The Council has asked for Luxuries. We will send Furs, Spices and Silks.

Road to Kazgungudom; irrigate that tile, too.

We find some Saber ships in deep ocean SE of Free. We sink two Transports, which were carrying two Armies and 9 Modern Armor. We damage a vCruiser and lose a Stealth Bomber attacking the nearby Carrier. Five attacks, and our remaining Bombers are out of range.

The Council's letter, and Saber's lack of follow up in Free, helps me to believe that Saber is planning to invade The Council for a final blow. First, destroy their Apollo Program, to deny them a Space Victory. Then, once their forces are landed, to conquer The Counci's continent and claim it as their own. The Council is far weaker than we are and Saber, with Armies, could easily wage a war of attrition and just grind up The Council's military.

So I am sending our fleets towards the NE coast of The COuncil, in order to prevent, or at least delay, such an event.

Airlift one worker to the mainland.

Spacebarred our newest settler on the mainland; he could have gone to Marad-Dur, which somehow shrunk to size 1.

Change some Cruise Missle builds to rCavalry or harbors.

Send Furs, Spices, Silks and 1000 of 1200 gold to The Council. They asked for the luxuries (and we should have sent them earlier, if we had been thinking). The 1000 gold they did not ask for, but it will help them rush some units to defend against Saber. We also send Iron, though why The Council would need this I have no idea. We Accept our offer and send it on its way.

Saber Invasion
We have 6 Transports in Unshackled and 2 in Debt-Free, for 8 that are close to Saber. We have 6 more in Lake Port, but it would take them 2 turns to get close to Debt-Free (Lake Port ot Weltonspolt in 1 turn; Weltonsplot to 1S of Debt-Free on turn 2). With the initial 8 that means 48 units to invade; 6 more adds 36, for a total of 84. On the mainland I count 34 Modern Armor not in cities and 40 Mech Infantry, most in coastal cities. I was planning to use empty hulls also, as bullet bait.

Pondering what to load and how to sail.

The Council asked for some workers to help clear damage and such. We have 12 workers on the mainland that we can gift to The Council. Two more are already 'moved' this turn. In Gong we have 13 more and one slave.

We can gift the 12 to The Council and airlift those in Gong back home over the next few turns.

We do not find any Saber ships with our Stealth Fighters.

None of our Bombers can reach the Saber naval units around 11NW.

Tactical Nukes are like Cruise Missles, limited to the inital land mass, unless loaded into a sub.

Sink 4 Destroyers around 11NW. eBattleship and eDestroyer remain. Ships already at sea sail towards The Council and find 2 Saber vDestroyers.

Don't have any destroyers to scout for subs in the path our Transports might take on their way to Saber. Move the John Clayton based group 4S to clear the way next turn. New rDestroyer in Lake Port, Sub Oppressor sails to help. Transports in Lake Port sail into Coastal Geeks.

Move other ships towards The Council.

Settler is joined to Marad-Dur, making our capital size 3.

On 11NW, the cities of Freeborn and Sid City are now part of Saber. This has led to a lot of riots. No naval forces remain in the area. Mech Infantry and a Stealth Fighter are all that remain in Martin Luther King Jr. on 11NW.

The Gulag got nuked and is now isolated. We'll tell The Council. At this point a phoney war works to our advantage, somewhat, now that the luxuries are cut-off. We don't have anything to lose. I'll be sending them a note about that shortly.

Lots of rioting cities but they are mostly easy fixes. I tried to get as much gold as I could last turn. That meant we had no cushion for war weariness.

Well, getting workers to The Council won't work as I thought. My plan was to build some airfields near to The Old Gong Isle, gift the cities around the airfields to The Council, move our stack of Settlers onto one of the airfields and get The Council to declare war on us on their turn, sail from The Old Gong Isle to Gong, capture the settlers and start flying them back to their home.

The Council does not have any Transports. And Privateers cannot carry cargo.

I was hoping to use the turn or two before The Gulag is reconnected as the time for this Phoney War, since it would minimize the number of turns of less luxuries, which might be bigger than we expect.

Thinking out loud....


We could gift them Tujana (6) of Gong; it has an airport already built and Furs and Silks are within its initial nine tiles. We could add some airfields around it, and move the settlers in. The Council would have to rush a unit their next turn (303), or airlift one to the city; I would probably airlift the Mech Infantry in The Old Gong Isle. They would also have to declare war, too; or we would on our Turn 303. On Turn 303 they will move to reconnect The Gulag, but that won't happen until Turn 304 or 305 (worker dependent). Even if they do reconnect on 304, they can still capture the settlers and start sending them across the ocean, which is the purpose of all this anyway.

We have plenty of Furs and Silks, though all are on Gong. We do give up a airport in Gong, but we have others. More importantly, it would give The Council their own source of Furs and Silks.


2.0 - Banned Exploits
2.1 - Coordinated Capturing of Units
It is prohibited for teams to capture and recapture each turn units such as workers, catapults, and other non-combat units for the intent of using them twice in a turn against another team.


This mentions capture and recapture. There will be no recapture. Once they are gone, they are gone. Besides, this exchange saves us 28 gpt; why would we want to undo that?

Nothing has been sent to The Council about this, though the earlier post hinted at it. Not sure how you guys felt about a gift like this. Plus, I want some time to think it over. I dislike rash decisions.

