melifluous: do you want another go?

everyone: play as much as you can bear. If you have time for 3 or 4 turns only that's OK (sorry meldor, I should really have stated that before!)

It isn't going to matter, this game is finished. It is just a matter of someone taking the pain of moving all the units around to finish it off. The only real power left is Spain, and I was letting them waste all their time trying to cut off our furs. They are really only a pain because they have muskets, so it takes a couple more Zerks per city to raze them. The Russians look tough until you get there and they only have spear defneders and their big offensive threat is a horseman. Same for the Germans. They French shouldn't last past the opening turn of the next round. All of them are on their last legs and are spending much of their pop trying to settle all the land we have opened up. Unfortunately for them, they don't bring enough forces to defend their new colonies. Melifluous should finish it off or get pretty darn close. They only hard cities will be those in the interior. But once all ofthe coastly cities are gone, it won't matter.

Ah, the endgame on a huge map. Makes me long for the smell of Napalm in the morning, or I guess in this case the smell of an unwashed Zerk

Pre-Turn : Turn off the 10% lux, no city needs it, and increase research to 30%, Metallurgy next turn...

Turn 1 (1764AD) - Get Metallurgy and set research to 10%. Heidelburg razed, Nuremburg razed, Kiev razed, Novgorod razed. French Capital Besancon had one spear who died, razed the city. We have destroyed the Strong French, Lord.
Turn 2 (1766AD) - Some other russian city razed...Elephantine razed,
Turn 3 (1768AD) - Seville razed
Turn 4 (1770AD) - Konigsburg razed, Munich razed, Yakutsk razed
Turn 5 (1772AD) - Minsk razed, Palma razed, Cologne Razed
Turn 6 (1774AD) - Hamburg Razed, Tblisi razed
Turn 7 (1776AD) - Berlin razed! YAY! We have destroyed the Solid Germans, Excellency

Well that just about does it for my turn...
LOTS OF ZERKERS ON BOATS HEADING FOR THE EAST COAST OF SPAIN...

Troops are building up on the West of West main island and the East of East Main Island...

Have fun

Germans and French are dead...

Egypt has a single city, Russia have 7 cities and the Spanish have 12...
We have 1420 gold in the bank and are currently clearing 260 gold per turn
We have 55 galleys, 87 caravel and 260 berserkers hehe

199 hours, 17 minutes and 9 seconds so far...

In the year 1784, an especially Zany Zerker tried a French invention called... the shower. Soon he smelled good, so good that all the other Zerkers folowed suite. Soon, everyone loved the Zerkers and they didn't want to fight anymore. Here is what followed.

 A fitting end to the game: A cultural victory. Must feel a bit like a loss after trying to win domination/conquest.... :p

Killer, I haven't got any suggestions, but if you have other games on monarch/emperor, I want to join!

Good job guys!

I had razed Moscow and the Russians were down to a couple size one recently settled cities. I also had razed 3 spanish cities (all size 12). The flow of reinforcements slowed though. There should have been an identifiable train of boats going back and forth. It seemed like they were all in clumps. In another 3 turns there would have been about 60 zerks landing from all sides. I would have ended the game in another 10 turns, really just movement time. We were just too big too quickly and had too many early wonders. With this big a map, Zerker culture reigned supreme.

Ain't no thang though, still a great game. Though a bit slow at the end as Killer said.

OK, who is up for another game of this kind? Maybe with a few of Lees WM civs mixed in to bring the number to 32 (Lee: would you please allow me to do so?)

I have no copyrights or anything like that to my new civs.
If anything, Brazil in particular could use another review.

Go ahead and use them.

Me! If you want to have me. But are you planning to play two giant maps at the same time Killer (K8 and the new one)?

Aggie: I actually am thinking of a somewhat smaller map for the Zerker follow on. You are logen down for it, too ;)

gothmog: maybe deity but without the extra settler for the AIs......

Gothmog
Feb 24, 2003, 12:01 PM
heh, I was just looking over Bamspeedy's attitude article in the War Academy. Turns out that disbanding a slave worker is an attitude hit. Considering I must have disbanded a couple hundred on my turns alone, the AI's must have really hated us. Surprizing to see all those hearts in the cultural victory screen. How quickly they forget when you have your boot on their neck.

Erik Mesoy
Feb 24, 2003, 12:15 PM
The hearts on the victory screen automatically come from all surviving civs. Has nothing to do with attitude.
Sorry :) .
Dead civs have a beaten up leader, whether you or someone else killed them.

hrm hrm, K9 is in the making atm, another 362x362 map, but this time with far less land (so that with OCP all tiles can be covered).

Ideas?

This time indeed 31 civs? Only possible victory conditions: conquest/domination (if possible on a 362x362 map...)... Archipello map? Increased move rate for ships?

I played a couple of emperor games now (and won them, including GOTM). Your idea about only one settler for the AI sounds great. I think I'm ready for that...

Feb 25, 2003, 02:59 AM
Aggie: you pretty much hit what *I* thought on the head...

I will also heavily edit the map, for one thing to have less land, for another to have more sea areas, third, to have smaller 'ecolocical areas' - i.e. to 200 tiles of plain in one spot, 120 of mountains in another.... a more... European landscape ;)

input from other interested players? gothmog?

Sounds like fun Killer, but I really can't take on a huge map game atm. Too much RL stuff going on and the wife is already getting a bit ansy about my 2 current SG comitments. I am looking for and opportunity to play with some of the LK civs in the future though. As always timing is everything.
