Tuesday, 28 January - 2100 EST (Wednesday, 22-Jan 0200 GMT) (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42630)
Note (25-Jan): There is no schedule for a chat next Saturday (1-Feb) at this time as that date will fall in the next term.
Note on Upcoming Turn Chats: Whenever possible, Preturn instructions, specifically updating build queues and city micromanagement issues, will be carried out shortly before the turn chat's scheduled starting time, so that the actual gameplay can begin promptly on time (at least, in theory).
Also, I don't necessarily expect the weekday chats (particularly the Monday Evening/Tuesday morning chats) to last very long. As these chats will be taking place only two days after the previous chat, it may not be possible to discuss/poll all issues to carry out a full 10-turn chat session. Nonetheless, I feel that with the advent of the Industrial era on our horizon, this schedule offers us more flexibility.

FortyJ Jan 01, 2003, 02:55 AM First Order of Business - Governmental Appointees
There are several positions that need filling. Edit: The Vice President has opened a thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40489) on this subject. Please post your application there if you are interested in helping out. Judge Advocate
Gov of North Province
Gov of Southwest Province
Gov of SDC (South Doughnut Coast)
Gov of Hafen Land
Gov of Unnamed Western Province that used to be unofficially referred to as "Sugar and Spice" or something lame like that... ;)
The gubernatorial positions represent a rather large portion of our Senate, and as we intend to be voting on some ammendments to our Constitution this term, I hope to fill these vacancies soon. All interested parties, please contact this office ASAP.
Second Order of Business - Having Fun
While this difficulty level may prevent us from pursuing some game actions and limit our options from one turn to the next, we still can find a way to have some fun. Rather than trying to divorce ourselves from the RPG or vice-versa, we need to look at ways to bring a little of the RPG back into the DG and similarly, bring a little of the DG back into the RPG.
Octavian X Jan 01, 2003, 03:32 AM Yes, after 5 consecutive terms of running for President, I now am serving my fourth term as Vice President. And, I must say, considering the title my office holds, there is ABSOULUTELY NOTHING I have to do. I just sit around until the President croaks or goes on vacation. Considering that, my agenda this term shall consist of trying to increase the responsibilites of the future holders of this prestigious office.
Also, fellow Fanatikans, watch this post for various Vice Presidential News (like there was any:rolleyes: )
I will first point out that another thread has been created for the specific purpose of finding nominees. This is the thread. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40489) Serve your country, and get into office! Newbies are encouraged to apply.
Bill_in_PDX Jan 01, 2003, 01:14 PM Congratulations Veera and Octavian!

Congrats to 40J and Octavian :).
*Grand Admiral CivGeneral waits for 40J to fill Chieftess's Request of a Council Vote to confurm me as a Trade Deputy :)
Shaitan Jan 02, 2003, 05:53 AM @CivGeneral - There is no Council Vote to confirm a Deputy. That's a simple confirmation poll of the citizens.
Chieftess Jan 02, 2003, 07:14 AM Forty, I'd like to ask for a confirmation vote for CivGeneral as Trade Deputy.
Shaitan Jan 02, 2003, 07:24 AM You don't need the Pres for that, CT. Just do a poll "Confirm CivGeneral as Trade Deputy?" with Yes, No and Abstain options. Let it run for a minimum of 48 hours or until quorum is met.
FortyJ Jan 02, 2003, 09:44 AM Chieftess & CivGeneral
What he said. ;)
However, I will be looking to fill our various vacant positions sometime today, so be on the lookout for a series of council votes soon.
Ehecatl Atzin Jan 02, 2003, 05:04 PM Welcome into office FortyJ. I hope your reign is a long and prosperous one, to be remembered by all.
Congrats, old friend :)

Cyc Jan 02, 2003, 05:56 PM Congratulations to 40J and Octavian X for being elected to their perspective offices. This is an exciting time for Fanatika.
Mr. President, please review the "PLAN A (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=40513)" submitted in this thread and the posts following it. Is there anything you can do to help move this proposal forward?
I realize that you are not only against attacking America, but also against connecting the Saltpeter that will allow us to train Musketmen. But this plan can be effective in a universal manner as far as our target goes. It doesn't matter which target we choose, the plan will still help get our Nation online in terms of Military Production.
Please tell us what you can do to help move this plan forward. Thank you.
FortyJ Jan 02, 2003, 09:04 PM Cyc
I have reviewed the plan as you requested and I find it full of merit. Considering that there appears to be some sentiment in favor of connecting this resource sooner rather than later ;), I suggest we formalize this plan of action and poll the citizenry on it.
Cyc Jan 03, 2003, 01:09 PM An Informational Poll has been started HERE. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=687761#post687761) This poll deals with "PLAN A" concerning Military production. Please vote. This poll will remain open for approximately 24 hours. Governors are encouraged to voice their opinions.
