View Full Version : Arab conquest scenario
Scurcus Nov 20, 2002, 08:13 AM This scenario might not be the most original of ideas, but I hope you like it anyways. It´s about the arab expansions from 634 AD to somewhere in the mid 8:th century. It could also be played as Franks and try to build Charlemagnes empire or as Tibet (wich was not quite as peaceful as it is today). Most of the empires in the game can be interesting to play as, since most of them have their problems, China has the mongols in the north, Japan has the Ainu and Byzantine and Persia has the arabs.
The main civ is of course Arabia but I have used el mencey´s euroasia map so there is room for a few other civs as well:
European kingdoms
Byzantine empire
Arabia
Kelts
Visigoth
China
Centralasian kingdoms
Japan
Frank empire
India
Sasanid empire
Eastasian kingdoms
African kingdoms
Tibet
Anglosaxons
I will post a screenshot, or if someone else wants to do it, feel free to do so.
Please give me lots of critics as that is the only way to improve this and future scenarios.
I would like to thank el mencey for his excelent map.
Scurcus Nov 20, 2002, 08:24 AM And here´s the file: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/arabia.zip
And this is a slightly updated version. http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads2/arabia2.zip
Yoda Power Nov 21, 2002, 07:16 AM Hey cool i see you used my classical scenario as ground and then build on.:goodjob:
but you should give some credit to el mencey as it is his map
Scurcus Nov 21, 2002, 04:04 PM Yes I found out that after I posted the file so I changed the readme file now.
Scurcus Nov 21, 2002, 04:33 PM I was planning to update this scenario today with some changes, but that will have to wait because the file refuses to get small enough to use the normal attach function, but I think I will do it tomorrow instead.
I would be happy if anyone know how to make a zipfile smaller or why this scenario seems to be so big..
PriestOfDiscord Nov 21, 2002, 06:35 PM This is a pretty good start, though the nations feel a little disorganized. You really do make a good effort towards your scenarios though, thank you. :)
Scurcus Nov 22, 2002, 04:03 AM Can you say exact what you mean when you say disorganised, so that I can fix it, is it the nations I have choosen that are wrong?
Scurcus Nov 22, 2002, 04:18 AM I have made some changes wich are posted in the same post as the original file is.
One change that I did was editing republic so that Bazantines don´´t get the normal republic and get too good.
Scurcus Nov 24, 2002, 11:31 AM here´s a screen:
Lynx Nov 29, 2002, 11:43 AM is this PTW?
Yoda Power Nov 29, 2002, 01:17 PM no
Lynx Nov 29, 2002, 05:21 PM ok, i was just curious, im going to get PTW in 3 hours
Al Zan Nov 30, 2002, 02:22 PM good
Lynx Nov 30, 2002, 05:09 PM hehe, its pretty cool, good job.
Helium Hound Dec 09, 2002, 09:45 PM Khazaria is missing, it was a very important country in this time especially if you are centering it about Arabic expansion. If not for them the Arab Armies would have just went around Byzantium, and hit Europe at it's weakest point(North Eastern Europe).

OK, I will see if I change this later, but probably not before jan or feb, but thanks anyway!
Lynx Dec 24, 2002, 06:37 PM if each turn was a year, and the scenario started in 634, then by 655 i had overwhelmed the byzantines and persians and was entering italy and nearing the gibraltar straights. Hehe :D
Tiger_Nation Mar 07, 2003, 02:59 PM Erm kinda the same here but i could take tripoli so i got a few cities in peace then took the centralasians and then circled southern turkey aiming for constaninople.
Yoda Power Mar 08, 2003, 01:02 AM Lynx and immortal what level are you playing?
Tiger_Nation Mar 16, 2003, 01:27 PM I think i went on either regent or warlord
Scurcus Mar 16, 2003, 01:47 PM is the scenario too easy for the arabs?
i think they may have too good units but arabia at least have kind of difficult economy, so they have something against them at least..
Tiger_Nation Mar 18, 2003, 03:22 PM not really because if you don't pay a lot of attention for your troops after the bzantium and persian wars your reserves of riders are uterly depleted and you need to build a whole new army to gain anything.
Kennelly Apr 26, 2003, 03:52 PM Looks very good, started a game as Byzantines.
For Fairness, should I declare war on Arabs or will they declare war soon enough (playing on Monarch)?
Scurcus Apr 27, 2003, 12:01 PM I have tried to make the arabs as aggressive as i could, but i don´´t know how soon they attack so for historical accurasy you should declare war on both arabs and persians.
Kennelly Apr 28, 2003, 04:27 PM Each turn a year? Then it's 690 now;Damascus,Jerusalem,Heliopolis,Alexandria,Antio chia,Aghtamar fell pretty quickly.Ephesos was razed, but then I killed the first Arabian rider and pushed them back.Retook Antiochia 644,even captured Persian Ardebil.653 Arabs razed Antiochia, but then Arabs remained quiet (I thought).Freed Aghtamar, conquered Mossul. But in 668 Arabs began storming again, captured Aghtamar,Ancyra,Seleukia, then turned to razing, destroying Trebizond,Sinop,Cherson.I have assmebled a large force in Constantinople, but their riders hurried through the Balkans and are nearing Greece.
Adding to this,Goths have burned down Venice and captured Ravenna. But for this Visigoths have captured 2 Goths cities,so they won't march forward. But I fear, soon Asia and Greece will be completely lost to the Muslims.
mrgenius May 13, 2003, 06:45 PM wow way different history kenelly. btw, the pope recently declared some priest a saint who led the christian armies to victory when the turks tried to take vienna, but thats different
