German-American Wars
This is my first attempt at writing about a civ experience, sorry if it is too long compared to stuff that normally gets posted around here, I have yet to read anyone else's threads to see what is normally done. The map below is to give some sort of reference to the world this takes place in. It is just a small crop of the world focusing on the places that are referenced in this story.

For the entire history of the world Germany had been the evil empire, with the seven other world leaders either ignoring the country or fighting to keep the Germans out of their country. Germany was a nation trying to spread on a continent that was already spoken for in most places, with the Americans to the East, England to the Northeast, Rome across the gulf southeast, and Persia to the West.
This story though is not about the Germans history of war, but about the Americans who were the first to cripple the evil empire. England and Persia had both tried many times but could never advance much, and border cities were swapped back and forth over the years. The Roman Empire was also fending off the Germans as they crossed through the Gulf trying to capture more land. This was all a failure for Germany though, as the coastal attacks were easy for the Romans to fend off. The Americans played a major role in this war with the Romans, not a fighting member, but denying open travel through their lands to Germany, forcing them through the ocean.
This is were the German-American War begins, the right of passage denied for the entire history of Germany. This strategic move by the Americans was mainly to keep the Germans from spreading across the continent more than they already had. This caused major tension between the two empires, and grew with every deal struck up with Germany's enemies. Anyone who was fighting the Germans was instantly given the right of passage through the American land, for England and Rome this made the movement of troops into German territory much easier and faster through the roadways built.
Germany had one advantage through it all though, the lower German Territory built across a sea from their capital was surrounded by mountains and created very few inlets for troops to go in or out. This helped them easily fend off enemy troops through the years, as ground attacks were stopped before they even had a chance to strike a city. As technology advanced the Germans started to lose their advantage from the mountains and seas, but it was not until 1920 when the first German-American war started.
The Americans had a somewhat peaceful history, and were a tiny nation with only 3 production cities, their first major war came when Siam and Rome asked for Americans to join in the fight to clear out the Iroquois. This was a swift war with 3 fronts that dismantled the Iroquois and started the growth of the American forces, with very few casualties from the war, the Americans grew to 4 cities, and had an experienced army ready to fight when needed. America also gained more cotton fields, which made them the number one cotton producer in the world, this helped the Americans gain money and strike up deals to gain technology, and keep their military up to date with the latest weapons. This was the first and only war leading up to the first German-American War.
The 1st German-American War
With other nations expanding their borders to other continent and islands across the world America was falling behind in production and technology, the Germans were the only nation around the same size, and became a target for the Americans. In the arms race the Germans had a slight advantage over the Americans. With their sights set on taking the nearest German territory America started to build its forces on the Western border, with infantry. The American navy was one destroyer sitting within the gulf. As troops built up on the narrow land border Germany started to get wary and took the first strike. War began as German artillery fired on the front lines.
With the layout of the land, their was only a single entry point on land for the Americans, and another south which could only be accessed by crossing the gulf. Each point was a narrow valley causing a single file attack into German territory. The Germans had each point well defended, and stopped the Americans easily at the start of the war.
The North Valley Front
This was the Americans primary target, although the plan looked good on paper they soon found out why all the other nations before them had failed. Upon entry into the German land two cities were in range of the front, each city contained artillery and also had their own defenses, troops entering at that point were pounded from four different units and by the time they moved any further into Germany ground troops would sweep in to finish them off. Each attempt to get more than one American unit onto German land failed in the same result forcing America to look towards the South Valley as a secondary entry point to attack.
The South Valley Front
After crossing the gulf American troops were faced with the same terrain, a narrow valley, but only one city within range upon hitting the beach. Troops were able to get next to the middle of the three German cities along the eastern border of Germany, but by the time they got into an attacking position the southern city was able to target in on the troops. Even with attempts at both the North and South Valley Fronts, the Americans were held off causing very little damage to the German city.
As the war went on America looked for new ways to attack, the first American bomber proved to be a huge help, but with little ground support for the Americans German artillery and cities still prevailed. The bomber was not able to do enough damage for the small amount of ground troops to gain any advantage. A 2nd bomber was then deployed but nothing was gained from this.
Stealth bombers were an option, but America lacked aluminum to produce them, and the war was stuck at a stale mate. It was clear to the Americans that the war plan had failed and a deal was reached with Germany to end the war.
