View Full Version : A Revolting Question
Wyrmshadow Nov 20, 2002, 10:25 AM Im currently creating/playing a WW2 scenario and tweeking it every day. The annoying part of it is that the Soviets keep grabbing cities through sheer culture. Is there a way to shut that off? I've already make propaganda impossible.
Kal-el Nov 20, 2002, 11:25 AM yes, you can switch of the culture flip. Not sure where that is in the editor, I am guessing in the scenario properties section.
PCHighway Nov 20, 2002, 12:33 PM Only in Play The World. Can you turn it off completely.
Wyrmshadow Nov 20, 2002, 02:05 PM well poop on a stick. thanks for the answer
Wyrmshadow Dec 17, 2002, 03:49 PM Ok, I finally bought PTW and now I'm having trouble finding that culture flip option. Can someone show me the way?
Wyrmshadow Dec 17, 2002, 04:00 PM OK, nevermind that question. I found it by tinkering with PTW. But I still cant see some of the terrain features. I imported a map that I was using with the old CIV3 stuff, but it won't let me save it as a PTW map and so I can't use Sheep, or Exotic Sea food or any of the other fancy stuff. Help me.
Arc-Lite Dec 18, 2002, 02:57 AM I'm certainly not an expert I just got PTW myslef. The maps for Civ III 1.29 are not interchangeable with PTW. You have to get a dedicated PTW map. I know of several map sites but I am at work and will link you to them later if somebody else hasn't done so by then.
LouLong Dec 18, 2002, 04:21 AM It is possible to turn a raw map (no ressources) from Civ3 to PTW.
I have it with Europe, North America map by Robins (?).
Open the editor and the Civ3 map you want then save it as .bix file.
NB You should change the name for otherwise it won't overrride the old file.
Dunno about ressources yet. Standard ones seem OK but I haven't tampered with modified ones. I guess at least you should put the modified ressources PCX in PTW before trying anything.
Hope that helps
PCHighway Dec 18, 2002, 04:24 AM Hmmm, well, upon installing Civ PtW, you create a separate folder, i.e. Civ3PtW, it can be found in your Civ iii folder. Im not sure, but I assume it would work, if you had all the correct files. What you would have to do in that case, is open the PtW folder and replace the resource.pcx files, and any other-personally added files. Btw, stay away from units, just import the map, into a new, ptw-editor made bic. you may have to import some rules, Like the resource rules as well.
Wyrmshadow Dec 18, 2002, 09:23 AM I did import the rules en mass and the new special resources from Teturkhan's maps show up in the rules but they seem to be invisible, no picture for them when I try to use them.

You have to manually transfer the resources.pcx file to the Art folder.
Wyrmshadow Dec 18, 2002, 12:24 PM thanks for the help but i managed to fix it myself, I just loaded up teturkhans map, then imported my scenario and all the cool new bonus resources came up
