The Petronas Towers are no where near as tall as the Sears Tower, its rather absurd how big they made them.

IIRC carbon is not a limiting factor for algae in fresh water so runoff won't lead to eutrophication.

Probably just that the process of turning biomass into charcoal puts some pollutants into the air. It's believed that native Amazonians made the land in the Amazon basin fertile by mixing charcoal in with it. Jungle lands are not normally very fertile.
