What is the deal with fighter planes? I understand the range restrictions and the basing as well as the intent of the intercept and the air sweep missions, but what is the deal with fighters not having an airstrike capability? Or did I miss something? When I upgraded the fighter to a jet, it seemed to me that an extra mission icon was added for air strike. I am hoping I just missed the strike icon, because there have been lots of air strikes carried out by fighter planes and fighter plane variants--does the date December 7, 1941 ring a bell?
Anyway, the other thing I noticed was that I seemed to be able to rebase anywhere in the world--way beyond the movement restriction or even twice the movement. The rebasing seemed to work exactly the way it used to in IV. I rebased a newly built bomber to the other side of the world the turn it was complete and was able to start using it the next turn. I started out being careful to rebase the fighter to cities within 8, but then I did not have one so I tried going longer and it went--no problem.
