View Full Version : Term 5: Building the Rhinelands
Cheetah Jan 03, 2003, 07:22 PM Welcome to Rhineland
Rhineland is the southern province bordering India. It is also the province that is closest to China. Because of this we have a lot of Chinese and Indian troops moving through our territory. As they are our allies, they are welcomed and many of them visit famoused attractions like The Golden Bluff Casino of Huntington.

Cities of Rhineland
Octavinium
Zorgonzolia
Serenity
Huntington
Sturmandrang
Trader's Inn
Grandmastoria
Govenor: Cheetah. Alias Xerex
Deputy: None as I know of...
I plan to build up this province with culture, infrastructure and defence. If any of the departments have a request I will be happy to comply.
And for those of you who want a look at the history of the Government of Rhineland:
Term 4 (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38028)
Cheetah Jan 03, 2003, 07:23 PM At the start of Term 5 this is the status of Rhineland:
Current Build Queues
Octavinium - Marketplace(12), Pikeman, University
Zorgonzolia - Pikeman(12)
Serenity - Marketplace(7), Pikeman, Library, Temple
Huntington - Barracks(13), Pikeman, Pikeman
Sturmandrang - Temple(8), Courthouse, Pikeman, University
Trader's Inn - Pikeman(11), Library, Barracks, Pikeman
Grandmastoria - Library(10), Pikeman, Temple
Culture Status
Octavinium - 199 culture, 5 cpt
Zorgonzolia - 0 culture, 0 cpt
Serenity - 0 culture, 0 cpt
Huntington - 24 culture, 3 cpt
Sturmandrang - 81 culture, 3 cpt
Trader's Inn - 0 culture, 0 cpt
Grandmastoria - 0 culture, 0 cpt
The culture status is not happy reading. As many of these cities are bordering other civs, I believe that it is vital to have culture in them to stop any cultural flips. I will make sure the cities without culture will get culture buildings fast.
Micromanaging and new build queues to follow.
Stuck_as_a_Mac Jan 03, 2003, 07:24 PM Cheeta: you have no deputy. and the reason I had domestic leader is due to the fact my deputy is the domestic leader.
Goonie Jan 03, 2003, 07:28 PM As mayor of Strundrang, you have my full support!
Cheetah Jan 03, 2003, 08:31 PM Octavinium
Marketplace(9), Pikeman, University, Cathedral.
I want laborers on the two forest tiles NW of Octavinium, on the cattle to the north and the plains directly south of the cattle, the forest east of Octavinium, and the plains directly SE and south and on the plains SW of that last tile (near the river).
This will generate zero growth, which I want until the Marketplace is complete so the city doesn't fall into disorder.
Zorgonzolia
Pikeman(6), Library, Temple, Marketplace.
The laborer directly north of the city should be made an entertainer, as the city will grow next turn and I don't want disorder.
Serenity
Temple(1), Library, Marketplace.
Keep the laborers as they are.
Huntington
Courthouse(73), Temple, Marketplace, University.
Keep laborers as they are.
I'm also requesting that the Courthouse of Huntington is bought as soon as it is advisable. It is vital that this border-city get more production.
Sturmandrang
Keep both production queue and laborers as they are.
Trader's Inn
Library(21), Courthouse, Temple, Marketplace.
Keep the laborers as they are.
Requesting that the Library and/or the Courthouse is bought as soon as possible.
Grandmastoria
Library(10), Courthouse, Temple, Marketplace.
Keep the laborers as they are.
Again I am requesting that the Library and/or the Courthouse is bought ASAP.
CivGeneral Jan 03, 2003, 08:46 PM The Build Queue looks good to me :).
You make the Science and Culture Department proud :).
Cheetah Jan 03, 2003, 09:03 PM Well I am a builder by nature :D
far to often has it happened that my first wars start when i get tanks and my civ is the most developed.
However, I am getting better with regards to military units earlier, so I think I can manage the defense as well.
