The king is dead. Long live the king. :D

Thunderfall and I both thought cracker would be the best person to succeed me as GOTM admin. He was willing if he had the support of the other ones of the GOTM police. And they were all very positive. (And I'm sure all of you are too. ;)) So here it is.

Cracker is the new GOTM admin!

Welcome cracker! You are dedicated to the GOTM, you're good for the job. Hopefully your dedication can help the GOTM increase in popularity, participation, and lower cheating. :goodjob:

Excellent.

I vote that Matrix gets to be the first to post a thread entitled why arent the GOTM13 results out yet.

Quite excellent. I've learned a lot from reading through Cracker's guides and I'm sure he'll be a good replacement for Matrix as GOTM moderator.

So ... is there a QSC for GOTM14? This is a game where comparing the beginning game plays would really help a lot of players!!

A very good choice. I kind of guessed it though 10 seconds ago when I saw forum moderated by Cracker, Matrix.

Since we are talking change in the top management can we discuss the need of change in GOTM? I'll post a poll later today.

Cracker, feel free do your first admin thing and close it if you deem it inappropriate.

Yndy,

Your input is always welcome, but I would hold off on polls for the masses at this point. Give the process a chance to work and see if it includes things that you might want anyway.

Things here operate on sort of a benign form of dictatorship that in the end relies on he who holds the shovel to dig the ditch. With this in mind, we have to seek a common ground that lets the worker bees do the things that craft the forum and game environments into a place where they want to work on their liitle pieces of the daily jigsaw puzzle while still supporting fun and challenging game experience that has a foundation of integrity and consistency in processes.

What you think you want today and what you might discover we might need 2 or 3 months in the future could be two different lists.

Ultimately we will have to balance the wants and needs with a big healthy dose of just good clean fun to come up with the solutions you will see. The player pool includes well over 200 people and about 1/3rd of those are vocal. There is also an active spectator pool of about 200 to 400 other members who rarely submit a game but participate in other ways.

For at least the balance of December things will be business as usual on the game play side while the admin issues crank up for some changes starting with the Russia game in GOTM15 for January.

Thanks for answering cracker,

I will save the poll and message that I have already prepared and will not post it for now. I cannot agree more that December game should be kept as it is.

I consent to the benign dictatorship and in the same time I'd like to send my input to you and maybe others. So I suggest you open an input/suggestions thread or if you won't i'll PM you directly.

If you are willing to open a suggestions thread I think you should do it sooner rather than later as the holiday season is around the corner.

Great! :goodjob:

Now Matrix only has to worry about his survival in the DDPP PBEM game. ;)

So its all official-like now is it? :goodjob:

Well, congrats to Cracker, and at the same time I'm pleased that Matrix is still going to be hanging around to share his experience and input. :)

Just one small point: This (below) is a hell of sentence. You're not a management consultant are you Cracker?

Congratulations, cracker!

I think I'll immediately seize this opportunity to ask my first question to the new GotM admin: Do we now have to submit our games to a new address? The GotM main page still says matrix@civfanatics.net , but I believe his final job as admin is to do the results of GotM 13 and leave GotM 14 and onwards in your hands.

That was what I noticed too. :D Cracker, the clearer you speak, the better people pick it up. It's more important than you would think. ;)

Thanks again to Matrix... Won't it feel strange now, to submit GOTMs to somebody else? Well, to echo Col, at least now you'll be free to complain if the results don't show up quickly enough... ;)

And congrats to Cracker. You were already on the way with your QSC... (btw, I'll manage to submit sooner or later...).
