here is the deal folks,

I was in the middle of a game of Shogun Total war, and bam. My monitor goes black, and it makes the noise it makes when it degausses. THe computer isn't frozen everything is still working other than the monitor. I turn the computer off and i hear a ticking comming from my monitor. When i turn off the powerbar, the ticking slowly stops. It gets slower and slower untill it stops. When my computer is on, the monitors power light flickers at the same speed as the ticking. I checked the cords, they're all connected. So do you guys know what happened? Did the tube blow, is the power supply gone?

The monitor was about 2 years old. 2 - 2.5 years old.

Thanks for any help

Edit: I was looking lower, and it i noticed someone asking a question about which is going first, their vid card, or their monitor. When a video card goes does it how does it die. I've never had a monitor or video card break on me.

It's the monitor, the tube is gone. Mine did this about two months ago, went and got a new monitor, works fine now.

It might be worth checking to see if it hs blown a fuse - many will have some sort of fuse in them that might blow first.

Unlikely, but its free to check anyway...

Connect a different monitor to the same computer, just to confirm your old monitor's dead.

If you have a monitor now..why don't ou just plug it into the good computer :mischief:

Try whacking the monitor as well.