FionnMcCumhall Jan 05, 2003, 12:42 AM attention governor/department leader.
If you need something rushed, or upgraded please post so in the budget thread located here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40496) . Check to see how much it costs then post the amount and the reason it needs to be rushed, or upgraded.
Thanks
Goonie Jan 05, 2003, 02:50 PM As mayor of Strundrang, I ask you remove the pike from the build queue.
Cheetah Jan 05, 2003, 03:38 PM I have removed the pike now Goonie.
It will be smarter to wait and build a Musketman/Rifleman when the time comes.
naervod Jan 05, 2003, 04:31 PM Don't forget that Pikeman can be upgraded to Musketman/Rifleman for cheaper than it costs to build them. I think it is good to build a Pikeman now and upgrade it so we can build other vital units/improvements later when we would otherwise be building a new Musketman/Rifleman.
Cheetah Jan 05, 2003, 04:50 PM naervod: As of now we will be paying 1 gpt for that extra pikeman, so I think it is better to wait. That is as long as we have peace with India and China.
naervod Jan 05, 2003, 05:12 PM That is a good point except that 1gpt doesn't really have an effect on the game right now. There is not much difference between 106gpt and 107gpt. The money will eventually get paid later and its cheaper to upgrade than to build a new unit, so I think it is ultimately cheaper to build a Pikeman now.
Goonie Jan 05, 2003, 05:21 PM I as mayor think it is more important that my city gets a courthouse and an aquduct so that we can GROW!
Cheetah Jan 05, 2003, 05:21 PM I dont see how we will loose any gold by building the unit later. The city will be more developed and give more gold and a faster production for the unit. And by building the unit later, it wont cost anything.
Maybe there's something I realy dont understand here, but I cant see how it would be more costly to construct this unit later.
naervod Jan 05, 2003, 05:23 PM You have a point both Goonie and Cheetah. I forgot about the city growing, so I guess you were right to take away the Pikeman. An aqueduct is good to help it grow.
Cheetah Jan 06, 2003, 05:41 PM Octavinium
Marketplace(4), Pikeman, University, Cathedral.
If Plan A is accepted I must insist that Octavinium is allowed to complete its Marketplace before it starts producing military units. After the Marketplace is complete let Octavinium produce military units.
Zorgonzolia
Library(14), Temple, Courthouse, Marketplace.
I would like another defence unit to be placed in Zorgonzolia when it is available, so we have two units defending it.
Serenity
Library (3), Marketplace, Courthouse, Cathedral.
Huntington
Courthouse(68), Temple, Marketplace, University.
Sturmandrang
Temple(7), Courthouse, Aqueduct, Marketplace, University.
Trader's Inn
Library(16), Courthouse, Temple, Marketplace.
Grandmastoria
Library(5), Courthouse, Temple, Marketplace.
I still request that either culture buildings and/or courthouse is bought in Zorgonzolia, Huntington, Trader's Inn and Grandmastoria. The request is also posted in the Budget thread.
Shaitan Jan 08, 2003, 08:38 AM Please place a link to the Term 4 thread in the first post of this thread.
Cheetah Jan 08, 2003, 05:29 PM Ok Shaitan.
I have posted the link :)
Cheetah Jan 08, 2003, 05:55 PM Octavinium
Knight(3), Marketplace, University, Cathedral.
If it is planed that Octavinium continue producing military units, then override this queue.
Zorgonzolia
Temple(21), Courthouse, Marketplace, University, Bank.
Serenity
Marketplace(8), Courthouse, University, Bank, Cathedral.
Huntington
Courthouse(58), Aqueduct, Temple, Marketplace, University, Bank.
Sturmandrang
Courthouse(37), Aqueduct, Marketplace, University, Bank.
Trader's Inn
Courthouse(34), Aqueduct, Temple, Marketplace, University, Bank.
