There are tons of down right retarded TV shows, but which ones are the dumbest??? In my opinion the top 3 are:

Travel Channel's Ghost Adventure
History Channel's Ancient Aliens
Science Channel's Catch it Keep it

Earthling

Any sort of "Ghost Chaser" show is something probably is a candidate, I forget about what one on Syfy is called. I would say they are worse than UFO shows, for that category of thing.

Some reality and game shows are stupid too of course, I'd expect that is also a strong consensus (eg. "losing weight" and some similarly poor ones)

Well, the history channel has some pretty good stuff. I like shows like Modern Marvel or the Universe.

Total Wipeout. But again that is bad in a good way.

BTW, what are the shows on "MTV" aimed at? Most of them are terrible, except for Jackass, but that is bad in a good way. I thought they were Music TV, but RTV, Reality TV, which is what they seem to be right now. :vomit:

I have a feeling that the History Channel can only get worse the closer we get to 2012.

They'll be playing nothing but stuff about the Mayans, Nostradamus, Bible Code, Armageddon, etc, etc.

Ugh.

Eh. I think that Pawn Stars does actually fit well on a history channel because of all of the old, and well historical, objects that get brought into the shop.

I'm gonna preemptively nominate Plain Jane. The local CW has been pumping it out their asses. Maybe it's just my personal conviction that women look better without makeup, but I really don't see how much lower they can go.

Eh. I think that Pawn Stars does actually fit well on a history channel because of all of the old, and well historical, objects that get brought into the shop.

I do agree that it seemed interesting the first couple of episodes. But now I feel like all of the people are really 1-dimensional, and if this were a sitcom, I'd fire all of the writers.

Every opportunity they get, they rag on the old guy.

Young Fat Guy: (looks at some old stuff brought in) Hey old man get over here!
Older Fat Guy: What?
Young Fat Guy: Look at this, you must have had one of these when you were a kid.
Dumb Fat Guy: Haha, because he's old! (looks goofy)
Older Fat Guy: Shut up Chumly, get back to work.
Less Old Fat Guy: Yeah get back to work. Good joke son, I'll use that same line in next weeks episode.

It seemed like a good alternative to antiques roadshow, without the swindling people out of their valuable stuff to make a profit. (I know they are a business to make money, I just don't like salesman, worse than lawyers IMO).

Yeah man, "Ancient Rome Never Existed, it was Aliens" is great historical subject matter.

It's really depressing to see them pandering to conspiracy nuts and young Earth'ers that take the bible literally.

Some of their stuff is pretty decent, as far as I can tell. The fringey stuff tends to give the whole network a bad rep (understandably so), but a random hour watching the History Channel would probably have taught me more about history than a random hour with my seventh grade history textbook (which claimed that Marcus Aurelius was a horrible persecutor of Christians and Ronald Reagan saved the economy.)

Cheezy the Wiz

Marcus Aurelius did persecute Christians.

Marcus Aurelius did persecute Christians.
Yes, but it made it seem as though he escalated the persecution. As I recall, most of it was not taking place at the imperial level at that point. But you probably know a lot more about it than I do, so I'll shut up.

Although MTV's programming is usually disappointing, I must admit to watching "Silent Library" from time to time. Seeing a bunch of frat boys pull dumb pranks on each other while snickering like crazy is a great way to burn a half-hour of your life.

Yes, I realize that last line could describe everything done on MTV.

How anybody could like Glee is beyond me.

In fact, pretty much everything bar South Park just sucks.

Whatever happened to great shows like "Green Acres" and "Matlock"?

I can't say I don't miss the more simplistic, clean humor of shows like Andy Griffith, Bob Newhart, and Hee Haw.

Glee sucks badly, and, for all UK posters, Big Brother is the dumbest and most pointless show I have ever declined to watch. Why you would want to stay up all night to watch some arrogant, uneducated loudmouths who think they're just brilliant SLEEP is beyond me.

Whatever happened to great shows like "Green Acres" and "Matlock"?Eva Gabor died and Andy Griffith is now 84?

I'd put any sort of reality show, talent show, or beauty pageant at the very bottom. Next would be "Cops" type shows.

I mainly watch the Comedy Channel, sports, movies, and occasionally Hitler Channel stuff these days. I haven't even watched any network prime-time shows in what seems like ages.

I can't say I don't miss the more simplistic, clean humor of shows like Andy Griffith, Bob Newhart, and Hee Haw.Bob Newhart wasn't bad. And Andy Griffith was frequently all that was on back then. But Hee Haw deserves its own eternal place in TV hell. It doesn't really compare at all to the other two sitcoms. It was just terribad.
