Kyriakos Oct 01, 2010, 09:08 AM I think that in the future we would have to name the artist in the case of conversions. Although i think it is a bit unfair to have them. This time it is not even that obvious from the title that it is a conversion.
Good job making them into a civ3 graphic, but i suspect that these were the entirely same gfx in the game Emperor, so what exactly are we competing against?
Plotinus Oct 01, 2010, 11:23 AM It would be nice to see a competition thread that didn't contain people complaining about the other entries, you know.
Don't you think it would be a bit more decent to raise such concerns in private rather than right where people are actually voting?
(I'm still voting for the British cities though - excellent work as ever.)
Kyriakos Oct 01, 2010, 11:34 AM Plotinus dont be so quick to judge: Of course i would raise them in private, IF Pounder didnt turn off his ability to recieve pm's ;)
And i didnt feel like complaining in the main thread, since Hyana did post clearly that his work was a conversion. But Pounder changed the format of the entry, and (in my view) now it is a bit trickier to notice that.
However this is a real issue, not to be discussed here, but somewhere: should conversions be part of these competitions? (i dont think there was ever one in the unit ones)
Huayna Capac357 Oct 01, 2010, 01:31 PM I voted for myself because...I'm myself. The other participants, however, were extremely good, especially since mine's just a conversion.
wolf_brother Oct 01, 2010, 01:56 PM Maybe we should make a new rule about no complaining about the rules of the competition in the competition thread :mischief:
These are all great additions. I was really torn on who to vote for. I could see myself or other using any of them for a variety of projects, personal and public.
Goldflash Oct 01, 2010, 09:05 PM I voted for Pounder's Light Stone roads.
Balam-Agab Oct 02, 2010, 12:00 AM It would be nice to see a competition thread that didn't contain people complaining about the other entries, you know.

Don't complain about people complaning about the rules ... wait ... now I'm complaining about you complaining about people complaning about the rules ... recursion ... damn.
(p.s. I voted for Kyriakos' cities. Brilliant as always)
The Guardian Oct 02, 2010, 12:03 AM I can't vote this time, cause I only get one vote and I want to vote for all of them. Great work guys.
WildWeazel Oct 02, 2010, 10:18 AM I can't vote this time, cause I only get one vote and I want to vote for all of them. Great work guys.
Hey, that reminds me, whatever happened to the Giant Radioactive Monkey option?
Blue Monkey Oct 02, 2010, 10:43 AM I think that in the future we would have to name the artist in the case of conversions. Although i think it is a bit unfair to have them. This time it is not even that obvious from the title that it is a conversion.Direct quote from the rules: "Converted files and cut 'n paste files are also allowed, but this should be stated." I agree that it should be stated here as well as in the creator's thread/submission. This is Pounder's responsibility. Take it up in the submissions thread where others can add to the discussion.
Don't complain about people complaining about the rules ... wait ... now I'm complaining about you complaining about people complaining about the rules ... recursion ... damn. Any more posts that are not about how you voted or the merits of the entries will be infracted. This is the warning. Red cards from here on out.
Now it's official. ;)
Meteor Man Oct 03, 2010, 09:23 PM Voted for Golfool's superb plains forest. They add so much to the game...it's wonderful. But all the other graphics were great. :goodjob:
Wolfshade Oct 04, 2010, 03:56 AM Voted for the roads to hell from Pounder & Vuldacon. :) British cities are very close, but behind.
Pounder Oct 08, 2010, 04:20 AM :trophy:Congratulations Huayna Capac357 you have won the Best PCX for the Month of September 2010, you will be entered in the Hall of Fame and also in the Annual Competition.
Plotinus Oct 08, 2010, 06:33 AM Well done, Huayna Capac357 - a close one there!
Kyriakos Oct 08, 2010, 06:55 AM May you produce many more conversions. I guess they'll be needed now.
Ogedei_the_Mad Oct 08, 2010, 07:19 AM That is an awesome conversion there, Huayna Capac357 .
Way to make my old works go obsolete! ;)
tom2050 Oct 08, 2010, 08:57 AM Congrats Huayna Capac357!
May you produce many more conversions. I guess they'll be needed now.
Seriously, man up and have a bit of dignity. He wins, and therefore you decide to quit? These are just for some friendly competitive fun.
Meteor Man Oct 08, 2010, 08:58 AM Yay Huayna Capac357! :trophy: I'm surprised your conversions got the votes they did, but hey, they are rather good! ;)
Keep up the great work! :goodjob:
EDIT: Tom2050 beat me to it.
Kyriakos Oct 08, 2010, 09:12 AM Congrats Huayna Capac357!

This "screw you" goes both ways.
Besides, ever thought that i have other things to do?
Warned for flaming. If you can't post something nice, don't post at all.
General 666 Oct 08, 2010, 02:45 PM Congrats Huayna ! :goodjob:
The win of your conversion might encourage my to try my luck with a new conversion of me as well.
btw ,I have voted for Goldfools trees. Was a tough choice but finally I`ve had to pick something. Good usability has convince me.
Huayna Capac357 Oct 08, 2010, 08:24 PM Thank you very much to all the voters who voted for me! Also, thank you to Kyriakos, Goldfool, Pounder, and Vuldacon for also submitting entries and putting up an excellent competition!
EDIT: I also note that I don't want to cause any bad feeling because of this entry being a conversion; perhaps this entry, due to being a conversion, should not be entered in the Hall of Fame and in the annual competition, and instead the second-place winner should be.
EDIT2: Also, I only entered this because I thought conversions had been entered before; if this is breaking precedent, I withdraw my entry and the election can be held again.
Pounder Oct 08, 2010, 08:46 PM @Huayna Capac357
Conversions have been entered before, this may be the first time winning. The votes are the votes.
You should not be apologizing.
Vuldacon Oct 08, 2010, 10:45 PM Congratulations on your Win Huayna Capac357.
...All Entries are Very usable and Good.
Meteor Man Oct 09, 2010, 01:22 AM You should not be apologizing.
Most certainly not. Your conversion was dang good, and as Pounder said, the votes are the votes. You may certainly enter your files into the annual poll.
Blue Monkey Oct 09, 2010, 12:22 PM I also note that I don't want to cause any bad feeling because of this entry being a conversion; perhaps this entry, due to being a conversion, should not be entered in the Hall of Fame and in the annual competition, and instead the second-place winner should be.The pixel by pixel & palette work required in any CnP production are very under-appreciated. Never be ashamed of offering something for the community to use. You gave credit where credit is due. There are people that enter & win the unit contest with models they have bought &/or animations others have made. IMHO, what you did is, ethically, the same.
nick0515 Oct 16, 2010, 07:41 AM Dude, a conversion is every bit as valid an entry as a completely original work. I've done conversions and they take a lot of work, too. Any new art work is useful and it matters little to most of us whether it is original or not. As long as you're not passing it off as 100% your own original work there's no problem. Congrats on the win. I voted for your entry!
Virote_Considon Oct 16, 2010, 09:31 AM Congratulations, Huayna!
Goldfool Oct 23, 2010, 05:10 AM Sorry if I'm late, been away, Congratulations, Huayna!