Zarn Jan 03, 2003, 10:43 PM Congrats, Pres. FortyJ. If you don't know who I am, I am Lord Master Zarn. I am a very influencial being in this nation. I hope you rule justly and bring prosperity to the nation.
FortyJ Jan 04, 2003, 02:52 PM I remember you Zarn. Previous Domestic Leader and Grandmaster Jedi of the Jedi Council. Good to see you have you back noble warrior.
BTW, have you registered a city name yet....
Oops. A little blurring of the offices. :) Can't help myself sometimes...
FionnMcCumhall Jan 05, 2003, 12:41 AM attention governor/department leader.
If you need something rushed, or upgraded please post so in the budget thread located here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40496) . Check to see how much it costs then post the amount and the reason it needs to be rushed, or upgraded.
Thanks
Chieftess Jan 09, 2003, 06:38 AM (we're in the casino, no pigeon needed, but a copy is sent to Octavian X)
I recommomend postponing the next turn chat to fully discuss our defense and counter attack. Our cities need barracks now for the musket upgrades. The Indians hit us where it hurts - in the center, attempting to split us in two. We need a message here to address the Citizens of Fanatika.
Donovan Zoi Jan 10, 2003, 06:14 PM Mr. President,
Please look over and respond to my plan for our military response to India's agression. It needs some ironing out so please join the discussion.

Cyc Jan 11, 2003, 12:36 PM Mr. President. I've read your closing comments for the t/c today, but I can't find a copy of the t/c chatlog on the file server. I need a better explanation of what happened at today's t/c. Before we lose any available windows of oportunity, can we re-post the chatlog and extrapolate on the situation a little more?
P.S. Please make any t/c chatlog a full one, not butchered to protect the chosen people, ty.
Cyc Jan 11, 2003, 02:24 PM Well, it appears you people have buried the chatlog to cover your mistakes. That's a very evil thing to do. You must be high level politicians. Sorry I've interupted your very important day. Now I have to waste my time trying to figure out who to PI!
FortyJ Jan 11, 2003, 03:25 PM Cyc
The chat log link is fixed and available for download from either the Turn Chat Instruction thread or here (Chat Log from 11-Jan-2003 (http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads3/turnchat_11Jan03.zip)). Again, I apologize for the error in my link. It was most certainly unintentional.
Rest assured that the chat log is complete from the moment I logged on before the chat was scheduled to start, until the moment we finally ended the chat and uploaded the save and chat log. If you have any problems or questions, please feel free to PM or e-mail me at your convenience and I will do my best to help you.
Cyc Jan 12, 2003, 01:27 AM Thank you for correcting the file name, 40J. It was, indeed, a good chat log. With all of the mis-steps we've seen by leaders of late, I was worried that today's t/c, being one of the very few that I have missed, would not have a chat log for me to read. Then when I read that the t/c was cancelled at the end of pre-turn because our informational system had broken down again, I REALLY felt the need to find out what was going on. To make it worse, I couldn't sign on to the chatroom, no matter how long I waited. I figured the longer it went before I got an answer to my questions, the more probable it was that the chat log would be lost. I couldn't believe that with all the bopping around you were doing in the sub-forums, you hadn't seen my questions.
Chat logs and saves are like milk-blood to a few uf us, 40J. Please check your links after you post them. Thanks again.
FortyJ Jan 18, 2003, 11:33 AM A Turn Chat Scheduling Change has been posted in the first post (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=684064#post684064) in this thread.
Cyc Jan 21, 2003, 02:34 AM The messenger carrying Lord Grandmaster's dagger to the Marillion is the same one being given an escort down the Halls of the Palace to an audience with 40J, the President of Fanatika. Although the words spoken are few, the hand-delivered scroll is the key to the audience. After handing the scroll to the President, the messenger excuses himself and leaves. 40J knows the messenger as Cyc's. It is the only way the man could have gotten past all those guards.
The President eyes the rolled piece of semi-rigid cowhide that has been slipped through a cylindrical brass collar. He smiles and shakes his head, "Leave it to Cyc".
Slipping off the collar, the scroll reveals a very smooth surface of blonde leather with a message written in reddish ink:
Mr. President,
I would be honored to participate in compiling Prince Shaitan's biography. You may rely on my recollections of the man as far back as when he was seemingly a boy. If Shaitan was ever that young ;) .
I am also very honored that this work may be the first publication on your new Printing Press.Truly, an historical landmark. I will buy many copies of this work to donate to Libraries and give to young school children learning the ways of Fanatika.
And alas, I too shall run my flags at half-mast on the ides of each month, in honor of Prince Shaitan. A fitting tribute to our late President.
