Sounds great! I use an older mod that didn't change the non-civ wonders.

If I may ask, how can I change the civs that can build them? How is your XML set up?

Mentos
Mar 13, 2011, 12:48 AM
Yes, I took a look at this old mod too and was suprised how much easier it is doable without any complicated tech and dummy stuff.
It's only the Agra Fort, Circus Maximus, Hermitage, and Oxford University of National Wonders that are nation exclusive.

Don't ask, just download it and take a look at it yourself. It just takes remarks with <!-- --> to allow certain civilizations to build them. You could also delete whole entries of course.
All modifications in this XML file should take affect when you load your game session again. Adding the mod to a game session will also keep already built foreign Wonders but it's possible that currently built ones will be canceled.

I took a quick peek at it, but my knowledge of modding is very limited, so I wasn't sure how you set it up to work. Sounds pretty easy, though!

Adding new Civs/Wonders looks like simply a copy/paste/edit job (I hope).

Thanks a bunch!

Heh, my modding ability is limited as well hence my simple mods so far.
Yeah, there are a couple of New Wonders and a few New Civilization mods out there but I haven’t taken a look at them yet.
I’m currently playing only with Thal’s Balance Combined Mod which changes two National Wonders and adds another one. Those are already supported.
As long as modders only replaces Wonders and keep the building-classes, they should stay civ-exclusive. Totally new ones have to be added to my mod.

I'm only going to add new Civilizations and Wonders by demand. You may do suggestions here which mods should be supported.

Do the "perks" of the wonders transfer upon conquest? I know in Civ IV they did not, but haven't noticed whether or not they do in V. If so it just adds another level of necessary conquest for less 'wonderful' civs to collect what they can't naturally build -- if not, it seems like certain civs will wind up being short changed, poor Mongolia.

Mentos
Mar 13, 2011, 10:47 AM
I haven't tested yet what happens if you conquer cities with Wonders. I only know you keep Wonders already built in your cities if you add the mod later to your game session, so I guess no effect will ever be removed somehow. It's only the ability to build them what has been removed.

The Loot

Mentos, I took a quick look through the file again, and it seems there are some errors.

Some Wonders don't have valid Civ entries, some Wonders have too many entries, and some DLC notations and entries are not in correct places.

Might want to have a second look through it yourself.

Mentos
Mar 14, 2011, 10:11 AM
Okay, I'll check it out slowly again in the miles long file. Mistakes happen too easily with massive copy/paste operations.

Mentos

Oh boy, I must have been on drugs when I released v1. Here is v2 now with hopefully everything working as intended!

Download (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=16753)

All missing Wonders should be buildable now. Egypt can build the Great Library now instead of Greece, and no DLC Civ can build the Great Lighthouse anymore.

No worries, I know how daunting that file is as I've been going through and rearranging it for my own use.

Mentos
Mar 15, 2011, 02:29 AM
This time I have punched a space between each Wonder and added an additional remark-line. That helps a bit scrolling up and down the whole mess.

So yeah, I've checked all 23 civilizations in-game and haven't noticed any inconsistency in their tech-trees. I've even removed the DLC folders and TBC mod to see if something bugs. A long session test still hasn't been made yet though.

If anyone still founds something strange or likes to see his favorite Wonder mod exclusively then drop a line here.

Mentos

So, how does it play for you?

I personally like being relieved from this tiresome and stressful wonder race. You can focus now more on expansion and building up a military force, especially at beginning where mainly the capital is most productive.
Most nations have given a little exclusive boost, but that still shouldn’t have a huge impact.

What could really bring out of balance was rather the fact that usually the human player was getting too powerful by massing most if not all wonders over the time. At least I had always the megalomanic motivation wanting to own them all.
I’m finally healed now.

Mentos
Mar 26, 2011, 10:03 AM
Edit: And another too-early release: I'm going to change the description of Hermitage to National Museum and Oxford University to National University. Culture gain is already very slow enough with the Wonder restriction. Circus Maximus and TBC Agra Fort is also getting a new description.
All national wonders should be available for every Civ again.

Re-release of v3 coming soon.

Mentos
Mar 26, 2011, 02:13 PM
v3
- Some National Wonders have received a more national description
- Construct Wonder missions of City States disabled

Download (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=16753)

For TBC users: I had to turn the Baths of Trajan aka. Circus Maximus back to a Colosseum type so the description change to National Colosseum make any sense. The happiness bonus and the "building x in 80% of all cities required" change of TBC is still valid.
If you don't like this then just delete all Circus Maximus entries at the end of the XML file.

