 12:31 PM Back to Joe....
joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 01:50 PM OK, I will help you to install the mIRC applet, since its easier. And much better. If I dont have to work tonight, which is looking very likely, I will make a tutorial with pics.
Game sent to the honorable Sultan.
German frontier spotted, and the Mongols have offered the noble Chancellor a possible deal.
Russia does not have Ironworking nor Horseback Riding at this point. Lets keep it that way, since they are very close to both me and maui. If anyone offers Russia war-fighting technology, I will consider that an act of ill-will toward the Mongol people. :hammer: ;)
Building archers and spearmen like crazy, in case Catherine gets frisky.
mauiduck Nov 05, 2002, 02:23 PM Game to joe...Mighty Germany will not give either Iron Working nor any military aid right now. In fact the German people have developed a strong affection towards St. Peteresburg and Germany has issued a statement to all friendly nations saying that all German spearmen, archers and now swordsmen will be mvoing toward that city to claim it for Germany. This should help the Mongol people as Russia won't be as likely to get frisky with them with German steel breathing down their necks. Germany pledges no ill will to either the Mongols or the Ottomans and will cease our war of accquisition as soon as St Peterburg falls. If another nation wishes to join the German people on our quest and are eying a Russian city, Germany requests that you let our generals know in advance so our eager troops won't come in to those areas.
joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 02:30 PM  Oh yeah, armed aggression. :hammer:
Mauiduck, care to offer anything for Pottery or The Wheel?
Thats waht the diplo-screen was supposed to say.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 05, 2002, 04:37 PM I got the game and it is on to Maui.
I urge all players not in contact with the Ottomans to demand contact with the Ottomans!
joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 04:59 PM I declared war on the Ottomans, by a clerical mistake. It has been rectified, and the civil servant responsible hanged.
Our deepest regrets at this incident. :satan:
The Russians have ironworking now...
:hammer:
Sultan Bhargash Nov 05, 2002, 05:01 PM I'm in the middle of watching the videotape "The Sum of All Fears" and all I can say is: It wasn't the Russians!!!!
mauiduck Nov 05, 2002, 05:15 PM Game on to Joe...Germany flexed her muscle and took down a warrior and a settler with one of our archers. Our new workers have moved to the mountains to get out of reach of the russians and will soon be able to help speed up our connection of iron to our cities and build roads to connect our German cities. My war is more for workers than anything else. If someone on the other side of Russia were also to declare war Cathy would be screwed. But then again I can undertsand if the Mongols have no desire. BTW I got pottery from the Russians in their attempt to disuade my attack so I took the pottery demanded all their gold from them and then declared war when they refused. We gotta be tough with those Pinkos..:)
joespaniel Nov 05, 2002, 07:48 PM Moving forces to support maui, will take a few turns.
Diplomacy screen sucks, btw.
Save on to SB.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 05, 2002, 08:14 PM did skwart it over to maui, we are all looking for contact!
Sultan Bhargash Nov 05, 2002, 09:59 PM Round thirty is on to Maui.
Seems like lots of contact imminent.
The Ottomans plan to send a warrior forward as an impartial observer of the Germano-Russian conflict.
rodneysandy Nov 06, 2002, 12:20 PM I have enjoyed reading this thread, much strength to your elbows.Would it be possible to post some maps of the current position?
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 12:22 PM Yeah, Joe, post your map! ;)
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 03:04 PM Re: Youre new avatar. Nice pic, is that you? :p
You have already seen my map, cheater. ;)
Playing now, save to Mr. Large Seraglio in 5 minutes...lol

Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 03:38 PM Nice maps. According to Sir Jethro this is a picture of me, see the "Question from a newbie" /farting bob thead. Posted it as a joke, the real Sultan Bhargash will be back soon.
While in real life I often have a massive red beard, I am otherwise a pale imitation of these avatar dudes.

I was joking. :D
Sir Jethro is a terribly funny poster, I get a good kick out of him.
Is maui around today? He seems to be holding up both games.
mauiduck Nov 06, 2002, 05:24 PM I'm here...busy day over here...the German emprie took a huge step foward as the first swordsmen appeared and were moved via road to the front. Our archers have wasted another inferior commie warrior and our spearman is moving in position to fortify in the mountain overlooking St Petersburg. Another barrac ks was completed and our third city, Hamburg was founded. Word is that those who support the German war effort will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams. More swordsmen are on their way and because of the brracks they will all be veterans. Hopefully the Russian club bearing warriors will allow our Germanic swordmen to advance to elite status as we cut them down with our swords like fields of wheat under the scythe..:)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 07:51 PM Yay! The game might progress tonight after all! Joe don't you dare come on and post that you are waiting for pioneer!!!!!
