I just made the TechCalc yesterday, can be found here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38631

Now I feel like doing another Civ3 Utility program.

So what would you like me to do?

I was thinking make some sort of tech tree generator. Basically you place tech boxes on a screen like it was a drawing program you also connect them. The program would automatically determine the x and y positions as well as the background with arrows. It would also create a file with all that so you can more easily import it into a bic file. If the editor ever has the ability to import from something other than another bic it would be even better.

I think a tool to automatically build a good pediaicons.txt file from the bix would be awesome. No more typos.

I think a utility that builds pedialicons and civilopedia text with the unit or leaderhead, wonder ect....

I would like to see a utility that would make it easier to add new units. It should make all required text entries, file additions and whatever else is required so that all one would have to do is use the editor to assign a/d/m, cost and chose attributes. I would also like to see a utility that can display, in an easy to read format, all the modifications, unit additions and changes that have been made to a bic/bix as compared to the "standard" out of the box bic/bix.

i like the tech tree generator idea and i'd really like to see that.

i'd also like to see a utility that takes leaderhead flics and makes all the pdx's from them, with correct color pallettes and all.

I was planning on making a tech tree editor, where you can add and move techs by simply dragging and dropping, but I came to a halt the first day, when I couldnt figure out how to open PCX files

:(

Tech chooser...

sounds very very nice.

I'm tired of thinking what X Y point different tech go when changed from editor...

I guess it's too difficult to make...

It will be difficult to me, since I am a Perl programmer, and am not too familiar with VB6. If I find any more tutorials, I may be able to make this thing.

Scenarios myself but I waited for PTW to arrive...

And now that editor has been added some changes I really wanted but still I think it lacks in many cases and many of the options of editor are very hard to use.

I think Civilization 3 could have been even bigger success and I personally would have lot more enjoyed it if the editor would have been better
All kinds of applications like diplomacy editor and such help greatly the scenario making.
I have had many scenarios in mind that could be (not counting the pain of unit creating) but the work needed for the scenario is enough...I think many scenarios don't get ever ready because the extra work needed because of lack of functions and the difficult-interface of editor...

Do it in Perl then, or better yet in Python.

Perl doesnt have a graphical interface, does it? I havent seen a "Visual Perl++" or anything. I wish there were though, or if there is, I wish I could find it.

Perl/tk, wxPerl (early version but the wx library is very stable for C++ and Python, this'll come soon), Perl Win32::GUI, and Visual Perl (http://www.activestate.com/Products/Visual_Perl/) (and a few more I'm sure) are all available.

I'm partial to Python though. You can do nearly anything you can in Perl and still have someone else read your code 6 months after you've moved onto other stuff.

How about an email utility for managing your PBEM games? :-)

I think that the tech-tree generator would be great, especially for new mods. I would really like to see that.
