I'm a puzzled by this:
Special Abilities: A Japanese Unique Unit, it receives a +20% combat bonus
when fighting in open terrain and is very likely to spawn Great Generals
while fighting.
This certainly doesn't explain very well at all on how the chances for getting a GG arise. This is something pretty fundamental to the UU so I'd like to know more details on the mechanics if someone could.
Thanks.

my understanding is the GG spawn in the same way as in Civ4. This probably just means that expereince generated by samurai counts for double (or x1.5 or x3 ...)

Japan has the special ability of "Great General II" this means they add additional points to the great general pool (it does work like it did in Civ IV). I'm assuming this is +2 points, but it could be a higher number and Great General II could just be the title for the ability. I'd count on at least triple the rate though (1 for a combat, 2 for ability).

They get more great general points per xp points.

Just a friendly note: Please avoid using the word "Jap" as it is considered by some to be an ethnic slur.

Was that to me or someone else? I can't ever remember the names of the Jap leaders so I just said Jap for short, which is something I've done for years on the civ IV & III forums.
If I said "You're a Sap Mr. Jap" then I understand.

Well, it's never too late to change. I edited out of the title which is why I mentioned it.

yeah its an ethnic slur, i personally use a lot of them in real life,(well not in front of the ethnics in question) but i don't do it on here, that would be rude.

Well hmm! I already have 2 pages full of infractions for things I never intended to come across negatively, but people took them that way. Thought I was going to get yet another one.