We lost our Saber invasion force to Nukes. And that was my fault. Our forces were spaced at cxc, not cxxc, which would have been safer. Saber's nukes were targeted between the two stacks and affected both of them.

And we lost the ships that were damaged by Saber on Turn 303 also. A total of two battleships, three cruisers, three destroyers and eight loaded transports perished. Fourteen MechInfantry and 34 Modern Armor are now merely a radioactive memory.

We learn that Saber captured/destroyed The New Yard, on the south coast of The Council, but it looks like it was just a raid, one Destroyer and one Transport.

On their turn The Council declared war, took the settlers (expected) and now offers peace.

Yeah, now our gpt is positive, but that is a small comfort at the moment. I knew it would improve some by gifting workers to The Council and their claiming our settlers. So their loss was good economic news. And that as we lost units invading Saber we would no longer pay their support. I didn't expect to lose all those military units at one time, especailly by my own blunder.

It did take Saber two Tactical Nukes to get those boats; now they are down to one TacNuke, the same as us.

But enough whining, time to get down to business.

Here and Now
We accept Peace from The Council.

Need to scout out the West coast of The Council for Orange ships. We do, finding 4 NucSubs, 1 Transport and 1 Destroyer. We sink 2 NucSubs.

We find a Crusiser and Transport to the NE of 11SE. Stealth Bombers sink the Cruiser; Transport survives.

Consider abandoning 11SE. Too far away for our Stealth Bombers to reach, so our MechInfantry are on their own. Last turn Saber hit wtih 6 Stealth Bombers; there is one visible transport and two Saber Marines died trying to invade Dusty Harbor, so only four units are left. No, I'll let these units stay. 11SE is lost, but the longer it holds out the less Saber can throw at The Council.

New settler, fleetingly named W107, is joined to Ninhursag-Ki, to bring it to size 8 and the ICBM completes in 6 not 7. We are forced to hire a clown in the city.

We clean up one polluted tile 2SW of Kremlin.

Need to send some goodies to The Council. All we can send is our World Map. We also send 100 gold.

Send notes to Saber and The Council.

Meant to airlift workers from Gong to the homeland. Forgot until just now while I was posting this. Blast!

11SE fell to Saber. Monte Cristo was destroyed, Dusty Harbor and Footloose were captured. Saber gained an MGL, which is visible via the embassy.

The Gulag is still isolated from the rest of The Council, so no trading this turn.

We have four boats on station to the SW of The Council.

The hill 1W of Kazgungudom is re-railed but that does not affect the build time for the ICMB, still 22 turns.

Disband LS-002 and LS-003 in Coastal Geeks to help the destroyer build, now in 2 turns not 10.

Move LS-005 and LS-006 into Lake Port and disband, too.

Do not disband LS-007 or LS-008 in an attempt to keep Saber looking out for our transports.

Gifted W073 and World Map to The Council. Could have sent some gold, but it didn't cross my mind.

After the end of the turn, global warming did something by Teal Landing, but I could not tell what.

Still unable to send luxuries or resources to The Council.

Mine the Aluminum hill 1W of Kazgungudom; ICBM build in Kazgungudom drops from 21 to 16 turns.

Mirror of Meleet heals in Debt-Free.
Ishme-Swishme heads towards Numenor (where our carriers are).
Sub Grabber sails around the north side of The Council.

In a few turn, plan to send our ACs and support units out looking for Saber's ACs. It will be risky, but if we can find them and kill them then The Council might be able to build the SS Engines. If we do nothing, then they creep along at 1 spt and they will need 50 turns to finish. donsig said 40 turns, but I think he made a math error.

Plan to send a Tac Nuke and some Stealth Bombers and Fighters with that group. With an ICBM for backup.

It will take at least 6 turns for all our forces to be assembled are ready to move out.

Thanks for your comments. I know there doesn't seem to be many options for us at this point. We need The Council to win or else Saber does. We have had to take some chances recently and they did not work for us.

But one way or another, the end is in sight. We need to help The Council stay alive long enough to build their SS Engine. If we have to be Saber's punching bag for that to happen, so be it. We cannot match Saber in direct military might, so we must rely on razzle-dazzle and overall sneakiness, too.

If we can get our ICBMs built and find some juicy, orange colored targets, that would be nice. :trouble: Very, very, nice, indeed; almost precious.

We lost people in the two strikes, but only Thombriel, Ninhursag-Ki and Azzura Coast have rioted. Not nearly as bad as I thought.

We can get Marad-Dur's ICBM build down to 8 turns from the current 44. Ninhursag-Ki will probably starve a size or two before it is reconnected.

I am considering rushing a worker or two, 20 gold each, to airlift home and start cleanup. But we cannot send any workers to The Council this turn.

The Council sends Economics and World Map. We accept their gift.

The two nuke strikes by Saber did not hurt nearly as much as I thought they would. We took some population losses in the two cities, but only a small number of cities (Thombriel, Ninhursag-Ki and Azurra Coast) went into revolt. This is very different from the first time we got plastered.

We have three workers that are free this turn to reconnect Marad-Dur. Which will slow down us sending Workers to The Council. They still have 5 slaves in Gong to move across.

One new settler on the mainland that needs a home.

Mirror of Meleet and Sub Pesterer sail into Farkle Liberation. Next turn the will arrive in Numenor.

Sandra Bullock goes Saber seeking, but finds nothing.

Katharine Hepburn sails into Vista-Free, but I forgot that TacNukes can only be carried by NucSubs. Drat.
