Hi everybody,

I just played my first GOTM (13) and this is my first post... wanted to say hello. And also to say... THIS IS COOL! I've been a Civ III junkie for so long (mainly hang out at Apolyton) and I don't know why I haven't started playing these before now; it's fun. I just finished my first GOTM with a Space Race victory (are we allowed to talk about our wins before the results are posted? I won't say the year then...). Anyway I look forward to being a part of this, what a great idea. :goodjob: Thanks!

I have been contemplating how to write my first post and this presents the perfect opportunity. Like Apolex, I've been a Civ3 junkie since I bought it on the day it came out, and I spent much of the first year over at Apolyton. I came over to CFC a few months ago and have read most of the forums before posting, so as to not retread over ground like some newbies do. I've been playing mostly on Emperor (winning) and Deity (losing) of late, so GOTM 13 has been a breeze for me, though my victory (Either Space or Conquest) will come later than some because I didn't play the game with a sense of urgency necessary to win as early as some people are describing. Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself.

It's always nice to read that people like the GOTM. :) Welcome to the club, guys!

(Did someone mention Apolyton? :satan: )

Hi,

here's another new member of the crowd.
I read somewhere in an newsgroup about this Game of the Month. I like the idea and will try to participate :)

I noticed one odd thing, or maybe not so odd - if I rethink ... hope I don't get banned right at the beginning when mentioning the nocd crack <ups>

Anyway: I just downloaded the GOTM13 and It did not load, some DataIO error ... after sime time I remembered that I play with a nocd exe for ages ... So I searched for an hour ;) and digged out the Civ CD and startet the original exe and the GOTM loads fine. I'm just wondering because I never had any issues with the nocd version ...

Now, off to my first GOTM. Guess I cannot yet stick to the rules this time - have to work on my play style to adopt to the rules and get used to taking notes during play (for the QSC).

Off now, reporting back next moth with the results for GOTM14 ...

Taronas,

Hmmm. I use the nocd as well, but have had no problems with it at all. I don't see anything wrong with using the nocd IMO if you own the game, which I have since day 1. My cat destroyed my Civilization II disk and taught me the lesson that things can and DO happen to cds... especially the ones that are important (see Murphy's Law.)

Anyway, welcome my fellow CivFanatics newbie (class of Nov. 2002!) It's interesting that within a week, 3 of us (new participants/converts) have revealed themselves here. That's pretty good growth, and you gotta figure that only a percentage of us chime in like this.

Hey, hey, welcome too, but there will be no discussions about the NoCD crack here!

You showed that you do actually have brought the game en didn't say how to use the crack, so I'll let it go. But you did risk a ban!

Hi, I'm yet another newbie. I have just completed my first GOTM and I just want to say that I think it's a really great concept. I don't expect to rate very highly but I found it interesting to play a game where I did not set the parameters. Also the no reloading when you do something silly takes a lot of getting used to.;)

Welcome aboard!:) No reload is also good practice to get us ready to PLAY THE WORLD (since there is no-reloading of any kind in the multi-player mode).
