I got a Radeon 9000 Pro 128 MB video card. It's not great but it will do for 2 years until I build myself another computer. It's also a great deal at 140 bucks. I average about 20-25 fps on UT2k3 with detail/resolution/filtering etc. jacked up to the highest setting. I don't think it'll play Doom 3 that well though...:(

I have GeForce Ti 4400, which is great in gaming ( 5% of my computer time), consuming power and space and making noise. I love ATI Radeons for their 2D image quality. I average around 40fps in UT 2003, 1024x768x16 everything maxed out, no antialiasing , no aniso filtering.

Hehehe, I get 10 FPS if I am lucky at those settings with my GF4 MX 420. :) But, I only paid 68 bucks for it....shipping included.

I play UT2003 with 1024x768x32, same as my desktop.

How do you turn on anisoptric filtering and antialiasing? I've never seen any of these options in UT.

drumroll please ...... Voodoo3. And how apropriate that this came up. I'm planning on getting a new video card in the next week, perhapse tommorow. So, what should i go for? The most I'd spend is $200 Canadian. What do you guys think is good for that price? ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB? I don't know how much longer I'll be playing comp games for, but I'd like to play new games such as the up comming Rainbow Six 3, GTA Vice City when and if it is ported properly to PC, Gost Recon, Hitman 2, and GTA3. Alas, Voodoo3 isn't supported on any of those.

So essentially, is an ATI Radeon 8500LE 64MB any good.

also, if anybody knows, how is the XFX Graphics MX440SE 64MB. Keep in mind i won't be running games at the max resolution, but i just want to know if i can get decent graphics on these new games comming out and those that have come out in the past year. Decent, not the best, but decent

It's amazingly fast.

I never bought one, and hope I never have to. Onboard video does everything but play the very latest hottest richest 3D games. Next year's onboard video will play those.

Still one of the best 2D cards - I have the max version.

Most of thenew 3D cards aren't that great in 2D. Frame rates arent what its all about folks. Its about image quality.

It is good for 2d, but not much cop for Quake III or the like. The great thing about it is that I have two monitors connected, and it does that very well.

Woohoo! I've got a voodoo3 as well! Untill I wanted to play GTA3, all's well. But now I've installed some beta drivers, and now everything sucks.

Hey I still have a Voodoo 5 5500 with 2 processors on it. For my Mac :) It's soo huge and it also requires an additionnal power supply!
