View Full Version : Regent SG Ottoman Domination
XSin Dec 01, 2002, 01:24 PM Before I say anything else, I'd like to state that this if the first time I'm starting a succesion game. The objective of this game is to dominate the world (see title), preferably before our unique unit is obsolete. No rules in particular except no exploiting the foolish AI. Well enough rambling here are the settings :
Civ : Ottomans (duh!)
Difficulty : Regent
Map settings
Map size : Standard (I'd prefer huge but I understand that not everyone can handle it  )
Map type : Pangea
Climate : Wet
Temperature : Warm
World Age : 4 billion
Barbarians : Restless
Civilizations : Celts, Russia, China, Carthage, Rome, and Greece, Vikings
All win conditions are enabled but we must win by domination (or conquest, whichever comes first)
Game limit : Standard 540 turns.
Roster :

Final notes : I picked the toughest cookies in the jar as enemies for a reason, our 7.3.3 Cavalry would dominate without some competition :D.
I think we should try to destroy Russia first, since their UU comes at the same time ours does and that's not good:nono:

infoman Dec 01, 2002, 05:22 PM X-sin,
I am in the Killer regent level training game with you. Sign me up for this one. Give me a day or two to get a copy of PTW loaded on my computer. Will this game be on the latest patch for PTW? Put me in either the third or fouth spot.
cgannon64 Dec 01, 2002, 05:29 PM I'm in, and I'll gladly go second. I think our top priority civs to get rid of in the Ancient ages are: Vikings, China, and Russia, in that order. The Vikings will just be scary to face, China has a great UU, and while Russia's UU isn't too great, it still comes at the same time as ours. We should try to wait until the other civ's UUs are obsolete.

This is great :D But I think I should restart and up the difficulty, I'm playing as the ottomans solo and I already have the largest amount of cities on regent! And I'm not done expanding yet
Borealis Dec 01, 2002, 05:40 PM I'll play, either on monarch or regent.... I'm currently in several SGs, including the monarch training game, and I'd like to play in a SG where we start out with domination/conquest as our goal.
After reading the RBE5 thread about the Vikings, I have to agree with cgannon64 about taking them out before they get beserks.

Monarch sounds fine. I agree, Regent can be a tad easy, especially in SGs.

XSin Dec 02, 2002, 05:40 PM Alright I'll come up with the game tomorrow, right now I have to post my war progress with germany in your SG.
infoman Dec 03, 2002, 12:25 PM I have PTW now and it will be loaded by tomorrow. Let's roll.
XSin Dec 03, 2002, 04:45 PM Ok, time to get the new save...

Edit :
Before I start, I want to discuss where we should start our first city, I believe we should settle on the coast because we may be on an island (we're on the EAST side of a pangea map and have coast on our WEST). But then we miss out on those hills that could add contain iron, which would make them 4 SHIELD TILES when mined. Also if you look closely, you can see a blue tint on the east side of our view, this is bad for a game with non amphibious units, and we may be stuck here.

I've been having trouble seeing that in the upload folder, so I posted that incase anyone else is. I'll comment on it when I can see it...

EDIT: Bad link. It doesn't come up in the post, and it doesn't come up in the upload folder. Dang upload folder. ;)
infoman Dec 04, 2002, 10:07 AM First move worker to mountain square to right of settler. If, there are no other bonus resources that we want to lock up quick, I say found city where settler is. It is on fresh water which means no need for aquaduct, can irrigate grass squares for growth, still mine mountains and gold, and do not lose a turn of research at the beginning if we move the settler.
Borealis Dec 08, 2002, 04:33 PM XSin, would you like to start? Also, what are the time deadlines for this SG? We should probably establish some, so that others can know to pick up the game if something comes up and the current person can't play. I'd suggest that the first person play 20 turns, then 10 turns for each person thereafter, with a deadline of 24 hours to 'get it', and 48 to play. That seems to be what most people are using for their SGs. Either way, I'd like to start soon.
XSin Dec 08, 2002, 04:52 PM I agree Borealis, but I'm having difficulties with PTW at the moment and won't be able to start until tomorrow.

XSin, it's your game, don't worry about the delay... I just worried that this died, after seeing problems in another SG I'm involved in. Glad to know you're still planning on running it. :)
Manya Feb 20, 2003, 04:02 PM can i join now or is it too late
