Knight-Dragon Nov 13, 2002, 01:31 AM Sorry guys; no go yet. Game will only arrive in S'porean stores in two more days, if ever.
So, until next week..... Or pls go ahead with this one and I'll join the next game.
joespaniel Nov 13, 2002, 07:44 AM We can wait. :)
Knight-Dragon Nov 13, 2002, 07:59 AM Thanks. :) Just for that, I'll offer you peace shld we first come into contact.
So, what's the procedure? Do we really use email or simply upload to the CFC server and then post the link here?
Bill_in_PDX Nov 13, 2002, 08:48 AM Hello all,
Looking forward to this game, and can certainly wait for K-D to get his copy of it.
joespaniel Nov 13, 2002, 03:40 PM Welcome to Bill, whom I have not had the pleasure of gaming with yet. :)
OK guys, I'll be starting this one, and passing it on, soon. KD can catch up on Monday. This thread will be for posting our summaries.
Is the current turn order OK for everyone? If donsig and Bill want to switch, tell me now, after we start its fixed.
Also, the CFC chat room is a good place to "meet" for gaming sessions, and to coordinate strategy. Or just spam. :p
KD - In the begining, its easier to e-mail the game to the next player. Later, if it gets too large, we will have to upload it.
Speaking of which, check your PM boxes for my e-mail address, and please send me all of yours.
joespaniel Nov 13, 2002, 04:58 PM Turn 1 - Carthage
We settle on our starting position, without moving. A decent spot, nothing special. When our border expands, we shall have wine.
Decide to research pottery, need a granary here.
Game sent to Bill. Also sent an e-mail to Bill and donsig with some helpfull hints.
I goofed up the original order when I set it up, here is the turn order:
joespaniel - Carthage
Bill_In_PDX - Celts
donsig - Rome
Knight-Dragon - China
4 random AI civs
Knight-Dragon Nov 13, 2002, 08:34 PM Questions : -
How do we actually do diplo betw human players? Thru chat or here? Or PM?
I assume no secret stuff right, like secret non-formal alliances etc? :crazyeye:
Is it really a good idea to be posting what you're doing every turn here? 'Cause I assume eventually somebody may go to war with someone else? :viking: Or is this a coorperative game (but with only 4 AI civs; not much of a challenge  )?
What's the general game level? Monarch?
donsig Nov 13, 2002, 10:12 PM I don't know K-D. This will be my first PBEM game unless gunning's starts first. joe's been playing he'll have to guide us.
Knight-Dragon Nov 13, 2002, 10:13 PM Join the chat now, donsig. We're there!
joespaniel Nov 13, 2002, 10:15 PM Monarch level, pangaea, enhanced production.
Maximum carnage. http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/flamethrowingsmiley.gif
You guys can decide what rules there will be, however I urge that diplomacy be conducted here, unless between allies ofcourse.
The chat room is great for all that stuff.
Bill_in_PDX Nov 13, 2002, 11:36 PM King Bill looked down from his vantage point on a hill toward the green grass and coast line below him. There was an abundance of wines and wheat in this enclosed valley.
He was not fully impressed with his current location, and ordered the caravans to move just a little further northeast to find the perfect settling location.
donsig Nov 14, 2002, 12:06 AM The band of Roman settlers found themselves in a spot they did not like. Too far from the ocean, yet too close too the ocean! :crazyeye: Forests to the south so the workers are sent north to scout the territory. The settlers decide to move west...
joespaniel Nov 14, 2002, 07:33 AM I win! :p I am the only one left with a city.
Ohwell Nov 14, 2002, 06:12 PM Hi guys!!! Glad to see you all back "together" again! :) I don't have PTW yet, but I am getting a new interest in CIv3, so I might buy it soon! I have a good expereinces with Civ2 PBEM, and I look forward to Civ3 PBEMing with all of you.
donsig Nov 14, 2002, 06:53 PM Oh, well, look what the cat drug in! Long time no see stranger! Let us know when you get PTW. I *think* multiplayer will be fun. :)
Knight-Dragon Nov 14, 2002, 07:05 PM Yeah, I have always been wanting to crush a human opponent.... :D :p Glad to see you around, Ohwell. ;) Although I always run into you elsewhere....
I got the saved, but no PTW yet, so.... :) We'll resume broadcasting next week.
Ohwell Nov 14, 2002, 07:11 PM Well when the price is driven down a tad, I'll go down and pick it up.
Oh, btw K-D, crushing a human opponent is very difficult... :sniper:
Knight-Dragon Nov 14, 2002, 07:30 PM Not when there're two of us.... ;) :p
Knight-Dragon Nov 17, 2002, 11:03 PM Finally gotten PTW, for S$49.90 and they didn't even provide for a CD case!  And it was only S$5 less than what I paid for Civ3...
Anyway, founded Chang An, the City of Eternal Peace (yeah right :p) after consultations with Taoist priests and fengshui geomancers, where two 'dragon veins' intersect. :) My part of the world looks pretty good... :yeah:
Over to you, joe. ;)
Knight-Dragon Nov 18, 2002, 07:27 AM Errr, while I was playing around with the terrain sets in PTW, loading up SP games and so on, and then loading up the PBEM game that I sent to joe, accidentally stumbled onto this, err, rather serious bug.
I know where Bill and donsig are now..... donsig's to my immediate east and rather near while Bill is a long way away on the other side of the pangaea....
Anyway, the bug had been reported by someone earlier in the bugs section. Shld we restart this? It'd be a pity since I got a really great starting position (rivers!). :(
joespaniel Nov 18, 2002, 08:06 AM Did everyone put in a password?
If so, that shouldnt have happened. No biggie though, we can restart.
joespaniel Nov 18, 2002, 08:26 AM I have restarted, the new game is sent to Bill.
There is one change, I am Japan. :ninja:
Lets all agree not to load the game except when its our turn.
Dont worry KD, its ok, you didnt know how it works.
Now you do. :D
Remember to overwrite the save before sending it. And pick a password, write it down (I almost forgot mine!).
joespaniel Nov 18, 2002, 08:27 AM Turn 1 - Japan