Friendly Casualties
After an embarrassing defeat in the attempt to overrun the Germans, America looked for a new plan. They were not done with the Germans, but before they could go back to war the military would have to be upgraded to fight from the air. Stealth technology was on the Americans minds, but without the proper resources they would not be able to create the air force they needed. Upon further research by the American Empire there were two options. One, go to a tiny island out in the ocean miles away and take an aluminum source which only provided three units, or Two, make a deal with the Romans who had ten units. The American Empire decided to go with the second option and talks were started with the Romans. The main concern for America with a trade deal was that it was a limited time, and if another deal could not be reached after this first one was done their air force would be worthless and the time and money spent would all be a waste. As talks began the Romans clearly were trying to take advantage of the situation and priced the deal very high, beyond what the Americans were willing to pay.
After decades upon decades of friendship and trade the Americans were forced to attack the Romans in order to stay a world power. Other nations were growing too fast and expanding across the globe too quickly for the Americans to just stand by. It was clear that an attack on the Romans was the only way to go. Troops were ready and in position and quickly the war began. The Americans were smaller in size but had a technological advantage over the Romans. Bombers swept over the country clearing the way for the new Mechanized Infantry to sweep in. One after one Roman cities were captured or burned to the ground. The Americans knowing that this war would damage their relationship forever wiped out all but one Roman city, rendering the Empire to the status of a city state. The Romans were left with no resources and the entire army was destroyed. America then offered peace, but at a very heavy price to further take advantage of their one time friend. The Romans had to give their entire yearly surplus, along with all funds they had left. The Americans were not trying to bleed the Romans dry, but were looking forward to the 2nd German-American War.
The 2nd German-American War
After pillaging the Roman Empire for resources needed to defeat the Germans, America was starting to look like a powerful force. Now up to seven cities, more cotton, and a natural wonder the Americans looked to expand West, and erase the embarrassment of the First German-American War. All ground units were upgraded to Mechanized Infantry, Rocket Artillery brigades were formed, two new stealth bombers joined the two B-17s from the first war.
After the Roman thrashing, the Americans looked to take their bombers and do the same to Germany, clearing the way for the ground troops. The troops were staged within the gulf, and across the narrow land bridge. Units were being produced like crazy within the cities, preparing for the biggest invasion in history. The entire country waited for the war to begin, to see if this war would be different from the first. The Americans were determined not to be held off this time.
The first strike came from an American rocket artillery clearing the way for the Mechanized Infantry ahead of it. The troops in the gulf made landfall after the first shot, both the north and south valleys were filled with American troops.
The German Surprise
As the troops in the north and south valleys crested the first hill they saw something they did not expect. The Germans were also prepared for war, and were one step ahead of the Americans, the entire country was covered with anti aircraft guns. Artillery guns within the cities began to rain down on the front line, and the cities once again attacked along with them. Air support for the troops was halted because of the massive AA build up in the area. Then the Germans showed they were even further ahead of the Americans, Boston the American city between the capital and western gulf coast seen a lone bomber fly over it, the city then burst into a giant mushroom cloud, the farms surrounding the area turned to scorched earth. Workers, troops, and citizens all gone with one single move. Boston had turned into a military training ground, and had produced most of the troops that were staged for the war. It was now just a shell of what it had been.
The War Goes On
After the shock of the massive AA within the German borders, and the atomic bomb drop the only thing America could do was push on with the plan, a second defeat would only leave the empire looking weak, and still lacking the size it needed. The plan shifted from an air assault to a massive ground push right at the AA units. With most of the troops in the gulf or near the border the American Army force was still intact, and the Air Force was based in the coastal city near the border.
Wave after wave of troops stormed into Germany with their sights set on the anti aircraft units, with each wave America slowly chipped away at the Germans, but suffered major casualties. When the AA units were cleared the Americans were left with seven of the 30 or so units that they started the war with. With the air now clear the bombers came in and battered the cities making the ground troops job easier. Slowly the cities fell, and the German Empire was pushed back to the north. Rocket Artillery cleared out the German Navy and the final city was taken. With the massive loss of troops there was no chance to push on to the capital. America offered up a peace treaty to the Germans and both sides agreed that no other exchanges were needed.
After The War.
With a depleted German force England quickly declared war, and currently has made little progress in the the few years the war has been going on. America is starting to rebuild Boston, and clear the area around the town. With three more cities into the country America is looking stronger than ever, but a new force to the south, Siam, is growing by the day. America is also going through a depression after the war efforts. The economy is weak, but slowly starting to level off as the new cities adjust to being part of the American Empire. There is no way to tell if there will be a third German-American War, England holds the answer to that question. What started off as a push for land and production ended up being one of the greatest wars in history, friendships falling over resources, and a once dominant war hungry empire being defeated. The world has changed greatly over the last 80 years, for the good or not is yet to be seen.
