Hey all,

I started out a game with the Malakim yesterday on the current WM 8.11 build (Emperor difficulty + adaptible difficulty option, it shifted to immortal around turn 70-80 or so).

Apart from the usual barbarians smashing themselves against the walls of my low hammer high food/gold capital, in the last 50 turns (am currently around turn 100) I was assaulted by three 7/6 strength hill giants, two of them enraged. Is this normal? Because it seems pretty crazy, and I haven't encountered them popping out in such numbers in previous games. Not to mention that desert terrain provides an inherently lower defense mod for cities, mitigated somewhat by Malakim +20 strength on desert terrain, however. Plus, low desert hammer yields make constant warrior pumping to stay alive a pain. So...

I would say YES this is normal because of your higher difficulty settings. I test on NOBLE and it is not unusual for a lone Hill Giant to attack my cities from time to time, or for animals to go RABID, as I like to coin it, and attack a city.

It is recommended to have workers escorted while they work until your culture has created some "safe" zones....

Ah, good to know. Am around turn 300 now (the game's Marathon speed), the difficulty jumped to deity, but getting the conquest civic pretty much ended my defense problems!
