You realize of course that you just helped someone who obviously doesn't have a legitimate copy of the game. If they did, why didn't they just reinstall it?

Would'nt reinstalling replace everything else thats been modified? Like the units32 and terain? any thing that was added would be retained but any modifications would be lost. maybe he doesn't have enough space to back it all up? and even if he did.......yikes what a chore:(

One thing i recently did was to accidentaly replace all my terrain files with some new ones without making a back-up. Because i was happy with the new terrain i am not bothing to get the original back, but if i need to i would be really annoyed having to re-install so i woud probably ask for the files i was missing. (I do have a copy of the game...honest!)

I have the origanal m8......but I changed a lot of things in my game and this was the fastest way to get it back.

Thanks zulu9812 for your help!

What I did was, after installing civ3, PTW, and all the patches, I copied my whole Civ3 folder to some other place, and write-protected all the files. Now if I mess up, instead of reinstalling for 2.5 hours, I simply get the file from the other folder.

If you alter alot of files, then this is a good idea (provided you have the HD space)

if you have a CD-R, you could back it all up onto one

I make all my changes in the scenario folder. That way, I don't have to waste disk space on a full back-up, and my originals are not only still there, they are still usable, if I have a scenario that calls for them.
