View Full Version : College basketball is upon us
NY Hoya Nov 25, 2002, 10:05 PM post your college bball thoughts here. Who will win the national championship? Who is your favorite team? What is the best conference this year?
As to the question of the the national championship team, I've got no clue. I can't see a Big East, SEC, ACC or Big Ten team winning it all. I don't think Kansas is as great as everyone thinks, and while I think Arizona is overrated, I guess I'll go with them. The Hoyas of Georgetown are my favorite team, 2-0 as of tonight, with dominating wins over two cupcakes. The Big East will be the toughest all around conference when all is said and done.
gr8ful wes Nov 26, 2002, 09:57 AM My dad is passionate about College Ball. All other athletics, and especially professional athletics are lesser, tainted activities in his mind. He says that College hoops id REALITY TELEVISION.
If I liked basketball, I might agree., I do appreciate College ball though.
No predictions here though, Oh what the heck Gonzaga v Sienna for the championship.
JollyRoger Nov 26, 2002, 11:43 AM My favorite tam is Texas Tech (my alma mater). They play in the toughest conference (Big 12), home of the next NCAA champion (Kansas).
WildFire Nov 26, 2002, 11:45 AM I am going to go for UConn this year because they have another great team even though they might miss Caron Butler (NBA). Although, Emeka Okafor is looking really good right now.

Hey. I get dibs on calling the Jayhawks the next Champeens. This unit does not have the star power of last year's team. Not quite. But it has more heart. As talented as Gooden was, he could disappear at crunch time. This year's team leader, Hinrich, has solid brass plumbing. By year's end, this could be the best ever.

tcjsavannah Nov 26, 2002, 02:50 PM Florida will do what they usually have done under Donovan.. tease with the superior talent but lose to a better-coached squad in the NCAAs. SOMEDAY THEY'LL BREAK THROUGH THOUGH... someday..
My DII team is in for a long year though...
Chris85 Nov 26, 2002, 09:21 PM Go Creighton!!!
I can feel it , this is the year the bluejays are going to finally crack the top 25 and advance to the sweet 16 in March. :D

If they can keep shooting like they did against ND, Creighton will have a decent shot of doing both.

UConn will be solid this year with Okafor and Gordon, but they'll miss Caron in a big way. Okafor will need to develop an offensive game for them to do well this year.
Chris85 Dec 09, 2002, 08:21 PM What ya know, Creighton's 6-0 and ranked #23. :D
Notre Dame's not looking so bad themselves after beating up on Maryland and Texas. :king:
Ming Dec 10, 2002, 02:06 AM The ACC and the Big Ten have supplied a lot of final four teams over the last year. And the ACC/Big Ten Challange this year showed that both conferences have the talent, even though some of it is very young. But that's what the regular season is for ;)
The Illini look tough this year. I expect them to climb in the ratings. The Big Ten Schedule ought to toughen them up some more for tournament time.
GO ILLINI!