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 08:14 PM Game off to Maui. It is getting mighty crowded! The fog of war at the edge of my tiny domain turns out to be the smog from a line of German cities! Still I bet nobody knows how much hinterland I have! Things are hotting up, no question...
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 08:27 PM Barbarians approach our cities, but they will be in for a nasty surprise, the Mongol towns are well defended. There will be some battles soon, and we will be victorious!
Mongol scouts are along the edge of Germany, and witnessed the founding of Hamburg. Mean looking Teutonic archers prowl the area.
The mongols are in a position to assist Germany in its war on Russia. We await their proposal, what shall they reward their allies with?

I wouldnt do anything of the sort.
I was waiting for Richard III. :D
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 08:40 PM So why hasn't I been mailed turn 33?
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 08:44 PM I sent you 32, and I am now waiting for maui, who is offline.
:smoke: Relax, have a cigar, some vodka. We talk. How things in Ottoland? ;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 08:47 PM Not bad, we got 3 cities, a 4th walking towards the silk. We got defense. We got death star. You will be meeting one of our agents in the field soon, it turns out we can't trade contacts till we have some technology that lets us.
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 08:49 PM Writing is important. ;)
We have 4 cities now, and are fortifying. I will attack Russia will maui, but I want a guarantee of future peace for doing so.
Germany criss-crosses the penisula base, so we need a RoP with maui to link up.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 09:01 PM You don't need a RoP when playing with humans, you just need to say "hey this guy isn't going to attack you"...
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 09:37 PM  I meant in spirit, not an actual treaty. But that was funny anyway.
Chancellor Maui Duck of Germanland - The Mongols are asking permission to traverse your territory, and seek the Ottopeople to your north. In return, Mongols will declare formal war on Russia, and vow not to attack Germany for a long time. :D
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 09:56 PM I notice joe and maui are both on late this wednesday evening - lets get the ball rolling!!!
mauiduck Nov 06, 2002, 09:58 PM Game off to joe...Germany agrees to your request. All we ask is that you leave the city of St Petersburg to my troops. Germany feels that we can handle the russkies quite readilly. If the Mongols wish to join in on the fray, however, we invite their assistance.
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 09:59 PM Playing now.
Edit: Sent to SB.
The Mongols await an answer from the German Chancellor, and thus await declaring war. Work continues on roads that will bring new and wondrous goods to our cities. Scouts discover a barbarian camp near Germany, and must flee.
In good faith, it lies east of Hamburg. Take 'em out maui. :sniper:
Our first temple will be complete in a few turns. We need somewhere to worship our war god. Many troops being trained for a possible attack on Russia, or to defend our homes if need be.
Barbarians at the gates!
Uh-oh...!
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/th-uhoh.gif
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 10:10 PM Round 33 is on to Maui. Our warrior is forecourt of Leipzig now. Lots of big decisions in the future.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 10:30 PM Twice in the last 24 hours I have been threatened with one week bans by two different administrators in two different forums! This could end up hindering my PBEM play...
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 10:32 PM Well, stop posting in the OT. :p ;)
I dont have to be able to "see the future" to know that.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 10:45 PM Yeah I need to do something about my CFC addiction. I have been in and out of every forum tonight. I ought to unsubscribe from OT but it is so compelling!!!
Who has the game now? I am going to bed at 1pm eastern.
joespaniel Nov 06, 2002, 10:56 PM Lets call it a night.
See ya tomorow guys. :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 06, 2002, 11:01 PM Goodnight. I guess the game is with Maui? See you tommorow (I will be checking all day)...
rodneysandy Nov 07, 2002, 08:10 AM I realise, now, that asking for maps was a daft request. When you have all exchanged maps, however,i think that it should be possible. You seem to be progressing,lickety-spit,and will probably be the avante garde of the PBEM world. The ever agressive Lkendter and his merry men have sussed that the AI is poor at warfare, human opponents will be a different kettle of fish.I am also really looking foreward to the "Cricket bat in the fog" syndrome.
joespaniel Nov 07, 2002, 08:24 AM  Good expression.
