Is it just me, or is Willis McGahee the best player in college football this year...

Also, won't it be a travesty when Ken (Stickman) Dorsey wins the Heisman?

Discuss. :)

Which one is Willis McGahee? Whatever the Penn St. 's running back's name is, he should win in. Over 2000 yards in a season. That is mad.

Ofcourse Clarett could have done it too if he hadn't missed about half the season.

How about Brad Banks from Iowa or Quentin Griffin from Oklahoma.

I think 2000 is the magic number. McGahee should win easily. It does not hurt that Miami has two candidates, and that they are not as good as last year.

PS Does JoePa have any Heisman's in his progeny?

Larry Johnson ran for 2,000 yards, sure, but he sucked against the supposed "big" teams...

Penn State had only one Heisman winner: John Cappelletti, 1973.

McGahee and Dorsey might split votes from each other, which is why an outside candidate like Banks or even Byron Leftwich (your No. 1 draft pick next year, BTW) might sneak in and win it. But McGahee is, IMO, the best major college player in the land.

Dorsey reminds me more of a Jay Barker than a Jim Kelly or even a Bernie Kosar. He doesn't make mistakes, but if Miami ever needed him to throw for 300 yards and three-four TDs to win a game, I'm not sure he could do it.

Larry Johnson, PENN STATE

2000 yds, and quite often he only played for 1/2 of the game. He is a man of class, character, talent and ability. He is one of the good guys. No chest thumping, no "give me the d@mn Ball" And in an era of all this passing(which I think is for sissies) it is so refreshing to see a running back who can take it up the middle and around the end. He is durrable, fast enough, and very important to his team. And the three losses were all because of Poor officiating(but that's not Larry's Fault)

He has EARNED every vote he gets. some of those mentioned were practically handed the trophy before the season started.

Funnily enough, Cappeletti was Paterno's only Heisman winner, as mentioned earlier:goodjob: But there were backs that were much better: particularly Franco Harris and Lydell Mitchell, and none of the great PSU linebackers were ever given the award. Do they ever give it to a defensive player?

Charles Woodson won it a few years back, and he deserved it.
Rarely that's the case though.

What you said about it being decided before the year began is very true. I think this year that person is Ken Dorsey.

Remember, 2000 yards does not guarentee a Heisman. A few years ago, Troy Davis rushed for 2000 yards and finished third to...

Danny Wuerfel (Who had already been awarded the damn thing in August) :(

And as sad as it sounds, Wuerffel's had a better pro career than Troy Davis has had at this point....
