I have 2 problems I could use help with.

First I built the Intelligence agency in Kyoto but can not plant a spy. Clicking on the Pentagon symbol just recenters the map and cmd-shift-E does nothing. I think I also had problems creating an embassy before I moved my capital from Kyoto. Is there maybe something about the terrain where the Kyoto pentagon symbol is located that causes this problems? Other games are ok.

Also, in most games the worker foot sounds would stop after playing for a while and a game restart would fix things. Recently however, the sounds have completely disappeared. :( Any suggestions? I can hear other units footsounds and I can hear workers when they start working. I tried deleting both CivIII Preferences and com.westlake.civ3.plist from my home Preferences, to no avail.

I'm using v. 1.21G. I have a QS867 (2001) running OS 10.2.2, plenty of Ram. The game itself has been completely stable and no other noticeable problems.

I put the Japanese game with the spy problem on My dot.Mac homepage (http://homepage.mac.com/richardf/FileSharing.html) since the attach file option indicated a maximum of 102kb and I couldn't make it that small even by zipping it.

Wow. i find that really odd. when i dl your game n load it up, i get exactly that problem- pentagon symbol does nothin, and no footsounds. but, as soon as i load up one of my current games, everything works as normal. Dunno. my best guess would be theres something wrong with that save.. have you tried starting new games and checking if the problem's there, or whether it's just in this game file?

I started a new game and the footsounds came back. I've played a number of games where the footsounds disappeared after time but always came back after relauching Civ. This was the first time they wouldn't come back. No problems creating embassies in the new game, haven't gotten to espionage yet.

Ok. i had no problems w/ the embassies either. Something must be getting messed up with the saved game files if the footsounds disappear like that. The footsounds really aren't that important, anyway.... You can live without em... ;) I still have no idea what could be causing the espionage problem in that other save. If that starts recurring, it could be a problem...

Funny. You can however ctrl-click on Kyoto and select espionage mission from the context menu.

I guess I didn't notice that. That's a good work around. Would have been helpful in the coming war vs the Egyptians. But I finished the game. Thanks, who knows it could come up again. My worker footsounds have died again in my newest game.

A little more information to add to this mystery. I started a new game and, after a while, the worker footsounds disappeared again. When this game entered the Modern Age the footsounds came back. The previous game was completed in the Industrial Age so I never had the chance to see this. Where can I send this so a fix might be included in the next update?