Playing now...sent to SB.
Mongols learn to write, and send embassador to Germany. He immeadiately becomes "alcoholic". Germans have nice lands, btw.
Whipped poor Mongols to make bows faster, we are attacking Russia! War will give us at least one Russian city that is too close to Mongolia for our liking.
Barbarians do not attack, they no dummies, instead wander Mongolia looking for weak worker Mongols to beat up. They get theirs soon.
Scout heading for Liepzig to meet Otto-people, and their funny leader.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 07, 2002, 10:16 AM Well the Mongols may know how to write, but the Ottomans just learned how to... oh, you'll see soon enough.
Round 34 is off to Maui, who "accidentally"? hemmed my wandering warior in between an archer, a spearman, a city and some coast line, delaying my league of nations entry.
mauiduck Nov 07, 2002, 11:05 AM OK.. game on to Joe and the Calvary or Swordsmen are coming to your rescue. I turned down the ROP as the Ottomans are sending out a warrior to greet your scout for communication. Our recon tells us that Russia has only the capital and will be gone. Given Germany's position of being spread out and barbarians, our generals are sending only a light detachment to the Russian front while our swordmen take up positions among the mountains to intercept the barbarians. If the Mongols could give my generals even better recon then we could intercept them quicker. Germany recognizes the danger the Mongol scouts are in and wishes to offer amnesty in our borders to your scouts should they be in danger. The German people trust the scouts as they pose no harm to our great Aryan way of life.....:)
joespaniel Nov 07, 2002, 02:16 PM Mongols (turn 35)
Scouts split up and head away from barbarian warriors, one towards Liepzig and one heading away into the unkown territory to the South-East.
Hoping to make Liepzig area in 2 turns, and meet the Ottomans.
In the spirit of cooperation with our German friends, the barbarians are located east by south-east of Hamburg.
St Petersburg is no more, destroyed by the Germans!
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/StP.jpg
There is another Russian city near Mongolia, and we intend to capture it by force in the immeadiate future. If Germany takes Moscow also, the Russians will be gone.
Then the real contest will begin. ;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 07, 2002, 02:18 PM The Ottomans have gone into their "Isolationist Phase". What are they planning back there? Game is on to Maui.
mauiduck Nov 07, 2002, 02:58 PM On to Joe....Germany has moved the 2nd Alpine Division of Swordsmen to the front with Russia. Although St. Petersburg is detroyed, the German people plan to move a settler to the area and that troops in the area will begin a defensive posture to secure the ruins per our Communique to all nations. Between holding the line at the ruins and training more veteran swordsmen, the German military is spread to thin and therefore we demanded tribute from the Russians for peace. The Russians have agreed to our fair demands and have handed over all their tech, gold and available workers to the Fatherland. We are still awaiting word on our trade proposal from our good neighbors, the Ottomans. We have encountered the Barbarians south-east of Hamburg per the Mongol intel and our Warrior division has fortified in the mountains south-east of Hamburg awaiting for the barbarians to be foolish enough to approach our cities. Another warrior group has also taken up a position to the far south where another barbarian was found. Our generals fear that there could be a massive barbarian uprising if we do not find and destroy their encampment soon.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 07, 2002, 05:23 PM On to Maui. The Ottomans are proud to announce the founding of their fourth city in a northern woodland setting near silk farms. The Sultan has plans to connect a road to them which will eventually bring trade with our neighbors.
We have not seen an emmisary from the Germans - perhaps he is enjoying one of our roadside bath houses? - but we will summon our Science Vizier to find out if he has heard anything when next court convenes.
joespaniel Nov 07, 2002, 10:03 PM Mongols (turn37)
Contact established with the Ottomans and their leader, Nostrodamus. Offer contact with the Russians as a token of friendship.
SoD forming to head for Russia, it will not be pretty.
Scout killed by barbarians, apparently angered by German warrior.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/dead.gif
Temple completed that will finaly bring iron and horses into our grasp. This temple, in Ta Tu, shall henceforth be known as the Shrine of the War God. May he bless our men at arms in the coming battle.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 07, 2002, 10:23 PM Turn 37 on to Maui.
The Ottomans have accepted contact with the Russians from ONE UGLY MONGOL!!! and made a small return gift. We have not actually contacted the Russians, in deference to our long time friend the Germans who are just getting over a war with them, but with Germany's permission we will send someone to Catherine's court in the next ruling cycle.
