Congrats Basel:goodjob:

You did a very good job kicking out posh Liverpudlians. Now they know what is to show Fowler the door. Unfortanely you decreased the chance(already very slim) of Besiktas winning the UEFA Cup by putting Liverpool in the UEFA Cup.

Congrats again.

wohoo! Go FC Basel! I hope you get in the same poul as Ajax so both of us will at least have a small chance of getting some points :p I just laughed my ass off during half-time in the Amsterdam-ArenA (Ajax' stadium) when the scores were put on the big screen. 3-0! What an achievement! Congratulations! :goodjob:

They huffed and they puffed but they couldn't blow Basel down. The swiss really did play well in the first half, but Liverpool should've buried them in the second.

Some game it was :p

The Swiss are not as boring as some people say... ;)

Well, at least in Football :D

yeah, basel played well during the first half, but liverpool really played rotten at the time, it was as though the didn't believe that basel could score some goals: guess they were proven wrong :D

I just hope the get some points in the next round but even coming this far is a miracle by itself

That was really a great match, congratulations to Basel! :goodjob:

But I also don't like the idea of Liverpool joining the UEFA Cup...

I've never seen Liverpool described as posh before

Since my team is playing to lose at the moment, I am especially pleased when teams like Liverpool lose... :)

Well I called them posh because when they won the UEFA Cup they thought they were the King of the World. They were sure that they would be the next Champions League winners. :p
Actually my anger comes from the Fowler affair. Liverpool did wrong.:nono:

They gave us Litmanen back, so I forgive them for their stupidness of not letting him play. :D

I smell a shameless thread-jack :D

Litmanen wasted 2 years in Liverpool. It's a shame to waste such a great player.

on-topic so this is no thread-jacking anymore: FC Basel rulez.

DAMN YOU!!! DAMN YOU TOO HELL!! Good game though.

Well I called them posh because when they won the UEFA Cup they thought they were the King of the World.
Actually we won the UEFA Cup, League Cup, FA Cup, Charity Shield and European Super Cup.

hey MrPresident, what did/do you think of Litmanen?

From Uefa.com

Group D
Group D brings together Manchester United FC and Juventus FC in a repeat of the 1999 semi-final which the English side won en route to claiming their third European crown. RC Deportivo La Coruna will meet United for the third time in two seasons, last season's contests being won by each of the clubs, while FC Basel are seeking another English scalp after eliminating Liverpool FC.

Oh well, we are allowed to dream, aren't we? :D

 Maybe from the view of Liverpool, indeed. He's brilliant, but very, very, very injury-prone. He has showed his cunning here in the few matches he's played already though. He's an intelligent player who actually makes the entire team play better, a bit a la Cruyff (not close though ;))

And now Liverpool plays Vitesse Arhem in the UEFA cup. They probably win that one!

Litmanen (still) rules....

Maybe from the view of Liverpool,
I equate him to David Ginola. Both are brillant players but they don't show it nearly enough. And in the Premiership you have to be able to play well over and over again. I don't think the English game suited Litmanen either.

way to rough. He did good in those few matches he played for Liverpool, but he got injured, as he would time after time after time. Even here he hasn't played a lot due to injuries. Here his brilliance, technique, pressence and occassional pressence on the pitch however does affect the players and their abilities. Besides that, he's the most popular player of the last 10 years by far!

Yeah but he is not involved in the game enough. Also I don't think he is the best partner for Owen. And given the choice between Litmanen and Owen, I'll choose Owen every time.

I don't like it but I have to agree. Owen is much younger and can have a much bigger role than Litmanen had (although he deserved more I think) for his national team. Litmanen is good. Owen is better. I think Litmanen would make a tremendous coach though (maybe not manager, he doesn't have the personality for that I think).
