I know from experience that these kinds of questions are asked all the time, however, I din't find any sticky newbie thread in this forum area.

So here it is:

How do you make a graphic mod what the game looks like.

i.e. if I want to use warpstorm graphics how do I see those ingame instead of the regular old civ3 graphics?

You should replace the files in the civ 3 directory in the arts/terrain folder. Always make a backup tho of the previous contents of the folder somewhere else. Or you will end up doing what i did and accidentaly deleted the exisitng files d'oh. I think the new ones are great so i dont need to reinstall the game, but just be careful!

If you own PtW, there´s also a way without replacing Civ3´s original gfx:

- Create a subfolder under Civ3/Civ3PTW/Scenario, lets say "MyMod". In this subfolder, the files must be organized in the same way than Civ3 does, eg. when you want to have new terrain gfx, create (under "MyMod") the path Art/Terrain, and move all terrain gfx under "Terrain"

- then start the editor, create a mod, but make sure the points "Custom Player Data", "Custom Map", and "Custom Rules" in the "Scenario" menu remain NOT selected

- choose "Scenario Properties" (from the Scenario menu).

- a window will appear, here you can add a path under "Scenario Search Folders". Type in the name of your previously created subfolder (would be "MyMod" in our example), save the mod under Civ3/Civ3PTW/Scenario - start playing. Choose "Load Scenario" in Civ, and select your modfile.

It may sound a bit difficult, but it isn´t that complicated ;) I think it is much easier then swapping files around