We are pleased to announce the completion of a great temple dedicated to Magra the Blood God.
joespaniel Nov 07, 2002, 10:29 PM Watch it, bub. You aint easy on the eyes either. :mischief:
Sultan Bhargash Nov 07, 2002, 10:33 PM
Is Maui around? Are we gonna get another turn before I have to crash around 1am Eastern?
joespaniel Nov 07, 2002, 10:44 PM I dont think so.
Care to offer anything for Pottery? :groucho:
Sultan Bhargash Nov 07, 2002, 11:02 PM I got pottery. I think we are even in techs, I have nothing to offer you at least in the message screen.
I guess I am going offline as soon as I reply to the replies to the replies of all the threads I am in ---- 1000 posts since October 1!!!!
mauiduck Nov 08, 2002, 12:28 AM Ok guys, off to Joe...Germany is at war again with the Russians!...:). One of our cities broke out in riots because the people were bored and restless and the war had purged the troops from the cities. The Great Kaiser Von Duck ordered more troops to be built and was confident that the settler would calm the cityes nerves. Germny has captured two workers. We humbly ask that they be allowed to pass unfettered. BTW I am going to be out of town tomorrow until about 11:00PM Eastern. I’ll make it up by an all day/night session on Saturday, I just need to head over to Honolulu for business....
joespaniel Nov 08, 2002, 07:52 AM See you tonight maui. :)
Game sent to SB.
Scout "invades" Germany. ;) I see that you two are scrunched together. :D
Researching Map Making so we can all trade maps finally.
I am not used to small maps and the huge corruption, I usually play on large. Packing cities in tight around the capitol.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 08, 2002, 01:55 PM Russia sent an emissary to the Ottomans who recieved with civility.
We are pleased to hint at the development of another temple and another military installation. The Ottomans are nothing if not pious and well trained.
Round 38 is on to Maui...
mauiduck Nov 08, 2002, 11:27 PM Unlike the Ottomans Germany continues to abandon all "religon" in favor of the war appartus which will allow us to have peace in our region. Another settler has moved out to the plain past the mountains near Berlin on the other side of the range to build another German city. Since Germany has received such cooperation from our friends, (a small token of thanks will be forthcoming), Germany has decided to build the next city between Berlin and the ruins of St. Petersberg in order to create a logical link for our workers. Our mighty laborers have connected dyes to the cities and this will give us more time to build militarily and forgo religous developments until later. Germany is taking the girly-man Russia to school. They are veak und flabby. But We...We are PUMPED! And hear me now und believe me later, Germany will crush all girlie-man countries vitout breaking sweat und den ve PUMP YOU UP!!!!...:)...On to Joe BTW...
Sultan Bhargash Nov 08, 2002, 11:39 PM The gang is all here! Let's go!!!
EDIT: The gang was all here. I get so excited when I check my buddy list and see you both online. Now Maui is gone. I will be going too soon, I guess...
Sultan Bhargash Nov 09, 2002, 12:11 AM Hope we can really try the "all dayer" tommorow...
joespaniel Nov 09, 2002, 02:02 PM
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/lol.jpg
Literaly almost fell off my chair, thanks Sultan Bhargash, for the laughs. :)
joespaniel Nov 09, 2002, 02:08 PM Uh, since I revealed your map (sorry!) I will do the same.
I will have map making in 4 more turns, and will exchange maps with both of you.
Next turn I will post a screenshot of mine as well. :)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 09, 2002, 05:34 PM No problem about the map exposure, Joe, I would have done screenshots myself but I was taught how to use a computer in an Amish school.
Turn 39 off to Maui. The Ottoman empire are distressed to announce economic problems have forced us to reduce our science budget in order to pay for new armament of our lone warrior. We hope to be able to bring something to the table when we bargain with our allies - for now we have one worker, no gold or gold per turn, and no significant science. Um, er, um, please don't crush us!!!
PS: Joe the scout who took those photos may have been exposed to radiation... you should send him back to your capital for a checkup ;)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 09, 2002, 06:47 PM I wonder a bit about that map, Joe.
How did you get it? I assume you put an embassy in my capital (nice scoop!) to see the Big Harem.
