Igor

Hey I'd be interested if that's possible. I noticed that this was like a month ago so I wonder if this SG is still on. Egyptians're fine with me

Harleqin
Jan 28, 2003, 01:39 PM
Egypt, huh? I like Egypt. I normally play on monarch, but I'll go in to add a little SG experience if you want it. I have running atm and played in three about a year ago before circumstances forced me off the board.

Babbler

Harleqin

How many turns for each? Any special rules? It's customary to play with no automation of worker.

Darkness
Jan 29, 2003, 05:58 AM
If this is without PTW, then count me in
(Since I don't have PTW)

What settings?

Egypts is good.
Why is the random seed of?
How many opponents and who?

Babbler
Jan 29, 2003, 05:58 PM
Okay random seed on is okay by me. Better perhaps as no one can cheat.

These Settings are what I play mostly, but if anyone disagrees, it can be changed.

World Setting

World Size:Large
Barbarian activty:Roming
Land Setup:70% Contentent

Game Setings (Note:From What is a Succession Game? Sticky)
----------------------

Okay with everybody?

Harleqin
Jan 29, 2003, 10:33 PM
I can live with those choices :)

Darkness
Jan 30, 2003, 04:19 AM
Suggestion:
first player: 20 turns
second : 15
after that : each player 10 turns

This is the format used in most SG's, 'cause then it doesn't take such a long time (in game years) until you're up again. Imagine skipping 80 turns. That would mean that civman gets to play until 3000 BC and then gets to play again around 1 AD, he'll be missing a whole stretch of the game... I think it would be more fun to play shorter stretches, so everyone can see the game unfold...

But that's just me....
I can live with 20 turns each also...

Harleqin
Jan 30, 2003, 10:03 AM
20 turns is a lot in the modern age. I think 10-20 turns (letting each player decide) will work out best. Well, let's get this baby started.

The mighty warrior Harleqin takes the throne in 2310 BC and takes a look at the realm. In the far south he sees a green border, but no contact has been made. This must be the Greeks. There is plenty of land available for settlements. He tells the scientists to hurry up their research and 2 turns are shawed off the ETA for warrior code. He decides to change Thebes to a settler instead of a spearmen, but alters nothing else.

2270 BC (1): Exploration continues and a hut is discovered.

2230 BC (2): The hut is popped and Barbarians emerge. Thebes builds settler and starts another.

2190 BC (3): Settler starts going south to secure the dyes. We need more settlers. Tons of them and workers. Temple rushed in River City.

2150 BC (4): I notice Thebes has no granary. This me be fixed. Granary started. We learn Warrior Code and I start on Iron Working.

2110 BC (5): A quiet year for the Warlord.

2070 BC (6): Barbarian camp raided. We make contact with Greece. They know the Alphabet, but want two techs in exchange. Sorry Alex, no deal.

2030 BC (7): We pop a hut and learn about the Wheel. Good :)

1990 BC (8): Quiet again.

1950 BC (9): We move into position to settle in the south.

1910 BC (10): Elephantine founded. It will take control of the dyes upon expansion and also secure our backlands.

Do NOT change the granary in Thebes. Once built it will mass-produce settlers.

I noticed that the limit in the "post reply" link is 102kb. What do I do when it gets over that amount? Do I use the link all the way at the bottom? Could someone be so nice to give me instructions on how do to all that.
Thanks in advance. I guess it's better that I ask now

After the mighty warrior Harleqin, the shrewd planner Darkness becomes the leader of mighty Egypt.....

Inherited turn: Changed production in Memphis from temple to granary. Iron working in five. Nothing special to report.

1870 BC (1): Some warrior movement, spotted barbarian in the north

1830 BC (2): Ditto, killed barbarian in the north:)

1790 BC (3): Another barbarian in the north, tactical retreat. Some movement. Adjusted lux slider to 20 to prevent riots in Heliopolis the next turn. Adjusted tax slider. Iron working still in 2 turns…

1750 BC (4): Spotted goody hut NE of Heliopolis. Again some movement. Set tax slider to make some money. Iron working in one turn.

1725 NC (5): Discovered Iron Working! Switched to Polytheism. Adjusted sliders: Lux at 20 Science at 80. Poly in 23 turns. Now if we can manage to make contact with some other civs, Polytheism makes great trade bait cause other civs tend to go for the Writing part of the tech tree and research Polytheism later. We can get a lot of stuff for this one tech. Some movement, nothing spectacular.

Intraturn: Barbarian attack, he dies on our elite warrior:)

1700 BC (6): Popped goody hut NE of Heliopolis. We got Alphabet!:D

1675 BC (7): Thebes builds Granary. Set to settler. Killed another barbarian in the north:)

1650 BC (8): An entertainer made in Heliopolis to prevent riots the next turn. Some movement….

1625 BC (9): Movement again. Spotted red border up North (Romans?)

1600 BC (10): Heliopolis builds settler, another settler started. Some movement again. Settler moves E/SE towards the Greek border…

Overal: 2 new techs and a settler, spotted another civ. We’re four techs ahead of the Greeks and have 170+ gold in our treasury. Polytheism in 14 turns…

I recommend to finish our granary’s and start sprouting settlers like hell. Meeting the red civ and try to market polytheism as soon as we get it…. We can grab a lot of land!!
:goodjob:

So Civman36, you're up next...

