Right now early in the game, I have 2 irons. I build 2 Legions for a war with the Americans and end up settling for peace several turns later in which the Americans offer up 5 irons for 30 turns giving me 7. So I build a catapult and another legion, what's going to happen to those units once the treaty is over? Will I lose those units or will they revert to a lower unit that doesn't require iron?

Thats a very intresting question to which I dont actually have a specific answer but if I must guess im going to say that the Iron will stay yours untill those units die but you wouldnt get any iron to use again untill you go below your origional 2 iron (Presuming you dont get any more in that time)

That's one of the reasons I'm asking, if I get to keep the units even after the treaty expires, I need to build some more units so I'll have them for later :) Strategy, Strategy, Strategy!

You get to keep the units, but you will go into negatives as far as resource goes.
edit: Played on Warlord, and it was only 1 unit. Can't say the same for different scenarios.

Thanks belengthy, so I won't be able to build any new Iron units until those are killed off in some way. That is something I should take advantage of quickly :)

Your newly built iron units will have combat penalties if there's no iron for them.

Nice to know, is there any where I can go and read what the penalties are? I'm wondering what's the point of accepting the iron if there will very limited use from it. Keep in mind, I'm only a couple of hours into my 1st game so I don't know what the resources can be used for other than building units.