Very interesting; your picture above tells me almost as much about what you are up to as it shows Maui anything he might not have known...
mauiduck Nov 10, 2002, 06:17 PM OK I am finally f#@$% back...My server cr4ashed big time and he had to fdisk and then the network card went buggy and so on and so on..I am reistalling PTW right now. Because I use another machine for e-mail and browsing, I have the latest of all game save. If you guys want to crucify me, I totally understand as I helped ruin some good game time, but I promise you that I was freaking here to as I worked to fix this machine....:argh: Anyway, re-installing PTW games coming soon...Maui
Sultan Bhargash Nov 10, 2002, 10:30 PM Game is back on to Maui, nice turnaround gang. The Ottomans would like to ask the Mongols to "remove their forces from our territory" but that isn't an option in this hobbled diplomacy screen. Or perhaps they might offer us 1 or 2 gold per turn for the right to keeping around our secret bases? That would help me get science on track...
joespaniel Nov 10, 2002, 10:34 PM ok, we'll leave, and the map trade option is still good in 3 turns.
mauiduck Nov 10, 2002, 10:44 PM off to joe...Germany continues to become a premier military power soon....:)
Sultan Bhargash Nov 10, 2002, 11:20 PM Round 41 is on its way to Hawaii.
The Ottoman Empire is pleased to announce major improvements in defense, including the promotion of a warrior to swordsmen and the unveiling of another barracks (with condolences to the family of the citizen who fell from the scaffolding working overtime to finish them). A worker joins our party as well.
We can see the Mongol scout headed towards our south coast. I would advise Genghis that that region is fully explored and devoid of huts, and that scout might better serve your empire as two additional shields to whatever project your nearest city has cooking...
joespaniel Nov 11, 2002, 11:31 AM Mongols round#41 ends with troops heading for the nearest Russian city, which will be "annexed" to our empire in about 3 more turns.
2 turns until map making, then we can trade.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 11, 2002, 12:09 PM Ottomans, the dread turn 42: not much going on really. We plod onwards at an unnacceptably slow level of science (I would be curious to hear from my comrades if they are having similar problems raising beakers?). We continue to act out of total character with every Civ game I have ever played by not invading or threatening our neighbors...
Game to Maui...
mauiduck Nov 11, 2002, 12:24 PM OK 42 is off to jo...Germany continued to build more military and established another fine city in the plains to the north east of Berlin. Two divisions of swordsmen and spearmen moved to the outskirts of Moscow. Another complement of swordsmen and archers are also moving over the rugged mountians towards Moscow. The Russians seem to be reeling from the Trash-Can-against-the head-in-the-back-of-an-alley-James-Caan-BEATING Germany has given her and has mustered no troops to even remotely threaten Der Fatherland. Of course we have no idea what is going on between the Mongols and the Russians but as it stands right now Russia appears to be crumbling quickly. Germany stationed some troops for security along the Western border and they could also be available for garrison duty when the cities grow. It appears that the Mongols and the Ottomans are dressing each other down for what appears to be a Holy War in the making. Being a sound Christian nation, Germany hereby renounces its involvement in any wars of religious dispute that might arise between the two powers, citing too the German struggle against the Russians for control of Chrisitian hearts and minds in the region....BTW my science is trucking along quite well but judging from your sentence I think we proabably have two different approaches to science research.
joespaniel Nov 11, 2002, 12:48 PM mongols - turn42
A tough decision, troops poised to attack Russia encounter a barbarian camp close to our cities. We by-pass it and leave it to follow on troops to deal with. A warrior is killed attacking the camp, but an archer is right behind.
The advance party has reached the Russian border, and sees a spearman and warrior in defense.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 11, 2002, 04:46 PM The Ottoman people definitely wish we could go to war with Russia - everyone will have a piece of that old lady but us.
However, thanks to the dedication of another citizen "working himself to death", we are on the eve of christening yet another temple. Mayhap neighboring German cities will flip to our superior culture when they see the beneficence of our beloved Sultan?
mauiduck Nov 11, 2002, 05:06 PM Should a German city "flip" we would expect that the Sultan would deign to give it back as we would do the same. However should the Sultan deign not, the two Swordsmen in the region are there to help ensure we can mobolize to take it back as well as a few more cities...:)
joespaniel Nov 11, 2002, 05:45 PM
Mongols (turn 43)
An exciting turn! We unveil our newest "wonder-weapon", the catapult! It is VERY efecyive in a combined formation, as the local barbarians just found out. :D
We demand tribute from Catherine, all of her gold! Then, on further reflection we decide that we want regular tribute, but she says that is not possible.
