I have this problem with my Scenario:
I have 1 extra unit and some terrain to add in the Scenario,
Now I can get the unit to show up but not the Terrain but before I added the unit I could get the Terrain to show up.

This is the way I typed the Scenario search file:
..\extras\Inhabital Mars Mod

Now before the unit it read:
..\extras\Mars Terrain

Then I added the unit, made a new folder and named it Inhabital Mars Mod\Arts\Units with the Pediacons for the unit, and the unit worked but the terrain didn't any reasons?

I noticed that in the Scenarios folder there were some folders that came with the game does this have anything to do with it? I mean do I have to separate the unit and Terrain? put the unit in the extras folder and the terrain in the Scenario folder with its own name? or vise-versa?

I also tried to type it: ..extras\Mars Terrain\Inhabital Mars Mod
..extras\Inhabital Mars Mod\Mars Terrain

I am not an expert on this, but I think the scenario search name is wrong.
Just type in the folder name (must be the same name as the scenario) and the unit/terrain must be in that folder.

Well I know how is is supposed to work.

Like JoeSpaniel said, put your mods in directories under the scenarios directory and then you won't need the ..\extras stuff and separate the file names with a semicolon ';'

Added scenario path searching to Scenario Properties. This path is searched prior to the default scenario folder (the name of the scenario). Each folder in the path must be separated by a semi-colon (no spaces) and should be contained in the root of the scenarios folder. For Example: If your mod is called MyMod.bix and your search path is "..\extras\World War II\;Warpstorm Watercolor Terrain" the game will look for the assets in the following order…
· ..\extras\World War II\
· Watercolor Terrain
· My Mod
· CivPTW
· Civilization III

OK, I get how you have to type it out now the other problem I have now is my file.
My file consites of the following:
Inhabital Mars Mod (file folder)
Arts (inside file folder)
Terrain and Units and Pedialcons (inside the Arts folder)

Now do I have to make a separate folder for the Terrain and call it Mars Terrain? and have the units file in the Inhabital Mars? or should they be together in the same file folder with one name?
(Like I discribed above)

I'm sure after I find this out I should not have any more problems with adding things to PTW.

Now I can't even get the terrain to work it only shows the Default pcx no matter if the Terrain and Units are together or separte folders. Any suggestions?

The directories should be like this:

Civ3PTW->Scenarios->yourMod->Art->Terrian
Civ3PTW->Scenarios->yourMod->Art->Cities
Civ3PTW->Scenarios->yourMod->Art->Units

If you do this and name your mod (for example) yourMod.bix, you won't even have to add anything to the search path.

I Modified the Original pcx and named them Mars Terrain.
Is that Replacing or Adding?

I just don't understand it, When I was making the Terrain it was working but when I added a unit to see if it would work the Terrain didn't work but the unit did
I just don't understand

I tried it on another Scenario North America and I can't get the Terrain to work. I have units added and put the Animname icon in for the units and I want Winter Terrain also in the Scenario.
This is how I type it: ..;Extras;Winter Terrain;North America
Because the Terrain and the Units are in the Extras folder.

then it should be "..\extras\winter terrain;..\extras\North America" or something similar, you get the picture.

Hope that works :)

So you have to type out each individual file
..\extras\Winter Terrain;..\extras\North America?

right. You cant just type in folders and expect the game to be able to find them, you have to say exactly where they are, starting from the PTW\Scenerios folder (which is why I used ..\ first)

Did it work, did you try it yet?

FYI, in the path command ..\ means go up one directory

..\extras\ would mean go up one directory and down into the extras directory from there.

Like GIDustion said, the search paths assume that you are starting in the Scenarios directory.

In addition to graphics and units, the search path works for text (like pediaicons.txt) and sound files too.

What if I have both Unit(s) and Terrain in the Extras folder?
should it read:..\Extras\North America;Winter Terrain

Units in the North America folder,
Terrain in the Default Winter Terrain folder

It will attempt to find each file. During the attempt (for each file individually) it will got through the paths listed in the order specified (see my earlier post for how it deals with the implied search paths) until it finds the file. Once it finds the file, it stops looking for it in other directories.

In your example, it should read ..\Extras\North America;..\Extras\Winter Terrain

The ..\Extras path is not a default one (unless Mike B changed something and didn't tell me about it).

Thank You very much for all your patients
Finally I got it to work but I have a problem that I refer to in the second Question.

Now I have two questions,

1) What went wrong when you modify your own Terrain and you can't get it to work in the game, from what I just learned I typed in the search path; ..\Extras\Mars Terrain;..\Extras\Inhabital Mars
Now the unit works which is in the Inhabital Mars folder,
The Terrain is what I can't get working.

2)Is there any more text (besides the #ANIMNAME_Power_Armor Power Armor) that you have to put in the PEDIALCONS?
Or is the most common problem MISSPELLING?

#ANIMNAME is the only required one, you can also set the icon to use in later ages, i.e. settler, worker.

The way you typed it above should work if you have it set up right. Inside of either of those two folders should be an "Art" folder, a "Terrain" folder in that "Art" folder, and then all your terrain files in there.

What I meant in the first question was is there anything that I could have done to the Terrain (using the wrong Terrain for the game (I used the Terrain from the Original Civ 3 pcx) or coloring the PAL. wrong (coloring the wrong flavor)

I got the Terrain to work when I was making the Terrain but for some reason I can't get it to work with the Units. (Let me check it over again for some misspelling)

Can you zip up the mod and directories you modded. Off hand, I can't think of anything else without looking at your .bix and terrain files.

Sure thing :)

Terrain 1 (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/Mars_Terrain_21.zip)
Terrain 2 (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/Mars_Terrain_22.zip)
Mars Bix. (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/Mars.zip)

Mars bix is in my Scenario folder in CivPTW
Mars Terrain is in my extras folder in CivPTW