Now you do. :DWell, at least I am honest..... :p And I got such a great position - my city was betw two rivers and there're hills and incense too.
I was thinking that reloading will show my turn (SP thinking) again. At least, it shldn't show me someone else's....
donsig Nov 18, 2002, 09:16 AM Well, my start wasn't that great so I guess I owe K-D a big thank you! :goodjob:
*donsig wonders if his new start will be any better...*
Bill_in_PDX Nov 18, 2002, 11:49 AM I liked my initial location. Two wheats, four wines, and lots of grassland.
Oh well.
I will play my first turn in the next few hours when I get home.

:( Ouch. Sorry...
My new location is slightly better than my old one, so hopefully yours is too.
When we had to restart, I was counting on being 100% surrounded by jungle...
Bill_in_PDX Nov 18, 2002, 06:05 PM King Bill was dizzy from the world changing so quickly.
He decided it was best to settle immediately. His tribe had access to many bonus grasslands, a river, and soon, dyes.
donsig Nov 18, 2002, 06:15 PM The little band of Roman settlers begin wandering since the grass is always greener...

*donsig wonders if his new start will be any better...* I know - it looks bad. And about 20-30 tiles east of me only. I was thinking an early warrior rush is a workable option..... :mwaha:

Evil. :satan:
Knight-Dragon Nov 18, 2002, 07:58 PM The gods must be really fond of the Chinese. The hardy band of the first Chinese tribe found itself on a hill in a likeable region and will proceed to found a new city the next age. :)
Knight-Dragon Nov 19, 2002, 06:00 AM Almost missed the email fr donsig; just happenned to check. :) Phew.
Anyway, founded Jin Chen (the imperial capital). :)
Over to you, joe.
joespaniel Nov 19, 2002, 09:20 AM Japan (turn2)
Nothing.
These games are slow until you get past the first few turns.
Heres a nice screenshot of my starting position.

The Celts are also on a massive expansion program.
Knight-Dragon Dec 03, 2002, 06:09 AM Bill, do you have other techs to offer? Pottery is relatively low on my priorities right now, and it's easy to research.... ;)
Game emailed to joe.

donsig Dec 10, 2002, 07:43 PM 21 is the last one I played, too. Where are you joe? Working double shifts again?
Knight-Dragon Dec 10, 2002, 07:53 PM Oh, he was online last night and the same morning, but too lazy to play I guess. He was spamming up the Colliseum forums, last I noticed. :)

Meanwhile, back in the game: Roman archers head north to conquer Gaul.
Bill_in_PDX Dec 12, 2002, 07:09 PM yes, while the game was indeed forwarded, the save wasn't quite right. So while we all would like to blame donsig, for this and other issues, alas 'tis my fault.
