So I downloaded CIV_GOLD and its in my mods folder and I load the mod and it loads but when I go to play on the mod it loads 0 of the Civs in the mod. HELP! I have no idea what im doing wrong. Did I install wrong or something?

Take a look again at your CivGold installation.
Wrong: BtS\Mods\CivGold\CivGold\Assets\etc
Right: BtS\Mods\CivGold\Assets\etc.

Whatever, move everything from the second CivGold folder into the first one, and try it again.

No I am using a laptop with windows xp.

Is caching disabled?

If not:
In My Documents\My Games\BtS\, open the CivilizationIV.ini (rightclick, open with Wordpad or Notepad), and change:

to 1.

No that didn't work either. Basically here's whats happening. Any mod that I have downloaded (Rise of the Superpowers, Civ Gold, etc.) does load but they don't change that game at all it says im playing Civ Gold when it is really same old Civ4 BTS. Meanwhile any mod that came with the game (Road to War, Rhye's Rise And Fall of Civilization) whenever I load them they work fine. Is there a problem with the way im putting these mods in? They are all in the Bts/Mods directory. Should I unistall and reinstall Civ4 Complete?

First show us a screenshot of the file structure, then we'll see further.

here is the folder now had trouble getting it to fit the space restrictions so this is what i got but if you want a bigger picture i can get that too.

Short explanation for the fix:
Open Civ_Gold.ini (rightclick, open with Wordpad/Notepad), and change

; Modular XML Loading
ModularLoading = 0

to 1.
If such an entry is not present, then add it.


Longer explanation:
Your Civ Gold folder has another name than the default.
You can see 2 Civ Gold .inis in there.
One is Civ_Gold.ini, the other Civ Gold.ini.
The .ini has always the same name as the folder.
Your folder is Civ_Gold, so the Civ_Gold.ini belongs to that.
This .ini has been created upon the first start, because there was none.
If the folder name had been Civ Gold, the Civ Gold.ini would have been used, which has the above mentioned change in it.

yeah i changed that setting to 1 and loaded the mod but I got the same results

Out of curiosity, you are going to the advance menu and loading the Mod? Just because it is in the Mods folder doesn't make it automatically launch -- you have to tell Civilization IV you want to play the mod.

Have you tried other mods? I am curious if it is just that mod in particular or any mod? Try mine for example, or another (if you don't want to download mine which is a bit large).

If you´re trying to play a Scenario no new civs will show unless they´re modded in (like in the CIV Gold scenarios). If you Play Now! they should show.

But since you mentioned you have the same problem with other mods, I can only conclude it´s a mod install problem, not specifically related to CIV Gold. It might be helpful if you told how you´ve got BtS installed. (Also, when installing any mod, check if the actual files are in their respective BtS/Mods/[whatever mod] location.)

Are the new civs in teh civilopedia?

After some experimentation, and assuming you are loading the mod in the correct place, I am almost sure that the zipped file of the mod you are trying to play is either corrupt or your computer is not umcompressing the entire file correctly.

Try deleting the one in your mod folder, then uncompress to the desktop -- then moving it into the folder and trying again.

So i was able to install CIV Gold BTS but when I load the mod i get an XML error on every file in the mod.
