Put him in, no questions asked. The number 1 person in hits all time and he isn't even in the Hall of Fame.

Not unless you put Shoeless Joe in too.

And Pete can go in the Hall of Fame, but NEVER hold a baseball job again.

I say put him in, hang his plaque with all of the other greats, and have a nice little display in another part of the museup that chronicles the issue. Nothing major, just a little twist.
And I agree with Fox about his future in ball.

not until Shoeless Joe is put in, and even then only after Pete admits that he really f***** up by betting on baseball and his own team. I'd also say he shouldn't get in until he dies. I'd prefer it if he never made it in.

I say put him in. Sure, he'll have a blemish... But, he was a Hall of Fame caliber player.

He is no more or less of a jerk than Ty Cobb was when he was playing, but the truth, plain and simple, is that he bet on baseball. He deserves the same fate as everyone else who was caught betting on baseball.

Shoeless Joe should go in as well, but the point is that Pete Rose is the all time leader in hits.

Sure, what he did was wrong, but while he was a baseball player, he was a great baseball player.
As a manager, well, that's different.

His talent far surpasses his wrongdoing.

gr8ful wes, I'm glad you started this thread. I had been thinking about starting one on this very subject.

I think that Rose should be in the Hall of Fame simply based on his baseball career.

Whether he should be allowed to work in professional baseball ever again is another question. And any changes in regards to that would have to be based on whether he admits to actually betting on baseball or not.

But it's no mystery that the majority of fans think Rose's ban should be lifted at least as far as Hall of Fame consideration is concerned. Look at the ovations that he received during the "All-Century Team" awards during the 1999 World Series or when his "Memorable Moment" (breaking the all-time hits record) was voted as a top 10 moment in baseball history during the 2002 World Series.

But it's seems to me that Bug Selig's brand of baseball management needs Pete Rose (for PR purposes), or else Selig wouldn't have bowed to pressure to allow Rose to be present at the 1999 and 2002 World Series games. The fans like Rose, and he is a part of baseball history. And he deserves to be immortalized in the Hall of Fame rightly so as one of the greats of the game.

I say let Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame, and dump Bud Selig as baseball commissioner!

Just put him in the HOF... he deserves it for what he did as a player. There are other pond scum in the HOF, why should Pete Rose be any different ;)

Put him in; he deserves to be there based on his baseball accomplishments. Who cares if he made some side wagers? Its harmless; silly silly rules.

Yeah, rasslin's fixed after all and people still watch it by the truckloads...

In fact, rasslin's got better TV numbers than baseball.

And don't even get me started with Nascar...
