Team repeatedly scores own goals to protest refs (http://espn.go.com/soccer/news/2002/1102/1454712.html)
I usually don't pay much attention to soccer, or "football" as some people insist on calling it, but this was too weird not to bring up. It seems the Madagascar team did this as some kind of protest.

Yep that was mentioned in the last thread as well by me, although wasn't it a cup game or something so it wouldn't have mattered

The team that were conceding all the goals were the one that was scoring them (I think) so they probably just passed it back to the goalkeeper and then let him let it in...

Unless you follow Asian football, you probably wouldn't have heard of Mursyid Effendi. He was a defender on the Indonesian national team, and he deliberately scored an own goal in a Tiger Cup match against Thailand where both teams played to lose. After the tournament, Indonesia and Thailand were banned for a year. Mursyid was banned for life.
I dread to think what's going to happen to this team.
