Who do you think will win the premiership now ?

Man Utd

They have RUUUUUUUUUUD and they will be better when Beckham and Keane come back. They're getting better each game, their only weakness is the center of the defence, cause they still miss Jaap Stam, and of course Barthez's antics in the goal.

BTW Verons goal this weekend was a beauty!

Actually over the last few games the defence has been excellent. Silvestre and Brown playing together have been our best pairing for ages. I cant see Blanc getting back in the team again unless there are more injuries.

Jaap? What happened in the end to the allegations of ahem chemical abuse.

Man United of course!

We're playing as we should have been all season and no one can match us at the moment although tonights game is a potential slip up as Chelsea are another form team.

He still plays doesn't he? And you can't deny Manchester UTD would've been better off with him than without him.

I'd like to say Chelsea but I can't see them being consistent enough for the rest of the season. Ranieri is doing a good job but he still needs another two years to get them to the next level. I can see Man U really pilling pressure on Arsenal but my loyalty still lies with the micers so...vote Chelsea.

He was suspended, and now he's the main reason why Lazio's on top of the chart in Italy. They don't even need Nesta anymore...

And hey, who didn't get suspended for 'taking' nandronol?
It's a crappy drug anyway, I still wonder if it's just a higher level through fysical excersize or that it's used to mask something else. 'Cause else it's pretty useless (let's start a doping thread, it belongs in every sports forum:rolleyes: )

Liverpool. You may laugh (actually you may not) but mark my words we will come good. We will do an unbeaten run a la Arsenal and win the title on the final day.

Manchester United are going to win everything this year and no offense MrPresidentUK but Liverpool are playing Cr*p and can not do anything to get back up the table at least you can win the UEFA next year though:p

Sorry MrPresident, but there's no way Liverpool is going to win the Premiership until they stop destroying good goalkeepers. Dudek and Westerveld both slecked off in quality while playing there and now he's gone Westerveld is leading la liga in spain with Real Sociedad. You need a reliable goalkeeper to win a championship....

OK, maybe not in England, 'cause I'm not overly impressed with Arsenals' Seaman and Man U's Barthez either... :crazyeye:
But I still think Liverpool aren'r going to be champs!

If Liverpool slap the Arse tonight, Man U will win the league.
Otherwise, it's a long hard slog...

Yes I have.
He's a bit inexperienced, but that's not a problem...
He's injured, and that IS a problem...
And Liverpool's keeperstrainer will ruin him soon enough...

Sorry MrP, but Liverpool sure is louzy at getting (and most of all) keeping good goalkeepers...

Woohoo! Liverpool 2 Arsenal 2!
Good work Livers!
And Emile "Ooh, there was a gust of wind, I've fallen!" Heskey even got in there at the dying breath!
I would have preferred a Livers win, nonetheless this puts an entirely different complexion on the season. But what is wrong with Owen?

Sa~Craig
Jan 30, 2003, 06:14 AM
well Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal.

Thanks liverpool all we got to do now is win our game in hand by about 10 goals (its possible) and beat arsenal at highbury and we win the league just so long as we win the same amount of games as they do.

Yeah, the draw gave Arsenal some pressure, something I don't think they can handle. United are going strong and will win the Premiership unless even more people get injured.

The problem with Owen? He plays at Liverpool;) :D

Excuse a Yank for asking, but isn't Man U like the New York Yankees over here in baseball?? In other words, they win so often that people root against them after awhile??? Are people really Arsenal fans over there, or do they root for Arsenal simply because they're not Man U??

Appreciate the insights...

willemvanoranje

I don't think so, Man U is a very good team which wins a lot, but Real Madrid wins much more, and they're still popular as well. I got interested in English football in a great year of Arsenal, and at the time they had 2 Dutchmen (Bergkamp and Helder) there, so that's when I decided to support them out of all English clubs. I think the Yankees can be compared with Bayern Munchen within Germany.

Are people really Arsenal fans over there, or do they root for Arsenal simply because they're not Man U?? Man Utd have won a lot over the last 10 years or so and people do root against them because of that. However it is more complex. Man Utd get a lot of support, especially overseas from the Munich air disaster when 8 of their best players were killed. It was a long time ago but I think it does account for some of their support. Also Man Utd aren't the most successful team in English football history, that honour goes to the mighty Liverpool. We have won 18 league Championships, far more than any rival. However for some reason we haven't won one for well over a decade. But that is going off-topic. Arsenal fans are really Arsenal fans but people do root for them when they are the main rival of Man Utd (like me for example).

Dell19

Usually the dominant teams rotate around. Like Man Utd have had an amazing 10 years which is still going and Liverpool had a similar run before. And in single game terms then anyone can beat anyone on their day, like Bolton winning against Man U and Everton winning against Arsenal.

Saruman
Feb 04, 2003, 11:38 AM
True what MrPresident said. But Liverpool isn't that dominant, United has 15 or 16 premiership wins and are a bigger candidate than Liverpool this year.
Thought I'm a United fan, My father is a Liverpool fan, and my grandfather an Arsenal fan ( how ironic  )

One of the things that probably has made United popular is players like Beckham (extremeley popular in Asia) and that it's the biggest club in the World (counted in fans). Most of the United fans are from around the world, especially here in Scandinavia. Much of my Generation is Utd fan over here (I'm 15 btw).

Quite funny, United and Yankees are one (in shares and stuff). owned by the same company or buisnessman I guess. Thought United aren't that dominant any more.

BTW, United has wone every Premiership since 91/92 except 94/95, 97/98 and 01/02.

Was Blackburn the team with Sutton and Shearer?? I'm able to kind of follow the game through cable every now and then. I get so confused between Premiership games, FA Cup games, and don't ask me how teams qualify for those international (UEFA or Champions Cups)??? (Same thing..or different??)

SAS.
I get so confused between Premiership games, FA Cup games, and don't ask me how teams qualify for those international (UEFA or Champions Cups
To qualify for Champions League you have to finish in the top three or four places in league or win the competition the previous year. To qualify for UEFA you have to finish between four and sixth (not really sure because it changes every year practically) or win either the FA or the League Cup or win the competition the previous year. Simple.
Much of my Generation is Utd fan over here
The Glory Hunters.

They aren't owned by the same company or businessman but do have a business deal, not sure what that entitles (I think they sell each other's stuff in the respective club shops).

The Intertoto cup has 3 winners who go into the UEFA cup.

the country that wins the fair play awards just gets one extra participant right?

Plus you can get into europe from being awarded the fair play award, well I think so anyway... I believe you are correct. I think it is the country that had the best disciplinary record in all of last season's European competitions gets a place in next season's UEFA cup.

Saruman
Feb 08, 2003, 04:20 AM
That's true (in CM atleast;))

As to CL, it depends on what league you play in, here in Norway, the winner gets a place in the CL Qualification. In England, 1st and 2nd goes directly into the cup, while 3rd and 4th have to qualify.

But It changes I Believe. (In England)

Dell19
Feb 08, 2003, 06:55 AM
UEFA decides the amount of places each country gets and then that country gets to decide how to allocate them although there are probably some limits, like the FA couldn't let conference winners get into europe (Unless they won the FA cup).

willemvanoranje
Feb 08, 2003, 10:26 AM
