I totally disagree. Too many things can go wrong on a kick. WHY kick it on SECOND down? Especially just after the miss. Third down I can even understand. The Titans were moving right through the Steelers defense.

Say, if the Steelers had NOT accidentally run into the kicker, how brilliant was Fisher looking then on 2nd and 6? They would have gotten the ball and very possibly won (because they would have gotten the ball.... :D ).

P.S. Running it into the end zone is a sure thing. Give that a chance first before the kick.

So, you don't find the point spread thing a bit curious?

Ah, don't worry about it, CD. You'll get the hang of the "Post reply" button before too long.

The Titans got downfield by throwing the ball. The closer you get to the other team's end zone, the harder it is to throw. Also, Eddie George is sitting on the bench with a concussion, and Holcombe had been absolutely terrible. McNair had already thrown two picks, and there's a chance he might have thrown a third. Or someone else might have fumbled. Either way, he had to get some points on the board, and fast.

The odds are in favor of a chippie field goal. Nedney was 9-for-9 on the season from inside 30 and 19-for-21 under 40. I was stunned that Nedney missed the first one. Of course, I'm sure Fisher and everyone else on the Titans sidelines crapped their pants after seeing that shank.

And Jeff Fisher's got more important things to think about than the point spread. Like winning a playoff game. The strange thing is how problematic field goals have been in the playoffs this year. You had the Giants fiasco last week.
