I'm tired of using OPS as an offensive value measure because weighting each equally is an ad-hoc decision with no basis in real value. I'm also unhappy with Runs Created, as it requires lots of obscure statistics and also uses ratios that seem empirical.
Thus, I have created an offensive value estimator called Runs Estimated which can be calculated with the three basic offensive ratios (Batting Average, On-base Percentage and Slugging) and is based on the reality that it takes 4 bases to score a run. It is a simpler calculation than Runs Created, but has a 98.7% correlation to it.
Have a look (http://www.ibhof.org/offenseCalc.html) and tell me what you think.
