View Full Version : DVD-Rom Drive Problem!! Safedisk?

I have just installed Age Of Mythology via my DVD-Rom drive. It installed with no problems at all.

At the end of the install, it said to reboot, which I did. I then double-clicked the icon, and it told me to put AOM Disk 1 in the drive. I did this, and tried to restart the game. I got the same please insert the disk message.

The thing that reall pi$$e$ me off is that the DVD drive will now not run any disk in the drive, or even recognise that a disk has been put in the drive. I can't search the disk or anything.

I am running Win XP. I have a Samsung SD-612S DVD Rom drive, with the latest drivers. I have tried uninstalling AOM, and even uninstalling and reinstalling the DVD drive. No success.

I understand that AOM uses safedisk V2. Any chance that this is what is stuffing up the drive? If so, how can I remove that?

BTW - the game is legit.

It might be that this problem has nothing to do with AoM that it appeared right now merely by coincidence.

I have the same symtons on my dvd-drive (only that it sometimes if I'm lucky actually reads a disk but with terrible low speed). I'm getting a new one soon...

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not sure what happened, but its working again now.... :hmm: The PC was turned off for an hour or so, then my GF was on it and suddenly it worked.

Trying a reinstall of AOM now, so we'll see what happens.... :)

I use a DVD-ROM/CD-RW Combo drive and haven't had any problems.....maybe it is brand specific. Try checking the AoM website if you still have problems and also check the Samsung website for Firmware updates which are different than driver updates. Good luck!

:D A bit far for him to come me thinks.....

Munzy - I did get the latest firmware update, and it didn't help.... :(

In the end, I went and got me a CD RW-er. Looking at buying a digital camera in the New Year, so probably will need to be able to burn CDs in the near future. And now it all works fine :)
