Congratulations on 300 posts! I remember when I got 300... j/k

I had 1,000 one time, but they took about 400 away because of the RPG. :)

From what I can discern...

Name: This is your name. (ie. Bismark)
Formal: The name of your civ (ie. Germany)
Noun: The name of your people (ie. Germans)
Adjective: The name describing your cities, units, etc. (ie. German)
Title: Your title (ie. Chancellor)

Of course, you can get creative. My favorite so far is MP Moderator Chieftess of the Spammers. :)

Ok, we are ready, I'll start it soon. :)

What should our landmass, world size, water coverage, barbs, climate, temperature, age, and difficulty be?

Probably normal for all of them except barbs, size, and difficulty.

So what do you think?

I'm happy with any settings though the map size should correspond to the number of civs. We have 5 humans. Are we including any AIs? I prefer the middle range of difficulty but I'll play any level.

Let's decide on the settings so we can fire this one up!

FortyJ
Nov 13, 2002, 07:16 PM
My recommendations for world settings are:

Map Size: Standard (if we add comps for 8 total civs)
Small (if it's just us five...)
Barbarians: Random
Map Type: Random
Climate, Age, etc.: Random

Victory Conditions: classic Civ3 plus any of the new ones
(if so desired)
Accel Prod: Yes or No (doesn't matter to me)

donsig
Nov 13, 2002, 07:23 PM
I'd say no to accel prod. I like classic Civ3. :)

gunning1
Nov 13, 2002, 08:13 PM
Ok, so standard map size, should we take out the AI first, and trade techs with each other, or should we be totally dependant upon ourselves? BTW, I'll have to start this tomorrow after school. :)

*Octavian sees a few Fanatikans here...*

Can I still join? Pretty Please?

donsig
Nov 13, 2002, 10:08 PM
Well, if we include the Donut Guy we'll have six humans. Why not just play without the AI? That would be very interesting... Every man for himself!

FortyJ
Nov 13, 2002, 10:16 PM
On Accel. Production
Yes, keeping it off does preserve the "classic" civ feel, but turning it on allows for shorter games which seems to be more practical in PBEM games. If we are able to each play an average of one turn per day, it will take 540 days to reach 2050AD. In other words, we would reach 2050 AD sometime in May of 2004!

On playing only humans...
I think that would be a very interesting game. Are there any other PBEM games with eight players yet? It could be a lot of fun. If we did this, we should also structure the order of players by what time of day they can play (ie, morning, evening, etc.) and require a certain time limit on moves, so that we don't end up waiting a week between turns.

donsig
Nov 13, 2002, 11:25 PM
Hey FortyJ, what makes you think we'd all last till 2050AD?
Well, I can usually play in the evenings, eastern US time. :)

Ok guys, who has the game!

Since this is regicide does that mean the only way to win is to kill off all the other kings?

#1 - I sent the game off to Plexus late last night, and I believe he sent it off to Octavian as well.

#2 - Yes. Actually, it's not the only way, but it's the probably the best way :).

I just finished my turn. The game has been sent to gunning1.

Also, you can rename your king. Now, instead of Hammurabi running around, it's Octavian.

Good question, Donsig.

I got the save from CivGeneral and sent it on to Plexus on the 21st. Plexus, where are you?

Octavian X
Nov 26, 2002, 11:34 PM
My copy of Civ3 screwed up in an attempt to reinstall the game so that I could at least attempt to play an error free game of single player PTW. For the time being, I need to be dropped from the game.
Sorry. :(
