Awesome update, though I'm not sure what happened with Lucky and I, seems rather odd.

Spry, I'm dropping out. RL is getting too much of a pain. Might rejoin later, so NPC me.

Well, I suppose I can only call this dead for lack of interest. :(

I will probably mod again sometime, probably with an althistorical NES of some sort.

It's been interesting modding this, and I have learnt many things from it; paramount among them are that

1) the city-state and trade genres of NESes are really fundamentally flawed for a good number of reasons, and I advise inexperienced mods to stay away from them;
2) NESers do not care about a NES nearly enough to run a single nation collaboratively but yet in opposition to each other;
3) NESers do not do diplomacy for fun.

I think the biggest flaw here was that I always wanted a political NES and a NES of collaborative government, and I was hoping that you would each use almost all your resources to political ends, rather than seeking to expand your monopolies. In fact, that was the very point of giving you monopolies, so you would have plenty of power for whatever political ends you wanted to achieve. Nevertheless, I failed to really give you an avenue whereby you could achieve serious political power.

So what you made this NES was a trade NES, and not a political NES at all, but because I never wanted to mod a trade NES in the first place, the stat system was not sufficient for the purpose, and the monopolies meant that the circumstances were not really right for the clans to engage in increasing their profits. Unfortunately, I did not really notice this at first, and so I let some clans expand. The other problem was the relative importances of the monopolies; I really should not have allowed, say, the Lupus Clan to have nearly as much money as it did in proportion to the Haji, because of the relative values of their industries.

Thank you all for playing, and particularly to Kentharu and Vertinari for actually doing stuff, and also to the (very helpful) prophet, who may now reveal himself.

I would be very glad to hear any opinions on this NES that you have.

Ah, Spry, it's just the times. There have been some amazing diplomatic exchanges in past NESes, like NES2 V for example. Most of these newbies are just retarded.

Don't let it get you down. :)

I hate that it had to end. I had glorious plans for the expansive nations to the south, and the pirates were going to go places too. I had fun being the oracle. :) If you ever need to mull over other ideas for NESes, I'd be happy to be the listening ear, Spry.

I was trying to gain more political power. But I was dabbling in three spheres and likely it just was too much.

The problem I found was that there was no political power to gain. All factions had a fixed vote of 1 so you couldn't gain more seats in the senate. The only thing left was judges and governors. Governors had only the power to raise the militia which, politically, unless you are taking over the senate, was useless. The powers of the judges were equally as pointless. The only "political power" was getting to vote for you, which was frustrating to say the least.
