Given the wild success of my first PBEM game (OK - not yet wild success, as my first game only just began), I am now taking signups for my second PBEM game!
This game will begin either as soon as we have 8 players or on the morning of Sunday, January 5th (Arizona time), whichever comes first.
You should be aware of the following requests before signing up for the game: Please be extremely conscientious about both checking your e-mail and replying to received messages. Please check your e-mail at least once daily, and reply to received messages as soon as you possibly can (preferably immediately after receipt).
Please commit to completing your turn and forwarding it within 24 hours of receipt.
Please commit to letting the group as a whole know when you will be unavailable for a certain period of time (weekend trip, etc.). Since this is a PBEM game, I presume no one is in a hurry, but we will appreciate your courtesy all the same.
Please commit to differentiating between "in-game" and "out-of-game" communications. "Out-of-game" communications mainly consist of administrative matters, such as "Dude, where's my turn?" e-mails and the like. Sharing information about your civ or other players' civs, making deals, proposing alliances and so forth are all considered "in-game" communications. Please do not enter into "in-game" communications with another player until you have made contact with that player's civilization.
So far, we have the following definite players:
heihojin (me) - no civ preference yet, will probably pick randomly
Aggie96 - no civ preference yet specified
If you would like to play, please send me a message indicating so with your e-mail address and civ preference (if applicable). The message can be PM, a posted reply, or e-mail. Spots and civ preferences will be filled first-come, first-served, as judged by the time stamp. I will be glad to keep a couple alternates in mind also, in the unfortunate event a player is unable to complete the game.
If you have not specified a civ preference by the start of the game, one will be randomly assigned to you.
Please post suggestions for rules, map settings, etc. Most rules and settings are negotiable, and I will generally side with the majority. The default settings will be:
Game Type: Play By Email
Game Mode: Standard
Turn Timer: None
World Size: Standard
Barbarian Activity: Roaming
Land Mass: Continents
Water Coverage: 70% Water
Climate: Normal
Temperature: Normal
Age: 4 Billion
Difficulty: Regent
Allow Domination Victory
Allow Space Race Victory
Allow Diplomatic Victory
Allow Conquest Victory
Allow Cultural Victory
Allow Civ-Specific Abilities
Preserve Random Seed
Allow Cultural Conversions
I have also seen games that prohibited deals between players that were not enforceable through the game itself. In general I see no reason to prohibit such deals, as I am strongly disinclined to put restrictions on player diplomacy. If you can convince me otherwise, I may change my mind; but keep in mind that unless otherwise specified, player diplomacy is unrestricted once you make contact with that player's civilization.
Here's to the next war!