Grandmastoria
Courthouse(71), Aqueduct, Temple, Marketplace, University, Bank.
FionnMcCumhall Jan 08, 2003, 11:49 PM ATTN: Governors
RE: WAR WITH INDIA
We must halt any production of improvements in your province. Concentrate on building military units only. All gold is for Military and Foreign Affairs, please do not request to rush any improvements until this war is over.
Thanks
Fionn McCumhall
Domestic Minister of Fanatika
------message sent via pigeon from Gold Bluff Casino---------------
Donovan Zoi Jan 10, 2003, 06:18 PM Governor Cheetah,
Please look over and respond to my plan for our military response to India's agression. It needs some ironing out so please join the discussion.
Four Rally Points Against India (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41323)
Cheetah Jan 10, 2003, 08:12 PM As we are under attack in this province I think we should put military units in front of all build queues. It may be an idea to complete some of the Courthouses if it is possible, though that is unlikely.
I believe these cities should consentrate on defence and wait for the offensive forces. Please ask Military Department about which units are wanted.
If nothing else, place Musketmen as the first build in the queues.
I believe that it might be possible to save the worker SE of Grandmastoria. Moving it directly NW into the forest and then moving the Elite Pikeman on top of it, might be enough, as there are only two healthy Elephants in range. But I leave this decision to the turn-chat, president, domestic minister or whoever wants to have a say on this.
Cheetah Jan 14, 2003, 01:34 PM I am happy to announce that Huntington has been liberated. The Indian aggressors has met their destiny on the battlefield.
As Huntington was liberated our glorious forces found President FortyJ and Lady Chieftess together with other Fanatikan citizens who had been hiding in a casino. They were all healthy and well.
Now the question is are Ganges and Hyderabad going to be the 7th and 8th cities of Rhineland.
Donovan Zoi Jan 14, 2003, 02:48 PM Nice thread, Cheetah-
Hyderabad is held by the Russians now but is within your provincial borders. Ganges will probably end up in a new province as it is not.
Since we have the upper hand against India now, you may be able to consider switching Grabdmastoria and Trader's Inn to aqueducts; I will check with the Military Leader.
Cheetah Jan 14, 2003, 05:14 PM Actualy, Ganges IS within Rhineland's borders. But it is right at the border.
Cheetah Jan 15, 2003, 05:29 PM Octavinium
Musketman(5), Marketplace, University, Bank, Cathedral
Zorgonzolia
Musketman(23), Courthouse, Marketplace, Temple
Serenity
Musketman(3), University, Courthouse, Bank
Sturmandrang
Aqueduct(43), Courthouse, Marketplace, University
Trader's Inn
Musketman(26), Courthouse, Aqueduct, Marketplace, University
Grandmastoria
Musketman(18), Courthouse, Marketplace, Temple, Aqueduct
Huntington
Musketman(56), Library, Courthouse, Aqueduct, Marketplace
The Military Department can put a unit or two into the queues of Octavinium, Zorgonzolia and Serenity if they feel more units are needed for the war.
When the war stops (if it does so this turn chat) or we find that the Indians cannot threaten our cities and that we have enough units for now, I want the cities of Rhineland to stop building units (remove them from the queues) and switch to buildings.
Cheetah Jan 18, 2003, 02:36 PM Keep the build queues the same if not stated otherwise.
Huntington
Move laborer on the mine west of Huntington on tile SE to grasland. The city will grow at the same speed and will not loose any shield nor commerce.
Grandmastoria
Move the laborer on the mine closest to Trader's Inn to the mine Huntington just stoped working on.
Trader's Inn
Move the laborer on the flood plain north of the city to the mine Grandmastoria stoped working on.
Serenity
Put the entertainer to work.
Sturmandrang
Move one of the laborers on the flood plains NE of the city to the plains directly south of the city.
Ganges
Move the laborer on the hills NW of Ganges to the irrigated grasland SE of Ganges.
