What? Civ III is best played on a LAN? Well, we gotcha covered...

There will be a Lan Party for Civilization III, Play The World on January 4th, 2003 in the Houston, Texas area.

This event is run by the same folks who have managed the Gib-O-Rama (Quake) and the Houton Area Counterstrike LAN Events for the past five years. Players can have up to 12 to 14 hours of continuous Civ III play on a 100 Mbs switched LAN, and at least $100 of door prizes will be given away.

This could turn into a reoccurring event if there is enough interest. Those interested can find more information at http://killerbeesoftware.com .

you should wait Firaxis release his fourth patch fixing the multiplayer play before organizing such an event... ;)

The worst issues with PTW are due to the Internet problems. We tested the game on a LAN and it seems to work to our satisfaction. If people keep the product, they might as well get some use out of it. This is the perfect venue for that.

Besides, the party is in two months. I suspect there will be a patch...or two before then.

Sorry you can't make it, joe. We are starting to get sign ups. Anyone in the Houston area should check it out.

Well, we have a whopping four people signed up. With that number, we don't need a 70 seat hall, we can just go to someone's house.

If we don't get more signups real soon, we're going to give the hall to our CS group.
