Here's Rome in the Modern World II (YES TWO!)

There's a total of 28 nations! The game is set up for you to plas as Rome, to change that go into the scenario editor and de-select Player 1 (Rome) as the human player and select the nation you wish to play.

Updates Galore!
South America isn't just Brazil now!
Africa is more then Rome in the North, and South Africa in the... well South. England, still a shadow of it's former self, has a few outposts outside the U.K.
South East Asia, and East Asia have a few more nations.
Mongolia (in it's real life form) Is now represented!
Scandinavia (No, I didn't seperate the three nations) is added!
Greenland is occupied!
The Panama Canal exists!
NAMED ships (all of them) for Rome, England, and America!
UUs for various nations: T-90 for Russia, English Infantry for (well, England), The Anzac for Australia, and one or two more! (Plus the original UUs).
Australia and Japan have more influence!
Better names for Russian, and Canadian cities!
Almost all (if not all) cities that could be converted from Spanish, French, or Portugease to Latin have been so converted!
A Detailed civilopedia (with working icons for the new units, and civs!)
Detailed history laid out in the Civilopedia.
I'm probably forgetting quite a bit!

I HIGHLY recommend you use Snoopy's graphics mod... they just look great in this scenario1 (Also Lush Cities (or Snoopy's if he modded them) ) are also recommended.

PLEASE, respond to the poll if you downloaded. I'd like to see how many people downloaded the scenario!

Thanks again! Please post comments/Contrutive Criticism here.

Depending on the feedback I just may work on version III, but I don't see where else I could go with this.

More Alternate History scenarios to come!

You have to Dezip them as well... each level down... I had to do that to maintain organization as Winzip is annoying! ;-)

Bloody fantastic work. I'm can't wait to play it. Btw, maybe you should shoot a few screenies for the people new to the scenario? Anyway, you put a lot of effort into this. Great job. :goodjob:

Thanks, we're taking my sister to the airport. When we get back I'll take some screenshots. I'll probably take one or two of Europe, another one or two of South America, and probably one of the buildup around Saudi Arabia! :)

I presume you downloaded it? If so, could you answer the survey so I can keep track of the number of downloads? Thanks! :)

Note:All of Roman Africa is not Perfect cities.... in fact, much of it is developing as they were former German colonies acquired in WWII. So Rome's power comes from Europe, Northern Africa, and two cities in the south west of the bulge.

German colonies?

Germany never had colonies in north africa, the reason they were there in WW2 was because Mussolini wanted an empire in north africa so he sent his army there. Hitler sent rommel because mussolini's army was losing badly and he wished to save his ally from humiliation.

by the Way, i just cant get this to work, but im going to keep trying, It might be my computer. even with 135 GB's and 256 RAM, i still have problems on it. and even though this is a bit off-topic but is there a way to speed up the loading for civ3? since it has no activity (none of that humming noise that computers make when its loading something) and i have waited for an hour just to wait for a scenario to load many times and it acts as if it froze.

It takes longer then an hour to load... as I said above, eat dinner or see a movie... ;-)

The other explanation I was thinking of was that Germany acquired Roman territory in Africa after the Roman-Prussian war (in which Prussia (as in the Franco-Prussian war) won). They probaably then renamed the cities. However, IIRC I used the above explanation in the Civilopedia...

sela1s1son

So, how are people finding the scenario???

Sarevok
Dec 29, 2002, 06:47 PM
indeed hellfish, the germans got beat up really bad in north arfica. Hitler wasnt exactly the best leader though...

sela1s1son
Dec 29, 2002, 07:19 PM
As I said earlier, this is alternate history... the explanation I believe I used in the scenario (again, IIRC) was that the Germans actually did (more) Imperialism... although I had been thinking of having them acquire it from the Romans after the Roman-German war of 1870-71 (This world's version of the real world's Franco-Prussian War... but with the difference I've mentioned.)

Sarevok

that sounds better, But i still cant get this to work at all... :(

Make you unzip all the files... I kept Zipping them until I got to the final folder or file...

sela1s1son
Dec 31, 2002, 01:46 AM
Note: Rules should be change....
sometimes when I add a civ or something, it clears the scenario folder and other details... I changed them all to the proper date, folder etc... however the turn progress rate should be changed so they all advance by 1 units (for a total of 1,000 turns)... so each turn will be a month... sorry guys, I missed that.

Is it possible for you to post a .bic file for those of us who don't yet have PTW. By the way the screenshots look great

sela1s1son
Dec 31, 2002, 11:19 PM
I'm using several PTW features such as airfields, and a few outposts IIRC, as welll as a few structures... and all the bics, etc would have to be for units, leaderheads, pediaicons.txt's images... civilopedia images... so I'm afraid you would have to get PTW... unless one *can* play PTW scenarios if they provided all the bics, but I don't think you can as it doesn't have the rules built in to it's program for some of the structures (as in to give ability X to Y).

I'll probably continue tweaking the scenario... I'm never satisfied, and I'm also trying to get the best possible scenario I can. Don't expect to see Rome in the Modern World III for quite some time though... no earlier then summer, or maybe no earlier then fall. However, due to the dramatic changes from I to II, I'd like input on the scenario. So *please* post comments, and constructive criticism...

It looks good as it has improved hugely as it was laughably easy to gainhuge amounts of land in africa very quickly.

I've installed exactly as instructed but when the loading gets to a certain point* it always locks up. How can I fix this?

The Germans did have colonies in Africa from 1885 to 1918, Cameroons, Tanzania, and Namibia (those are the modern day names).

I don't know the exact specs but very good. i doubt it's that though, TETurkahn's mod is much bigger than yours and loads fairly quickly.

I don't know abou that... Each city (and the planet is covered with them) has lot's of buildings... there's a lot of units (ALL ships of the Romans, Americans, and Brits are named) as ell as other details are (IE:Terrain improvement) are in there... I've played TETukahn's scenrios (a fun ones btw!) and it doesn't seem to have the number of things in it...

IT takes my P4 computer hours to load... I'm thinking of just making saved games available for download... the problem is... with 28 or so nations... that'll take a while to do...

So what nations would people like available for download as a saved game?

I'll try loading it before I go to school and playing when home BUT - before the point where it locks up (Between the o and the first . on Configureing Scenario ...), it is fast, only takes two or three mins to get there.

I just downloaded it, haven't played it yet- the loading time has me a little scared (I only have a P3 866 with 256 MB RAM)!! But the screenshot you posted makes this scenario more than worth the time- I'll definetly give some feedback as soon as I get it started.

Jun 09, 2003, 12:25 AM
ARRRRGGGHHHH It takes sooo long to start!!! I can't even wait this long, I'd have to leave it over night and frankly I want to play it now!!! Sorry, the stories will have to wait until I can actually devote enough time to it. How big is it if it takes this long to load up?? Have you thought of putting up a saved game instead?

sela1s1son
Jun 09, 2003, 09:12 PM
I know, I know. It DOES take LONG. However, I'm debating if I should wait until after Conquests to release Rome in the Modern World III or to do it before... of course... I could always do a Conquests version next year.

Whichever course I choose... saved games WILL be available for download. Saved Games will be available for the following civilizations:
Rome
America
Russia
China

Also will probably include ones for the following civs... but the above four are the priority:
Australia
Japan
England
Brazil

Plus a few other civs if enough requests come in.