And then the dynasty died with the two co-kings (brothers) kill each other:crazyeye:

1350BC (1) Well right at the start Heroes Home gets ransacked by barbarians (30 gold looted) -couldn't do anything about it

1325BC (2) Riverside builds settlers, start spearman, workers start irrigation at heliopolis, road thebes - heliopolis continued,

1300BC (3) polytheism discovered, start writing

1275BC (4) spearman produced in elephantine, started another, a friendly sumarian tribe has given us a map of their region, continue exploration around romamd and greek civilization

1250BC (5) settler produced in memphis, start another, heros home produced a warrior, start worker, alexandria produced one as well, start temple,

1225BC (6) Pi-Ramesses is built, start spearman

1200BC (7) Heliopolis has built a settler, start temple

1175BC (8) Thebes buildss temple, starts The Pyramids, Giza built, start spearman, Barbarians near Heroes Home

1150BC (9) palace expanded, one barbarian killed at heroes home

1125BC (10) riverside builds a spearman, starts the oracle, worker built in heroes home, start spearman, warrior movement

I didn't know what else to build in those bigger cities, Thebes and Riverside so I started some wonders. I doubt that we are gonna get to finish any of them anyways. We can always change it to something else though.

Chief Harleqin the Peaceful takes the throne in late 1125 BC. He notes with pleasure that we are a very advanced nation compared to the Greeks and Romans and that we have plenty of room for expansion. Most orders look good, but Hero’s home is switched to a settler and Riverside city from the Oracle to a worker. We need workers and at 100 turns it is not good enough to build it. It would be a waste of time and shields.

Turn 1 (1100 BC): Elephantine builds spearman and starts a worker. NO MORE UNITS FROM CITIES WITHOUT BARRACKS!!! We need more cities still. A worker is ordered up to improve the land. Science slider adjusted to maximise efficiency. Why is Alexandria and Pi-Ramesses so close? There is heavy overlap and several tiles are wasted. I will have to make the best of the settler in the area to avoid more problems for ourselves.

Turn 2 (1075 BC): We learn writing and start on literacy. I build embassies. Athens is working on the Pyramids and Rome on a settler. Neither city have any improvements. I swap tiles giving Thebes control of the cattle.

Turn 3 (1050 BC): Temple whipped at Heliopolis. I want to start a barracks, get veteran troops and more workers. Byblos and El-Amarna are founded.

Turn 4 (1025 BC): Riverside builds a worker and starts on a settler. Heliopolis builds its temple and starts on a worker. Why, oh, why is the cattle at Alexandria mined, but not roaded? It doesn’t make any sense.

Turn 5 (1000 BC): Memphis builds a settler and starts a barracks. It is local enough to reach most of our lands and I want it to build veteran spearmen. Elephantine builds worker and also starts a barracks. Alexandria completes temple and starts a settler. The Greeks and Romans still have no knowledge of each other.

Turn 6 (1075 BC): Nice and quiet.

Turn 7 (1050 BC): I bust a barbarian camp promoting the warrior to regular.

Turn 8 (1025 BC): Another camp busted.

Turn 9 (1000 BC): Nice and quiet.

Turn 10 (975 BC): Worker built at Heliopolis. Settler started. Rome starts the Pyramids. Hieraconpolis is founded. There is some overlap, but it couldn’t be helped or tiles would be wasted. It is on river though which should help it grow once we clear the jungle. Remember that a worker pair will clear jungle in six turns as we are industrious.

NOTES: The settler from Hero’s Home should go north and the one from Riverside should go west. We need a city to secure the gems. Only build military in cities with barracks from now on unless it is absolutely necessary!

And after the retirement of the great leader Harleqin, the second reign of Darkness commences,

Inherited turn: Nothing

850 BC (1): Hero’s home builds settler, starts another. Pi-Ramesses builds spearman, starts settler. We got a new luxury: incense connected! Some movement…

825 BC (2): We discover Literature and start Monarchy (23 turns). This is a better form of government with better production rushing methods and the Egyptians are religious, so 1 turn anarchy. Movement….

800 BC (3): Movement…

775 BC (4): Barbarian horseman NE Hero’s Home kills our regular warrior. Movement…

750 BC (5): Riverside city builds settler, starts spearman. Spearman/settler combo move towards floodplain NW of riverside city. Abydos founded straight N of Thebes to include gems in our territory. Abydos starts production of spearman. Movement…

730 BC (6): Movement…

710 BC (7) Alexandria builds settler and starts another one. Settler moves to the region close to Greek border to block Greek expansion (on Go command, I will place a warrior on the city spot I chose (W of Elephantine), feel free to change it). Movement…

690 BC (8): Memphis build barracks, starts horseman to begin creation of a veteran army which will serve us well until the middle of the industrial age as horseman can upgrade to cavalry. Movement…

670 BC (9): Giza builds spearman, starts settler. Asyut founded on floodplain (good site for Wonder production later on (colossus, lighthouse, magellan’s), starts temple. Movement….

650 BC (10): Diplomacy:
-trade with romans. Gave him contact with the greeks for contact with the chinese and 8 gold.
-trade with Chinese: sold him contact with the greeks for 76 gold (greeks only had 10 gold to offer for contact with chinaso I sold to the Chinese)
Movement…

Thus ends the second reign of Darkness. Monarchy comes in 13 turns, so we can go to a more efficient way of government…
