View Full Version : Scenario file stopped working / playing a scenario inside a mod

Hi,

I had downloaded the Earth 1643 scenario saved file a few days ago and The Boyfriend (TB) was playing it for a few days and then he wanted me to see if there was a way to play the scenario from within one of the mods we had created.

So I saw that the file was openable in Notepad and saw there was something called "modpath". I didn't do anything with it but just closed the file.

Now the game doesn't see the scenario file anymore. When I double-click on it, it just opens up in Notepad. If we open BTS first and then try to Load A Game, it doesn't see the file.

I thought maybe I had inadvertently modified the extension so that it was a .txt now, but that didn't seem to be true. Just in case, I deleted the file and re-downloaded it. But even the new one, when I double-click on it, it opens up in Notepad and BTS still doesn't see it.

Has anyone run into this before?

Also -- since we're on the subject -- is there a way to use Earth 1643 and/or other scenarios from within our other mods by either renaming the Mod (I was going to back up the BTS mod and then rename one of our mods to "Beyond The Sword" to see if I could trick the scenario file. Or, can I do something with the "modpath" line in the saved game file?

Thanks!!

-TG

Seems obvious but have you tried right click the file and go to 'open with' and then select 'choose default program' then go select BTS and have the box ticked when it says 'always use the selected program to open this type of file'
Its easy enough to overlook.

Are you sure that you didn't save the WBS file - without any changes? Because if you did, then the text encoding might have become invalid. Just a theory...

Hahahah I love when the most obvious answer is actually the one that works but that I overlooked.

I did think that I had somehow changed the file type but when I downloaded a fresh scenario file and had the same problem I got confused.

I totally forgot to check the file association.

Thanks for the help! :)
