Bremershaven is a Fanatikan founded city. The other cities were founded by the Aztecs and conquered by Fanatica in The First War.

Bremershaven and Tlaxcala have libraries and their borders have expanded! :) New Falcon's Nest has stopped growing. It will have a library in 4 turns and once its borders expand it will have access to a wheat tile. It will then be able to grow again. Everyone in the SW Province is happy!

This map shows our province nicely. (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/border-prop-490bc1.jpg)

No, the official name of this province is not Southwest Province! We need a good name for this province. I'm not that keen on Big Valley. I kinda like Aztec Plains but that seems more like an area name than a province name. So, citizens please post your suggestions for names for our new province.

We also need a provincial capital. I'm partial to Tlaxcala since I live there. :)

Oh, and build queues. Please post suggestions for build queues and tile useage here!

Congratulations on your appointment as Governer from the Cartographic Office. I would also remind you of your Citizen Naming rights, but you are already aware of them. :)

Please remind your deputy, however, that he or she will be eligible for these rights as well and should register his or her city name with our office (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34519).

I'll have to look up Lebrecht. I took 2 years of German in college but only learned that I'm no good at learning different languages. ;)

I've already named Bremershaven but will remind my deputy of their rights.

That reminds me. I need a deputy! I'll get on that presently! :)

Please note that the first three posts of this thread contain info on our cities and build queues.

Great work on the summary posts at the beginning of the thread! I hope future governors look at this as an example of how to structure their office threads.

I think that Bremershaven should definitly knock out a Settler next and Tlax (hmm..reminds me of a horse I know...) should build a barracks. IMHO

I don't think barracks are necessary yet. Not unless/until these cities become unit manufacturers. Due to the slow nature of our current army a barracks in Tlaxcala would not help with healing units up. Perhaps New Falcon's Nest would be a better bet for a barracks. That is close enough to the front to be of assistance if we build an assault road due west from the city.

Then you're suggesting that Tlaxcala doesn't build military units?

Mr. Governor, we are critically short of spearmen to relieve our veteran swordsmen from garrison duty as well as horsemen for our offensive against Japan. Please take this into consideration when planning your build queues.

Tlaxcala may better serve by pumping out some regular spears to relieve the veteran swords now doing garrison duty. As the cities in question are in our back ranks veteran status is not a great concern. I would not bother with a barracks until offensive troops are needed from Tlaxcala.

Bremershaven would be a better production city for the offensive units in any case.

donsig
Nov 13, 2002, 12:52 PM
I see. I queued up spearmen in Bremershaven since one can be outfitted every 5 turns and already has a barracks. Would you prefer that we immediately recruit horsemen n Bremershaven?

Shaitan
Nov 13, 2002, 12:59 PM
My gut reaction is yes. We need horses for the offensive. The problem is there needs to be cooperation between the provinces (and Domestic) for the overall build scheme.

Horses pouring out of Bremershaven would make me happy though. :)

After writing DFZ #21 and updating the city info in this very thread I find this request highly amusing, Mr. President. This post (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=591478#post591478) in the turn chat instruction thread called for Bremershaven to begin recruiting spearmen after completing Fanatika's first library. This was not done, the old queue remained in place and settlers were recruited instead. Upon reading the chat log I see no over-ride of SW province build queues. I am assuming the executive office did not bother to change the build queues for this province. I prefer to look at this as a case of oversight rather than an unconstitutional over-ride of a governor's queues. In the future I do hope the President will look at each governor's build queues and verify that each queue in the turn chat instructions matches the queues actually spooled up in the Civ 3 game. :)

Not bad, Mr. President, but how about Von Sieg(meaning "of/from victory")? While I believe our "endsieg" still lies far ahead of us, this province can still show it's pride in our military with this name.

Also, many thanks to everyone who supported my Lt. Governor confirmation with their votes, and thanks to donsig for having faith in my as yet unproven abilities. I will try my best to uphold the standards of all before me who have made Fanatika the great nation it is today.

@donsig, I will report to this office with regularity from this point forward. Please feel free to PM me if the need arises.

Doh! It was indeed an oversight. I loaded the instruction thread at about quarter after 3 while preparing for the chat. It never occured to me that there might be an instruction change at that hour. As I can't do the easy upload from my home PC I send the files to disorganizer to post so I never happened to refresh that thread.

I'll be sure to refresh the instruction thread at 4:15 from now on. ;)

Perhaps the fates were working here though. If we hadn't had this disconnect we would not now have a settler ready to counter the American intrusion and siezure of our northern iron.

Nov 14, 2002, 06:28 AM
The fates have indeed been kind to us. I posted the chat instructions right before leaving work that morning. You'd think we were in two different time zones since one of us ending his day and the other was just starting his! I was wondering if you checked the build queues or just looked for changes, but now I see that you didn't even see the post at the time. I have switched tactics. I'm posting queues right away now, then I will edit them if citizens demand changes. :)

New City Placement
Because of a discussion in the New City Placement thread in the Citizen's sub-forum, an informational/discussion thread has been started at this link (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=36640) to the citizen's sub-forum. There is a map and explaination of a redirect for the Settler/Spear combo in Eklektochtitlan to the Dyes in the South. The Dye city has not yet been polled, but should be soon. The Dye city will be placed outside any known Province and will fall under control of the Domestic Department. This new city placement (if approved) should start discussion on a new Province to the South.

In doing maps for the RPG land office, I noticed that 3 of our cities are involved in some sort of geographical hokey pokey - with one foot in and one foot out of the province. donsig, I hope I am not overstepping my bounds by requesting that FortyJ draw up a border proposal not unlike the one which allowed Penguin to join the Taliesin Province.

Which brings me to my next point. Citizens, we are still looking for suggestions on what to name the province. Please post here for the next 24 hours and I will speak with the Governor to decide how we will handle the naming process.

The Province of (to be determined) thanks you.

Shaitan

@Donovan - That's due to setting the borders along natural boundaries. We'll find this a lot, especially along river borders as cities like to be on the fresh water source.

The poll to switch to Monarchy in the upcoming chat is overwhelmingly in favor. LINK (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37117). All Leaders and citizens should make plans with the knowledge that we will be entering anarchy en route to Monarchy during the next chat.

Donovan Zoi

Citizens,

The Southwest Province needs mayors. At this time, I believe we have none in place. If we do, please stand up and be counted!

Cities are Bremershaven, Tlaxcala, Eklktochtitlan and New Falcon's Nest. Please note that while Octavinium is partially within our borders, its city proper is not. Octavinium will belong to our next province to the south.

I myself would like to express interest in becoming mayor of Tlaxcala, should I not be returned to this office next term.

Governor donsig, please empty your PM box and alert me when you have done so!

Please read and comment on this proposal (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=605436#post605436). It would require Bremershaven to switch to FP as soon as possible.

Cyc
Nov 23, 2002, 11:44 AM
Please do not switch Bremershaven to the FP yet. As per my last post in the above linked thread, I feel the FP would be well placed in Bremershaven, but that it's construction should not start until after we have become a Monarchy. An offically binding poll wouldn't hurt either :) .

Tile optimization

In Tlaxcala, please move worker from unirrigated road(1-1-1) to any forest tile(1-2-0). Corruption will not affect increased production and we only lose 1gpt; this allows pikeman to be bulit/trained in 5 turns instead of 6.
