what are short of jokes? here are a few examples
he is a few bricks short of a house
he is a few letters short of a word
basacally:
he is a few number of items short of an item which is made up of the many items that this person is short of

A standard British insult is "a few sandwiches short of picnic".
But the most telling insult I've heard recently was this (and it's not 'short of'):
"The deepest thing about her is her acne scars."
