View Full Version : Siam's Wat versus University

I've been going thought the civopedia (fun fun!) and I noticed something odd.

The University requires a Library and gives +2 science for worked jungle tiles (among other things). The Wat (which replaces the university for Siam) does neither of these.

So far, every replaced building give more, not fewer, advantages. Is this an error, or does the Siam building actually not give these two benefits?

Can anyone confirm (or deny) this?

I just played a game as Siam. The Wat did give the jungle bonus, which is good, since this player gets stuck right in the middle of jungle.

I confirm your observation that the Wat does not require library. I built my libraries in a later wave.

Actually the Egyptian UB gives fewer advantages
-1 Culture (2 not 3)
and no Artist Specialists (Temple has 2)

Of course +2 Happy, and Free maintenance, and no need for a Monument are valuable. trade offs.

The Wat wouldn't be worth it if it didn't have the +2 research though.

Jungles are hard to come by in anycase.

Doesn't the Wat also give +3 culture? Even if the Wat didn't give the +2 jungle science, that still isn't "fewer" bonuses. Not every city has jungles. Every city benefits from +3 culture however.

Here's another annoyance.. the civopedia tells me when a building allows a specialist, and what kind, but doesn't specify how many. grrrr

Yes the Wat gives 3 culture, I was just asking about the the civopedia didn't tell me. :)