Sounds good, I've been enjoying the mod. Would it be possible to add support for all the Wonders in these mods?

Additional Wonders (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=408550)

Seven Ancient Wonders (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=404640) - "History in the Making" also includes the Statue of Zeus, but I'm not sure if they use the same naming in code.

Hey, quick work!

I'd probably suggest leaving the HitM wonders open to everyone. They may be named after certain locations/buildings, but they work better as concepts in my opinion ("Major Movie Production Locale" rather than "Hollywood").

Mentos
Mar 27, 2011, 11:20 PM
No problem, I haven't played with this HitM mod yet. I'm going to remove its entries in the next version.
Only wonder-only mods/packs will be supported then besides TBC.

The Loot

Might as well keep it's Statue of Zeus code in, just to cover that base.

Mentos
Mar 28, 2011, 01:25 AM
It's all or nothing.

Now something very important:
There is a compatibility issue with v3 and v4. If you don't use TBC then the mod will most likely not work at all.
I'm working on that.

- Removed History of the Making II mod support due gameplay incompatibility

Everything should work as intended now (again).
I've transfered some XML entries to SQL for non-TBC compatibility. Modifying another mod isn't always as easy as it seems.

- Adjusted all (custom) wonders according to patch 1.332 changes

- Added "Native Terrain" mod to support the additional terrain requirements
- Added "Florence Cathedral Wonder" support for Rome ("Culture per Pop" mod not required)

You can check out all (custom) wonders available in tech-tree if you put an underscore in front of "Native Wonders - Nationalizer.sql" file. You obviously have to install all custom wonders separately to see them in game.
It's not recommended to play this way due many wonders sharing the same technology and a few the same effects.
You could also do it the other way and disable the "Native Wonders - Mods.sql" file, playing only with the nationalizing change but expect outdated, imbalanced, and a few semifunctional custom wonders.

Another wonder i think would be good is The Olympic Games for Greece.
And their is a very good MOD going around and is a national wonder but can help ALOT in the later game, its called Magna Carta and it allows you to change your social polocies for other ones but comes at a price of anarchy for each social policy removed.

I only add support for custom wonders, not the mods/files themselves. You need to download them via mod browser or here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=114).

Keep in mind that Native Wonders needs to be loaded after all custom wonders. Either reinstall my mod after all other mods or follow my complicated guide:

Supported mods won't work together?
Try following method while running the game:
1. Run the game and go to the Browse Mods menu
2. Install any mods
3. Alt-Tab out of the running game and filebrowse to the C:\<username>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS folder
4. Move every mod folder, or only those where mod loading order is important, inside into an empty folder, e.g. \Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Patch or better into a newly created \Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Backup folder. Best to move out each mod's folder one by one, otherwise the mod list isn't always updated
5. Tab back into the game and check if the mod list in the Browse Mods menu is empty

If you don't have the DLC Civilizations, what happens to their special Wonders? Do they just disappear, or does the mod recognize that you don't have them and place them to other related Civs? Sorry if it's been mentioned, but I read the whole thread, and didn't see it stated 100% clearly.

Thanks, but another question, if I were to buy the DLC's later, do I have to reinstall this mod? Like how you have to do when downloading more custom wonders?

Mentos
Jul 10, 2011, 02:16 PM
Adding new DLC-Civs shouldn't bother Native Wonders because this data is loaded before any other mod's. It's only important that Native Wonders is loaded after other mods, incl. custom wonders and all those mods mentioned which are supported and compatible, so it can modify the existing mod data.

Reinstalling and activating the mod at very last after other mods should be the easiest way to keep compatibility. You can also try the move-folder method while running the game which I explained in the download section or some posts above.

i think i know how to make the changes for the DLC stock additions of Artemis, Mausoleum and Statues of Zeuz. I guess my main question now is (pardon my lack of lingo):

are the correct tags for these three new buildings:
BUILDINGCLASS_ARTEMIS
BUILDINGCLASS_MAUSOLEUM
BUILDINGCLASS_ZEUZ

I'm guessing that if i use the same formatting you used for the other vanilla wonders, it would work:

Hey, just like to point out that Mentos hasn't been online in over a month. Also, it's Zeus, not Zeuz, just so it works.

