View Full Version : Additional Sticky Threads:
dojoboy Jan 07, 2003, 09:27 AM I inquired about getting a couple more stickies for our general mac section to broaden our opportunity for dialogue within the community. The request is being run by TF. The two stickies I suggested were (1) Mac Gaming Technical Issues and (2) Other Mac Games.
I should have posted this first to see what everyone thinks. Would these be good for the community or something else, anything else? It seems the mac forum is growing and more focus might keep visitors returning. I know these two threads are available forum wide, but responses to mac inquiries are few and far between - in my opinion.

ejday Jan 07, 2003, 02:13 PM Concur and second the motion, dojoboy. Good suggestions, I hope they put it through.
DiamondzAndGunz Jan 07, 2003, 04:47 PM Yep, great ideas! :goodjob: Having a technical sticky would solve repetitive problems (like game incompatibility) and could also answer commonly asked questions, like how to upload larger files.

No, thank you. Look at Inside Mac games where they had a couple of stickies for some stuff. With thunderfall's obligatory Announcement sticky this means 4 threads (including the annoying succession game sticky) before any active thread.
A moderator/user maintained FAQ would be better.
You also need to consider 2 things. A sticky thread grows old, which is what happened to the Avatar thread on IMG.
Also, even if repeated questions are annoying, they generate traffic and keep the forum alive, which is important for regulars to see that the forum is alive and also for Civfanatics moderators that see that the Mac forum is not in need of being closed down.

IMG is a fine site, but some may wish to remain here at CFC than go searching. A Mac FAQ could be done after a compilation is made of posts within the sticky. CFC has already set a precedent w/ a "Other Games" section, this one would be mac-specific.
Chieftess Jan 08, 2003, 03:18 PM Take a look at Lt. 'Killer' M's FAQ in Civ3Gen. Someone could volunteer to make a thread like that, with links to the important questions in the first few posts. But, those would sound more like a forum, since this is the Civ3 section.
Nixnutz Jan 08, 2003, 09:31 PM Here's a vote for either a sticky or FAQ on Mac Technical Issues, especially as they relate to Civ. Although I have very few problems running Civ on my G3, I do see a lot of "how do I do/fix this" questions. Having them all in one place will make it easier to find an answer.