The Mongols declare WAR on Russia!
Mongol troops push to the gates of Kiev, and lay siege to the city. The catapults are en route, and will smash them to little pieces. Our troops have begun a propoganda campaign in the mean time, yelling at the towns inhabitants, calling them chicken.
:mischief:
Game sent to SB.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 11, 2002, 05:51 PM Turn 40something...
Well it isn't really part of Bhargashian creed to force those who would rather join our culture to go back to their own warlike nations, but I suppose we would try and be helpful...
mauiduck Nov 11, 2002, 06:10 PM Your cooperation is sincerely appreciated and you will also receive compensation for the transaction...

Sure. Watch. :D
Turn 45
Mongol troops descend on "Chicken" Kiev, a battle is to be fought!
Barbarians slaughtered, their camp is next.
Several new workers completed, road building program expanded.
Barracks completed, more ordered.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 11, 2002, 08:03 PM You guys sound so big...
Game is to Maui before 10pm EST, a glorious road now connects our capitals mr. duck so make with the luxuries... actuallly another few turns before I will extras hooked up...
joespaniel Nov 12, 2002, 01:12 PM Mongolian forces are converging on Kiev, and the Russians are doing the same. It will be a large battle...
A few more turns and all Mongol cities will be in the trade network, so meanwhile we build barracks.
Sent to SB.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 12, 2002, 01:29 PM Our next round completed, as is a road linking us to the German capital, as is our first mounted fighter, who we have sent to check on the health and well being of a Mongol scout in our vicinity.
We have attempted to initiate a trade for technology from the Mongols, but we have heard some very disturbing things about what they do to dogs in that empire (see avatar above...)
mauiduck Nov 12, 2002, 08:06 PM Game off to joespaniel a while ago. More swordmen were produced. More settlers to come soon...
joespaniel Nov 13, 2002, 08:23 AM Mongols (turn47)
The battle of Kiev has begun! Russian archers attack our formation, but are repelled, and our spearman is now a veteran. Next is our turn, we assault the city after bombardment.
Accepted map trade with Ottomans, ours is sent. Offered to trade world map with the Germans, we await their response.
I am at work all day today, so see ya tomorow.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 13, 2002, 08:57 AM Ottomans (turn 47)
The Sultan completed the world map trade with the Mongols. An aide says that on looking at Joe's thorough map his eyes misted up and he said "My god, there is so much room". He is rumoured to be considering launching settlers into the sea to expand the empire, but worries about corruption...
joespaniel Nov 13, 2002, 03:49 PM In between shifts...
Mongols (turn48)
The battle of Kiev begins, our catapults bombard the defenders to no avail, but an archer kills a Russian warrior outside the city. Other troops move up into attack positions.
The Russians counter-attack with warriors, but are defeated and an archer is promoted.
Game sent to SB. :D
Sultan Bhargash Nov 13, 2002, 03:57 PM Ottomans turn 48 (permanent vacation).
The great east-west road from our farthest Western city thru the capital to Germany's border is complete. Our borders grow as country folk are convinced that our pacifistic, pious culture is the way to go on Hellionsworld.
mauiduck Nov 13, 2002, 05:29 PM Germany turn 48
More military is built as production on a Settler is speared by using our military might to coax all the will our people have for Father Germany. Our lone warrior group, thouygh wounded, has managed to wipe out another encampment of heathens and has discovered a surprise to the sout east end of the continent. German hereby annonces to all nations that the ruins of St Petersburg are the furthest in that direction Germany will go as our growth and future lay to the south-east of us. Germany claims this as part of the Rhineland and says a great peace will result as well as prosperity for all if Germany can annex her new found lands in peace.
On to jo
joespaniel Nov 14, 2002, 07:24 AM Kiev bombarded again, an archers kill one spearman defender. Next turn the Mongol Stack of Doom will arrive, and rain destruction down upon the Russians.
New city established, road building continues, and our first veteran swordsman rolls off the assembly line. This process to be repeated. :D
Sultan Bhargash Nov 14, 2002, 10:26 AM In the Peaceful Ottoman Empire, turn 49 was the turn we discovered the joys of literature. Imagine our surprise when we went to trade this with our colleagues the Germans and Mongols and they laughed at us for being backwards!!! Luckily the beseiged Russians didn't have it yet, and Catherine said she wanted something read while she lay in bed waiting for her enemies to overrun her... And she did give us a tech in exchange.