A concerned voter, :)
Cyc
donsig Jan 21, 2003, 08:59 AM Mr. President,
We can equip 26 of our 46 knights with muskets for a cost of 520g. We currently have 595g and a surplus of 84gpt. Please try to get these new weapons for our knights right away so that we can destroy our enemies!
On a different note, I wish to go on record as being against building the military academy in Bremershaven at this time. That city is recruiting cavalry regiments every five turns and we should not interrupt this important war effort.
Thank you,
donsig
Governor of the Southwest Province
Shaitan Jan 21, 2003, 10:48 AM I agree that the academy should not be built at this time. I'd prefer to see defensive units coming out of Bremers though. We've got plenty of offense lying around but our defense is stretched very tightly.
FortyJ Jan 25, 2003, 02:41 PM Turn Chat schedule for next week has been updated in the first post in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=684064#post684064).
FortyJ Jan 29, 2003, 11:38 AM State of the Realm Address
Fellow Fanatikans, I come before you today to report on the current state of our kingdom.
Over the past term, we have fallen victim to acts of treachery the likes of which we have never before witnessed. Sneak attacks by India and then Babylon left the future of Fanatika hanging in the balance, yet we perservered. We have removed the Indian menace from our lands and we have pushed them to the very brink of extinction. Babylon also is paying dearly for their treachery. Our production continues to increase and we have accomplished technological parity with our rivals. Fellow Fanatikans, the state of our kingdom is strong!
Our forces in Babylon have successfully pillaged their source of Saltpeter and have begun targeting any Babylonian cavalry units left in the open. We should also consider pillaging all roads from luxuries & resources to the Babylonian capitol, thereby eliminating their trading income/economy. Furthermore, as soon as our alliances against Babylon end, we should begin exploring the possibility of extorting their knowledge.
Greece has discovered Steam Power and we should acquire this technology sooner rather than later. We have a plethora of workers waiting to build railroads, and our country cries out for the added productivity that improvement brings. We may need to pay the exorbitant price Greece will no doubt demand if we cannot extort it from Babylon.
If we are able to fish out another Great Leader from the fighting taking place in Babylon, we should consider rushing another Great Wonder. Scientific advances (Newton's University or ToE) would most certainly usher in our Golden Age, so we should think carefully before jumping on one of those. Universal Suffrage would be an excellent wonder to keep the peace in our vast empire under a more productive form of government (ie. Republic or Democracy). Either way, I believe we should start a prebuild for possibly the most powerful wonder of this era, Hoover Dam, suggested to me by one of my aides and appropriately named after him. ;)
In summary, Fanatika is standing tall and is poised to catapult itself into a position of world dominance during the upcoming term. I encourage all citizens to take part in this great adventure.
Shaitan Jan 29, 2003, 12:18 PM @FortyJ - I noticed your posts in the various government threads regarding a chat early in the next term. That is incorrect. Unforutnately, at the end of Term 3 the Judiciary ruled that Presidential plans and actions (specifically the turn chat schedule) are invalid when another President takes office. The same would apply to Leaders. Any plans or instructions they make will stop at the end of the current term.
FortyJ Jan 29, 2003, 12:21 PM True... Because of that decision you mentioned, I purposefully did not schedule a chat for Saturday as it would fall outside the current term, but when the new president takes office, are they not responsible for posting a new schedule?
It would be a shame to waste the weekend and not get anything accomplished.
Shaitan Jan 29, 2003, 12:25 PM I agree and I hope the current Leaders will work to the end of their terms and hand off departments to new Leaders ready to take the ball running.
Chieftess Jan 29, 2003, 12:31 PM Whatever happened to the "If there are no chats scheduled, the ones from the previous week carry over" rule?
Shaitan Jan 29, 2003, 01:17 PM The Judiciary determined that this rule violated the new Leaders' rights so it didn't apply across the term to term boundary.
Chieftess Jan 29, 2003, 01:44 PM So the new leader gets to pick the turn chat date? But, what about the "dates must be for the following week"? That means it'll be 1 week with no turns played.
FortyJ Jan 29, 2003, 02:14 PM Not entirely CT... The rules can work in your favor too. You are responsible for posting a schedule upon being sworn in (so to speak...). I don't think there's anything that prevents the new President from scheduling one immediately, provided there is sufficient instruction from the various leaders (who can, naturally, pick up right where the previous leaders left off).
Shaitan Jan 29, 2003, 06:29 PM Correct. That Judicial ruling also specified that the incoming president isn't restricted by the rule requiring chat schedules be posted on Sundays.
Shaitan Jan 30, 2003, 07:39 AM Code of Standards change needs sponsor!
Please see this post (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=740170#post740170) if you are willing to sponsor the COS change to allow guilty pleas.
