Just wondering if anyone would like to play the Struggle for Europe? Looks like we're starting in May 1940, with German panzers pouring through the Ardennes. Academia, you can have Germany just like you wanted. Anyone who wants, please join in!

Axis - academia
Turkey - Darius
Minor Nations (Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland and Portugal) - AI
Spain - EmuGod
Allies - pap1723
Soviet Union - Eivind IV
France - Choke

In that case, we'll have to start in June 1941, because Turkey does not appear until then. You can download this scenari oo nthe second page of the Civfanatics Civ2 Modern Scenarios page.

Darius

June 1941??? Are you sure? If that's the case then I'll have to take France.

EmuGod
Dec 29, 2002, 08:51 PM
If everybody doesnt mind, I dont think it would be a problem if we start in June 1941 with Operation Barbarossa. If you want Turkey, then I dont think it should be a problem, I mean, it's not like France or the Low Countries are going to last against the German blitzkrieg. I'm sure academia would be ruthless. With that said, I think we should start in June 1941, it wold give us a chance to really change the course of the war. Also, what difficulty should we play? Easy, medium or hard?

Darius
Dec 29, 2002, 09:24 PM
'Prince' difficulty is the only one to play at in a PBEM.

EmuGod
Dec 29, 2002, 09:27 PM
What I mean is that the scenario itself has special rules and events for three different settings, easy, medium or hard. These will change the game slightly depending on which one we pick to load the scenario with.

academia
Dec 29, 2002, 09:29 PM
Everybody!!!
I played this scenario in MGE before, and i remember that we had to download new files.
I think they were different from the original ones that come with the singleplayer game. ok?

Another topic:
Personally, iīd like to begin the scenario in May 1940

EmuGod

Well, I don't mind either way so I guess it's your call, Darius.

Darius

I don't know, I never even played it in SP until the last few days. It's been fun in the other PBEM's of it.

Cause I know there was a version being tested for PBEM and it was a second version...but I don't know if it was ever released...

You can get the latest version of the scenario from this page:

TSFE2 Homepage (http://www.hot.ee/markourm2/)

Download General zip, Multiplayer scenario zip and Sounds.

The scenario is not yet finished but should be already balanced and playable. I don't want to openly release it in Scenario Creation forum before all playtesting is completed.

This version starts in April 1940 and playable nations in moving order are:

Axis
Turkey
Minor Nations (Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland and Portugal)
Spain
Allies
Soviet Union
France

Yugoslavia is owned by barbarians in this version.

Good luck with the game!

In the original version, from what I read in the readme and from what I played, Turkey was only in the game starting in June 1940. I guess Marko changed it in this new version. I guess academia can start now.

academia
Jan 03, 2003, 10:48 PM
I guess academia can start now.
Well, i noticed some problems with this version of the scenario...
Specifically, two big problems:

1) Despite the fact that i actuallly have battleships and fallschirmjagers, I CANīT PRODUCE THEM.
2) Iīm not allowed to move like 80% of my troops. It seems that they were already moved  (well, maybe Marko pressed the "space" button, so the turn to move the units passed)

Seriously, iīm not planning to play my turn with the current conditions. Come on! i have practically 150 units ready to invade france, but i canīt even move one of them

Darius
Jan 03, 2003, 11:33 PM
I'm pretty sure both of those conditions were intended.

Choke
Jan 04, 2003, 02:28 AM
Yes Academia, it's supposed to be that way, Germany couldn't produce battleships or unlimited paratroopers and I don't think you're supposed to be allowed to kill me in one turn ;).

They're tryingto be historical Academia. you start off only fighting the wars in Norway and Denmark and after that n May 1940 you get to pound France and the Low Countries.

Yes, that is intended. In April 1940 Axis and Allies can move their units only in Denmark and Norway. From May 1940 all units are free. This is just for historical accuracy.

Axis will get their battleships (Bismarck, Tirpitz and some Italian ones) in historical dates from events. Of course you can research the technology and build them yourself too. Same about the Fallschirmjägers.

When you say "Allies" are you talking about about France, UK and the USSR?
CAN THEY ATTACK ME IN MAY 1940?
I hope they have the "same problems"... if you are really interested in historical accuracy, then these countries SHOULD NOT HAVE THE CHANCE TO ATTACK ME

The Premier would like it known that France has sued for peace but the unreasonable Germans have refused even unconditional surrender. France therefore calls for Russia to come to our aid before Germany turns it's might east. France also would like Turkey to break off it's alliance with the Axis, the secret alliance which it hopes will bring it Russian and British territory. Finally France is glad the Spain is remaining neutral in the current conflict, the pressures Germany is putting on the Spanish are both immoral and disgusting as the Axis wishes to use Spain as a stepping stone to Gibraltar.