The turn is off to Maui, the ball in the court of my colleagues. Can anyone spare mapmaking to a cash poor, backwards kingdom???
mauiduck Nov 14, 2002, 08:27 PM Off to Joe...WE have discovdered that we have lost Iron! The culture of the Sultan has overawed the miners. The Sultan is wise and kind and said that they will give the Iron back to Germany as a gift. Germany's new settler moves toward the ruins of St. Peterburg to found a new city, rumored to be called "Rhineland". Our other soldiers move out to take out a barbarian encampment to the south east of us.
joespaniel Nov 15, 2002, 03:49 PM Mongols (turn49)
Several barracks and the first mongol swordsman completed, several more in production. Horsemen as well.
Next turn will be the decisive battle for Kiev, and its incense. 3 archers and a catapult eagerly await the order to attack.
After Russia is dealt with, we shall continue expanding to our east, we have no plans to compete with our neighbors to the west.
Game sent to SB.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 15, 2002, 04:25 PM Ottomans celebrate 50th turn Jubilee!
50 turns, and the Ottomans have created four thriving cities, produced an excellent standing defensive army, made peaceful contact with all civilizations, worshipped the dread gods of Hannibal, and cornered the market on western Iron.
Two working citizens joyously gave their lives on this occasion to prepare further fortification and defense.
mauiduck Nov 15, 2002, 09:09 PM Germany celebrates 50 turns with more military and our fine Swordsmen cut through the Russian archers corp like a hot knife through butter. plans to lay siege to Moscow are now under way and we are confident that city may fall to us soon.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 15, 2002, 09:30 PM Friday 1125 EST:
I will hang in there tonight for a little bit longer, hoping we can do another turn...
EDIT: Friday 1154 EST Okay now I go to bed. Request since you guys were both online tonight: could we try and commit to getting several turns done over the weekend? More than one a day at least?
joespaniel Nov 18, 2002, 02:22 PM Maui - whats up? :mischief:
I havent gotten a save in over 4 days, are you...alive?
mauiduck Nov 18, 2002, 05:05 PM Joe, I never got latest save from SB.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 18, 2002, 05:39 PM oh, right blame it on me... I sent it to you, you posted about it in post #241. There has not yet been a turn 51. So either you didn't send it to Joe or Joe didn't get it. I always play my turn within an hour of it showing up in my email and send it on to you immediately!
joespaniel Nov 18, 2002, 07:50 PM Glad to hear from you, maui. I thought a surf monster might have got'cha. :D
ok, I checked the saves, I dont have it, so one of you guys do.
If you want me to re-send the last one I have, let me know.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 18, 2002, 08:07 PM No the last one you have is 50, right?
Already played that one. And Maui posted as having played it. He needs to send it again to you.
joespaniel Nov 19, 2002, 06:16 PM Mongols (turn50)
Pulled back our forces at Kiev, waiting for new swordsmen to arrive.
Workers busy connecting cities, and bringing more luxuries to our capitol.
Game sent to SB.
Sultan Bhargash Nov 19, 2002, 06:36 PM After a long hiatus, turn 51, Ottomans:
Yes in our benevolence we simply give the Germans back the iron which had come under our cultural border. Maybe we were glad Mauiduck wasn't a victim of the Maui shark attack today. Maybe playing against human brains/personalities a LOT different from playing the AI (who would have to drag that iron out of my dead clenched fist!)
Note to you guys: I am about to go on a business trip to New Orleans which will last till after thanksgiving. I have equipped my laptop to play out the turns but the turnaround will probably a bit slower for me (ie 24 hours instead of the standard 10 minutes it takes me to get the email, play the turn and send it on to Maui here in the backwoods of Virginnie...)
mauiduck Nov 19, 2002, 08:00 PM OK off to Joe...not much happening for us except that our army of swordsmen continued to march towards the remaining Russian city. Our settler is but a couple turns away of settling "Rhineland" and it appears as it will serve as the border of our lands. BTW the shark attack happened just down the road here. But it happened at a place near an outfall and she was outside a hundred yards out which is where the drop-off is. It sucks but think of it this way, you have a better chance of being killed in a car wreck on Maui than a shark attack....:)