I thought since I went through the effort and spammed this thread, I might as well contribute my solution to adapting this mod to work with the Ancient Wonders DLC.

I've found you just need to insert the following into the "Native Wonders - Nationalizer" xml file in the mod folder.

Hello Mentos,

I was wondering if it would be possible for you to add CCTP (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=432802) to your supported mod list? (I know its a big ask since theres alot of extra wonders)

Since I love the idea of this mod and did my own update for the addition of the Korea civ, i thought I would share the updated sql file for the nationalizer. This is the only file I had to change to make sure that Korea only has access to native wonders. This update should only support Korea to build their specific wonder (found here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=10782291#post10782291)).

I'd recommend installing this tiny patch as described above by simply replacing the original (save a copy just in case) with attached.

I added some functionality with other wonders and have not had any issues. I'm not really that adept at modding anything other than xml files, but if you have an issue, let me know.

bwoww78, I installed your file, but for some reason, all Civs are able to build any of the Wonders? The official (aka Mentos' version) seems to be outdated or something, as I have problems with the production thing.(It won't let me choose what to build next, unless I click on the city, click purchase, and then click switch to production-even then I can't do gold or Science) Although I'm not 100% sure if this mod is the problem, I'm like 99.9% sure. I don't have a problem when I take it out, but it seems to surface at random times when it is in. Hopefully someone can take it in and make it all sparkly? I love this mod, it adds more realism, and makes my game better, because it's always one or two Civs that have all the Wonders otherwise.

Nevermind, how stupid of me! I guess the file change defaulted the Mod off! Should have checked before-hand! Sorry!

I know I'm not Menthos, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to update the file to v19..
I basically took version 18, replaced the Nationalizer to the one bwoww78 gave us, and I edited the Mods file to actually look right in Civlopedia. I will now edit it/add more wonders to be compatible if anyone wants to message me with the wonder they want. I'll *try* to figure it out. I'm not exactly sure yet how to add the "Challenge of Wonders" part in yet. I'm sure I'll get it if I tried.
Also, if anyone wants to tell me how to upload the file to the in-game Mods thing, that would be nice too. (I know nothing about modding TBH.)

v19
-"Mount Rushmore" support for America added*
-"Gripsholm Castle" support for Denmark added*
-Korea support added*

Sorry to be a nitpicker, but Gripsholm Castle is in Sweden--not Denmark. Hopefully, that'll be fixed in an update!

Would it be possible to adjust this mod so it only gives, say, a 33% production cost reduction, not only buildable by their civ?

Hell, I'll pick this up and update it and such if its okay with the mods for me to do so, since the author doesn't seem to care about it anymore.

I'm not sure how to mod for that effect (though I think its a great idea!)

What I DO know is that what this mod does specifically is inhibit specific civs from producing a specific wonder, using one line of xml code for each potential civ per wonder. To allow a civ to actually build the wonder is to simply place a _ before that line of code.

Hope this helps and if you do create such a mod, please post it!

Updated this for Gods and Kings (CN Tower only open wonder) still suports the mods listed in the OP, I have not updated this with and new additions that mods may have added since the author stoped updating it.

The list should be changed.

Byzantium should be able to build the Hagia Sophia (Theodora's leader screen has a view of the Hagia Sophia and the Byzantines built it) (though the Ottomans can build it as well).

The Maya built the Chichen Itza, not the Aztecs.

China should be the only one with the Great Firewall.

The CN Tower can be left as an open wonder (unless the Canada civilization shows up; alternatively, England and the Iroquois (Toronto was on Iroquois territory before it became Ojibwa territory before it became British territory) can build it)

Ottomans should not because they are the ones who destroyed Byzantium and converted Hagia Sophia into a mosque/museum.

instead Romans and Greeks should be able to build it since they were they Byzantium.

The OP hasn't been on in a fair while, so what I would suggest is someone downloads it, figures out how he does it and then fixes it up to be including the new wonders (Both official and unofficial)

Ugh. Poop. Nobody has updated it much since I last updated. Okay. Well, I am compiling the list of wonders that I have that doesn't work with the mod in my game and hopefully will be able to have the time to update it to Brave New World. I don't think I will add any additional wonders that may have been added to the collections that I previously supported. I'll leave that to anyone who really wants them. I mean, it's the easiest mod ever to figure out imo lol.