These forces can only be heading in order to invade Spanish Morroco (Tangier). spain will not tolerate such a moveo n behalf of the French and htat is why the harbor at algiers hasbeen blockaded. the ships will have to land further in Tunisia or Algeria in order to assure us that it is not a threat. Field Marshall Petain has conceded that the mainland is lost. Troops in southern France have surrendered to Spanish soldiers who launched a surprise offensive forming a pincer attack with their German allies. Spain will rue the day it took up arms against the French Empire.

Turkish troops were discovered massing on the border with Syria and France has decided to strike pre-emptively to lessen the blow to French colonies. Our Soviet friends are welcome to enter the war against Turkey to end this threat to peace in the world. Furthermore it became obvious Germany and Turkey have formed an Axis of Evil when GERMAN tanks with Turkish troops in them were found on the battlefield. Turkey asks for an international condemnation of France's unprovoked attack on our border troops. We had no intention to attack anybody, but after this unjustified first strike, the remainder of our army has had no choice but to march on. Beirut now flies the Crescent, and Damascus is completely empty of enemy forces. The Somua division that spearheaded their attack has also been destroyed.

Nothing new in Spain, but the blockade of Algiers has been lifted. Spain recognizes Turkey's right to defend its sovereignty against invasion rom a foreign power (France) but also recognizes France's desire for safety and security. WE hope peace will soon return to the Middle East.

Choke, dont forget that Darius was filling in for academia as Germany at one point. He may have talked to you as Germany and you may be confused as to what he said.

Just so you guys know, I got nailed by the military  That means I will probably have to quit all my games in order to serve my country. I'm not sure, but it might be that they have internet and PC's we soldiers can borrow in our spare time. In that case, I won't have to quit them all.

I am not going yet though. It's not until the 29th of July but I want to let you know it now already. I will then be away for a year. :sniper:

I am most likely going to Kosovo (NATO), Afghanistan (NATO) or Iraq (Under British command) to serve as a peace keeping soldier. :tank:

I did not want this to happen. Damn Norwegian conscription! :aargh:

No, Choke said he doesn't want to play anymore and the last save was Soviet. France plays after the USSR, after which the turn orders starts over and it is Germany's turn.

Hi all!

In order to continue with this game, I've jumped into France. I hope nobody will have a problem, becuase France is a very, very minor civ. Should be interesting to see whether I can do a single conquest ;)

P&P

Ok, as France I've conquered the city of Beirut and destroyed a Turkish plane. The city of Beirut is empty (I've conquered it in order to sold an improvement). I offer a peace teatry to Turkey, but I'm pretty sure it will be not accepted...

Be aware Germany! I'll hurt you, and hurt you bad :p

For the last time, FRANCE WAS NOT THE PROBLEM. WE WERE WAITING FOR PAP.

I'd suggest France being handed over to the Allies, and Javier taking the Allies. Or at the very least, if you really have a problem with handing over French cities, then he could just play both civs.

Then run Multi.bat and select Summer 1940.

It simply totally shuts down the program as in a hard error... none of the other scenario do this...

Marko
Sep 04, 2003, 06:29 AM
After you have selected Summer 1940, the bat program should do following:

copy sterrain1.bmp terrain1.bmp
copy sterrain2.bmp terrain2.bmp
copy units1.bmp units.bmp
copy Sound\Swordfgt.wav Sound\Medgun.wav
copy Sound\Swordfgt.wav Sound\Catapult.wav
copy Sound\swrdhors.wav Sound\Custom2.wav
copy Sound\Infantry.wav Sound\Extra3.wav
copy Sound\Jetbomb.wav Sound\Extra6.wav
copy Sound\Swordfgt.wav Sound\Extra5.wav
copy Sound\Sound2.wav Sound\Extra1.wav
copy Events2.txt events.txt
copy rules1.txt rules.txt

and then exit.

In some reason it don't work in your system

Have you created the Sound subfolder under the scenario?

Lonello

It seems that multi-part scenarios aren't very good for multiplayer game: the batch program doesn't work with every system and scare off people.

If I'll find time I try to make an one-part version of TSFE, though it means a huge downgrading.

BTW, I should get a cable-connection after few days. So, if you are still interested to go on, I can join with the game.
